We received a little card listing our theme, Hello Sunshine, along with some info about reviewing the products and a link to a survey.

Bic Soleil Sensitive Disposable Razor - Estimated Value $1.99 (Buy a pack of 3 for $5.97)

The first item in our box was a disposable razor. This pink razor is pretty substantial for a disposable and it provided a very gentle shave. I actually think it would be very difficult to nick yourself with this one, which would make it a great starting razor for a teen! It gave me a close shave and I didn't experience any irritation, and while I won't be switching from my preferred razor, I definitely think this could be a great contender in a pinch and will be perfect for my travel toiletry bag!

Blistex Lip Vibrance, 0.13 oz - Full Size! Retail Value $2.44

Today was the first chilly day we've had and a great reminder that it's almost chapstick season for me and my dry skin! This Lip Vibrance tube provides just enough moisture and a sheer deep pink tint that has a hint of shimmer. This formula is SPF 15 rated and the tube even has a tiny mirror on the end of it for touch-ups on the go.

Teleties Small Hair Coil - Estimated Value $2.66 (Buy 3 for $7.99)

I was excited to see this next item as I was recently introduced to this company through another subscription box and fell in love with them. I use one on my wrist daily and while it may look like every other cord hair tie, this one is much skinnier and so much more comfortable for me to wear on both my wrist and in my hair. I am also really digging this ridiculously bright color! Another added bonus is that this company donates to FORCE and I always appreciate a company that gives back!

TRESemme Between Washes Volumizing Dry Shampoo, 1.15 oz - Estimated Value $0.94 (Buy a 7.3 oz bottle for $5.98)

This travel-size dry shampoo smells light and fresh and goes on clear leaving no residue. I was really impressed to find that it actually volumized my hair giving it a much-needed lift at the roots. I wear my hair up a lot so when I use dry shampoo it's mostly just to freshen up, but I feel like this will be great for those in-between days when my hair starts to go limp!

Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Pore Strip to Scrub - Estimated Value $1.62 (Buy a 6 pack for $6.97)

This pack came with one pore strip which was basically a little strip of solid soap that you apply to your wet nose. Then you leave it on for a few minutes before wetting it and massaging it onto your nose. I found that it was really hard to scrub off and I didn't notice any difference in my pores and blackheads afterward. It was a bit underwhelming for me, but I'm glad to know I can rule this product out in the future since I've had the chance to sample it.

Salon Perfection One and Done Brow Pomade in Dark Brown, 3.2 g - Full Size! Retail Value $5.97

This brow pomade set is presented nicely and comes with a little pot of creamy pomade and a double-ended wand with a precision brush on one end and a spoolie on the other. I found that a little bit goes a long way, especially for someone like me, who goes lighter on her brows.

Here is it swatched with a blended line and a solid line using the precision brush. That's the Lip Vibrance swatched below.

Here are my awkward brow shots (I am also wearing the Lip Vibrance here!). The first shot is me with the brow pomade applied according to the directions. The pigment is good and the spoolie does a great job at blending it into my brows. The second photo is my naked brow and the third photo is one eyebrow done and one bare (not my best look - ha!). In the last photo I have pomade on both brows. On a daily basis, I don't do anything with my brows makeup-wise because it always sticks out to me and looks strange when I see my reflection and this color is much too dark to be in my comfort zone, even though I used the lightest of applications here.

Garnier Fructis Damage Repairing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask with Papaya Extract, 0.40 oz - Estimated Value $0.35 (Buy a 3.4 oz jar for $2.97)

The last item I received is this one-minute hair mask with papaya extract. It smelled nice and fruity although the scent didn't linger and it says you can use it as a conditioner, a mask, or even a leave-in conditioner. I tried it as a mask and I started with half the packet, but it didn't feel like it was spreading very evenly throughout my hair so I went ahead and used the entire pack. Normally with a mask, I would expect it to soften and work through any tangles in my hair, but I almost felt like this formula made it worse and my hair was nowhere near soft. I found my hair to be less manageable and kind of dry afterward, so this mask is definitely not for me.

Verdict: This box has an estimated value of $15.97 which is pretty great for a $5 box! This box had a great summer vibe with the dry shampoo, that bright Teletie, and a disposable razor to test out. I love that we also received a full-size Lip Vibrance and brow pomade, even though the color of that one wasn't quite right for me. The hair mask and pore strip were both kind of duds for me, but they were also the only two single-use items in the box, so I can't complain. Overall, this was a pretty solid box!

I got mine today! I had signed up for two using different emails. One was a classic and one a trendsetter. However I got identical boxes. I got the razor (1.99), Biore witch hazel strip (.98), Bioderma micellar water 100ml (5.90), a freeman charcoal mask (1.37), and a Salon Perfect brow defining kit ( 5.57), and foil Nivea lotion. Not bad at all! I wished I got 2 different boxes but it was a value of about $16. I got prices off Walmart.com.

That is a good box. My box was different. I added up the values of the items and it came to a little over $6.

Same here!
I am 100% finished with the Walmart Beauty Junk Box!
I should have went with my brain and not with my heart when I decided to resubscribe on Sept 3 but didn’t receive my pathetic box until Sept 19.
Disposable razors, the blackhead strips, the mask, btl of micellar water and the brow product, not even in my correct shade.
I’ll stick with Target’s beauty Box Thank-You!
Never ever again!

My box was a bit different. It included a Bic razor, Dove dry shampoo, Biore nose strip, Maybelline liquid eyeliner, Bioderma Make-up remover, and Nivea lotion.

I hope this is a good sign that they’re going back to how it used to be. I had subbed to this one, from their first box – until the last Winter box. I had to cancel it, as I was getting all the foil packets and it wasn’t worth it anymore – even for $5. If the next season keeps it up, I’ll give them another try.

Cancelled the Walmart box back in March but this one looks decent! Glad you’re all happy with it! Now if only Target could take a lesson…..

I’ve been getting this sub for the past 3-4 years or so (long enough that I’ve forgotten how long) & while there have been a couple of times that I’ve gotten just foil samples, mostly it’s been similar to this. I got the eyebrow makeup in my second-to-last box but in the last one, I got a full-sized Roc eye cream, the Blistex, the razor, Biore witch hazel nose strip, face mask & organic toothpaste. There doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason to it. However, for the $5 price point every few months, I don’t mind it at all. It’s like opening a surprise grab bag, which I’ve always been a sucker for.

I like this box because it provides great sizes for travel. I hate travelling with my more expensive products, even deluxe sizes, so this provides good stuff I like or need (i.e. a razor, dry shampoo, conditioner, etc.) without fear of something happening or forgetting. I also like it because if it’s a one use item, it’s one less thing I need to bring home with me. This box came with some great things I’ll be bringing with me on my weekend trip to see my parents in a few weeks and for my extra long Xmas/birthday vacation in December. Even though I did get a few repeats, I don’t mind since it is only $5. Of course I’d love to try new things, but I use this to gather sample sizes for travel or house guests.

This is the first box in years I swear that looks and reminds me of the old boxes they use to send out. Sad thing is if I subscribed again I would end up with all foil samples. I really dislike foil samples. It’s wasteful and hate leaving anything open if there ends up to be extra product, which is hardly the case because most of the time there isn’t enough.

This box makes me want to try Walmart sub again… but I never seem to receive what MSA does in terms of choice items and value 🙁

Wow!! I’m actually looking forward to my Walmart box!!! Been a long while since I was a le to say that! I hope mine is as good as yours!!

Nana

Ugh I got three repeats. The tiresome, razor and the brow pomade thingy. I ended up giving them away

Reply ButtonReply

PJ

That was a great box! My box from them them this season was unfortunate and had lots of repeats from last seasons. I dont think their whole subscription box process is very well thought out. Some boxes are amazing and others are horrible. I ended up canceling as I keep getting the same items over and over.

Courtney

I had canceled right before I received my box. After getting the box I ended up subbing again lol. I loved everything except the dry shampoo but that’s ok my niece loves dry shampoo lol.

That is probably the best Walmart box I’ve ever seen! Nice review, too!

I got that same box. I am so in love with that hair coil. Whenever it’s not in my hair it’s on my wrist. Very comfortable to wear in my hair. Got exact same brow pomade in the previous box and gave it to my mom. This is just not useful to me at all. Overall, for $5, I am pleased

I’m glad to hear you like the hair coil too! 👍🏻 And my mom actually ended up taking my brow pomade, too! Haha

Great review! I haven’t seen a decent box from WM in quite a while. I got their boxes for awhile when we would receive trial size bottles which are so handy to the camper.

I stop my subscription with them when the samples came as single use or foil packs. Those are too hard to open with wet, slippery hands! 🙂

Brandi D.

Lol! Yes they are pretty frustrating to open in the shower! Thanks for reading! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Liz

Ha! Yes! I always pre-open the foil packets before I get in the shower!

Drminniecooper

Nice comparison brow shots, thank you! I received that pomade too, but it’s far too dark for a redhead, it looks very natural on you though. It wasn’t for not though, because I am using the spoolie to separate my lashes after mascara application, and someone else suggested using the pomade for an eyeliner as well.

I never thought I would see the day when a Wal-Mart box is far better than the recent Target boxes, but here we are.

Ooh good idea for the spoolie! And I’m sure that shade would make a great shade for a liner! Thanks for reading! 🙂

Great thorough review for a $5 box! I havent been tempted in almost 2 years to resub but this box had some useful, though not so much exciting items. 🙂
