Rocksbox is a designer jewelry styling and renting service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy the pieces they love most at a discounted price. Right now, you can even get your first month of Rocksbox membership for free! (Read on to learn how, or check out our list of other free subscription boxes here!)

Upon subscribing, you'll take a "style survey," so Rocksbox can suggest jewelry pieces that fit your style. You can also browse their catalog and add pieces to your wishlist. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your wishlist.

Try on the items in the box, and wear them as long as you'd like. From there, you have two choices. If you love any of the pieces enough to want to keep them, you can put your monthly "Shine Credit" towards your purchase.

Or, if you're ready for another style, return your box using the free shipping label and reusable envelope you got with your shipment. Shortly after, you'll get a brand new box of jewelry to enjoy!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Rocksbox Rental Jewelry September 2019 Review

Here's the info booklet that came with the jewelry set. It includes a product list with retail and member-specific pricing,

They also included a handy jewelry care card.

A free return shipping label is also at the bottom of the box.

FYI: The outer envelope that Rocksbox ships inside doubles as a return shipping envelope! Be careful as you cut it open—there's a second adhesive strip that can be used to reseal the envelope for its trip back.

Each jewelry item comes tucked inside its own protective pouch that can also be used as a polishing cloth.

Kendra Scott Darcy Earrings in Gold and Baroque Pearl - Listed Value $98.00, Member Price $98.00

I freaking love these earrings. I have a thing for oddly shaped natural pearls and these are pretty much delightful. They hang from a brushed gold-tone geometric French hook and are lightweight and incredibly comfortable to wear. The pearls are free moving and dangle when I move, their sheen catching the light. This is the sort of design I find myself really drawn to lately, a classic look with a modern twist!

Sophie x Sterling "Love Ya" Reversible Pave Disc Necklace - Listed Value $70.00, Member Price $59.00

I was super excited when I found out that Rocksbox will start to offer sterling silver jewelry. I have what I would consider minor metal allergies, meaning I can get away with most earrings for around 6 hours before I start getting uncomfortable. Sterling and gold are two that never bother me, but they are often hard to come across in the subscription box world. When this Sophie x Sterling collection launched, I immediately added a ton of pieces to my wishlist and this was one of them! This reversible disc is covered in pave set CZs on one side and on the other it is blank, save for a .925 mark and a very cute "LOVE YA" stamping. Because it is reversible, you could easily wear this from day to night.

Sophie x Sterling Open Teardrop Ear Climbers - Listed Value $70.00, Member Price $59.00

These climbers are another offering from the Sophie x Sterling collection and again, I like them very much! The CZ stones are bright and sparkly, and the climber feels high-quality, but still lightweight and comfortable. The minimal design style lends itself to layering with many of my other favorite earrings or I can wear them alone. You can also wear these dropping down for an edgy spike look.

The Verdict: Rocksbox managed to send me all three pieces from my wishlist this month! I liked each and every thing, though the Kendra Scott pearls were extra incredible! I also was really thrilled to try out those new sterling silver pieces, and I have to admit that they are so much more tempting to actually keep than other items from Rocksbox because I am a sucker for sterling! I can't wait to check out my pieces next month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Every box is different and packed based on the customer's tastes and what's available at the time. You can, however, give the Rocksbox stylists a nudge by adding your favorite pieces to your wishlist!

Value Breakdown: Rocksbox membership costs $21.00 per month. At retail, the three pieces would cost me $216.00. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing (including the buy-all-three-items discount, my $20 worth of Forever Credit that I have on my account, and the $21.00 of Shine Credit (the membership fee for the month, which goes towards your purchases), that price drops to $165.00.

I tried this box a few months ago. I was able to pick the three pieces I wanted, which was great. When I received the box I was excited…packaging was pretty and the jewelry was gorgeous. So I wore the ring to work the following day. It turned my finger green after about 6 hours of wear! It was supposed to be gold plated. The retail price for ring was $59! The other two pieces were beautiful to look at, but so expensive! I can’t justify paying $130 for the entire box (that was with discount) for jewelry that isn’t real silver or gold, or at least won’t tarnish. I have purchased jewelry from Lia Sophia in past that still hasn’t tarnished, so I know there are metals out there that will last. I’m so disappointed because I LOVED that ring! It was so unique and delicate. I even tried looking for similar rings but couldn’t find any. I cancelled the subscription right away and sent everything back. I didn’t have any issues with charges being applied thereafter.

These earrings are gorgeous! I have Rocksbox and in actual practice the turn around time is pretty fast. You get to choose your new set almost as soon as you put the other one in the mail. I like this sub a lot!

I love the idea of this subscription but the turn around time is ridiculous. I purposely sent my items back on a Monday to minimize the turn around time and it will take almost 2 weeks before i get my new set. They sent me an email to confirm my new set and i agreed to it within the hour.

They do not use usps when mailing out your new set.

Until they fix their turn around time I can’t recommend this service as it will spend more time in shipping than in my home even if I wear / try it for only a week.

It will take them almost 2 weeks to get it from their facility in Ohio to Austin, Texas, wear a week and then be stuck in the shipping process for another 2 weeks. So for a months of membership $21 you get to rent 3 cute pieces for 1 week. Seems a little steep and extremely frustrating.

Hi Megan,

You have some beautiful pieces…..you’re something special! LOL, I have yet to get all of my wishes granted, it’s always just the 1st one after that I have to swap until I get what I want in that particular shipment. Other than that love Rockbox! BTW, great write up as always!
