Quirky Crate September 2019 Review

Quirky Crate samples one item from a featured artist or brand each month. This month’s special find comes from Tara Maslowski. This info card gives you a little background info on their life and their work as well as some social media info.

On the flipside, Quirky Crate includes an itemized list of each product and its value. This month's theme is "All Things Pop!"

Time to get quirky, pop style!!

Andy Warhol Socks - Listed Value $9

I absolutely love these pop art socks! When I was in junior high, this flower print was my favorite; I covered all my folders and binders in it, and I am still borderline obsessed. The colors Quirky Crate chose really POP against the black background, and they actually fit my swollen feet quite comfortably.

Bob Ross Funko POP! Keychain - Retail Value $6.90

Bob Ross, an iconic American painter, hosted his instructional painting show in the '80s and '90s. I am pretty sure he coined the term "happy accidents," which is one of my favorite phrases, and he is also known for painting happy trees, etc. I collect Funko POP! figurines, and Bob Ross looks so cute as one, so I was ecstatic to see him in this month's box. Just look at that cheeky eyebrow! He is also holding his palette, which is only right.

Popcorn Purse - Listed Value $30

To date, this is my very favorite bag from Quirky Crate. Its larger size makes it more ideal for me to carry around than a lot of the other more clutch-like bags they've sent, and the design is kitschy yet so lovable. The faux leather is very soft, and the long gold chain is detachable, so if you prefer a different type of strap or none at all, you have that option.

Spill the Tea Enamel Pin - Listed Value $10

Another absolute fave in this box! This "Spill the Tea" pin is so perfect, since spilling tea is one of my favorite things to do! I love catching up and hearing a little gossip here and there - who doesn't!? Quirky Crate made this pin even better by filling the teacup with flowers. Beautiful!

Baywatch Patch - Listed Value $6

Baywatch was a little before my time, but who doesn't remember the slow-motion running (I remember the parodies more so than the actual Baywatch scenes). This patch is found on the lifeguard shorts and accessories found on the show, so this year for Halloween you can make your own Baywatch costume at home, and it would take you about 30 seconds to adhere this patch to a red piece of clothing.

Garfield Pen - Listed Value $3

This cheeky Garfield pen is very similar to a pen we received in July's box. Unfortunately, I found it impossible to open this pen; the cap just refuses to come off, and Ryan is out of town! The tip of the other pen is really fine, and it is perfect to write in the tiniest of spaces. A little bit of flair at the end of your pen is just what this quirky girl needs, especially if you have coworkers that like to help themselves to your sweet writing utensils.

Whip it Good Tea Towel - Listed Value $14

I love receiving kitchen accessories in subscription boxes! This very large tea towel (about 28" x 31") is 100% cotton. It is very thin and soft, and the message and illustration just scream 'pop!' to me. I am a little hard on tea towels at my house, so this very white, clean towel will be used as a hand drying towel.

Babe with the Power Card - Retail Value $5

This design reference wasn't obvious to me, so I had to do some digging. Turns out this is David Bowie from Labyrinth; I blew it! The boy on the card is far too sweet to be Bowie in my mind, but now that I know, I can appreciate it. The inside of the card is blank, as is the envelope that came with. This item is designed by the featured artist this month, Tara Maslowski.

The Verdict: Quirky Crate strikes again! Another very fun box filled with accessories and fun treats that will make me smile every time I see them. The total value of this box adds up to $87, more than double the $36.95 + $6.50 shipping subscription cost. I always feel QC is worth its cost because the curation and unboxing experience is fun, and you can find some really unique items to show off each month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up for a subscription, you will receive the October box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $36.95 + $6.50 shipping, which means that each of the 8 items in the box has an average cost of $5.43.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

How did you not know Bowie in Labrynth!!! Maybe she needed a full figured Bowie Goblin King with the codpiece? 😂😂😂

Not sure I would’ve known by the picture (I’ve only seen the movie once), but the quote definitely gave it away for me! Love the whip it good towel…that song is stuck in my head now, though.
