Luxe Catch is a monthly-themed, women’s surprise fashion box with a mix of clothing, accessories, jewelry, handbags/small leather goods, beauty, and footwear. Some brands you might expect to see are Ralph Lauren, Kate Spade, Coach, YSL, True Religion, Elie Tahari, Tory Burch, and more (basically any popular designer sold in major department stores today, can be featured in your future catch).

Luxe Catch offers two different levels of subscription: The Bargain Box for $50 per month (valued up to $200) and The Posh Box for $250 a month (valued at up to $1000). The Posh Box includes more items and guarantees contemporary brands or higher.

This is the review of the Luxe Catch Posh Box, $250 a month.

Luxe Catch September 2018 - Style

When you sign up, you fill out an extensive style profile. You give them an idea of stores you like to shop at, your favorite brands, and your least favorite brands. Then you choose your style from a selection of style boards and your favorite types of clothing. Lastly, you fill out a size profile. Here you can see the style board I chose, “The Dramatic.”

Note: Luxe Catch says this about return on their FAQ page - "Unfortunately, due to the nature of our business we do not accept returns or refunds. All items included in our boxes are carefully curated and priced with the greatest value in mind."

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Luxe Catch Posh Box “Beach Bum” July 2019 Review

July's theme is “Beach Bum” and includes styles for hot-weather adventures. Orders for this box were June 1-30 (shipped in July). Luxe Catch always sends out spoilers and sometimes sends "choosy" emails so you can pick your type of items. They ask for your preference and you also have the option to let them know of any special requests. This is a great opportunity to work with the stylists to find something that is right for you.

You can post a picture of your catch on social media (and tag Luxe Catch) for a chance to win a free box!

With the Posh Box, I receive a print-out with "The Luxe Find" which gives info on the brands included and offers tips for styling my new pieces. There is also an invoice with the MSRP of the items and a breakdown of the savings.

Value and savings breakdown for my Posh Catch! This month, I received 2 pieces from Halston Heritage and 2 from La Maison Talulah.

You can see that one of my items has a strikethrough and the note, "Surprise beach item."

Sleeveless Round Neck Knit Dress by Halston Heritage, M - MSRP $195

My first item this month is this sleeveless, stretch knit dress. The neckline is a high cut, light cowl with a fun peephole in the back closed with an elastic loop and button. There is pleating at the left hip which gives the knee-length hem an asymmetrical cut. This dress must run really small though because I couldn't even start to get it on. Admittedly, my measurements are a bit bigger than normal, but even in my best shape, I don't think this would fit comfortably.

Square Neck Cami with Smocking by Halston Heritage, M - MSRP $195

Now, this is a color I probably wouldn't pick for myself! But, I'm liking it, especially with the slight (and I mean slight) tan I get in the summer. The fabric is so beautiful and the details look so luxurious. The outer, flowy layer is 100% silk so it has a matte, slightly crinkled look. The lining is made of polyester and provides opaque coverage and some slight stretch. The ruching detail at the neckline is feminine and gives the tank a halter-like cut. My only complaint is that I'd have to either embrace the no-bra look or find a sticky solution that stays put.

Lullaby Mini Dress by La Maison Talulah, M - MSRP $320

I want to love this dress so bad! It has an ultra-flattering cut and accentuates all of the good while drawing attention away from any areas I don't like to highlight. The fabric is a unique mix of silk and linen with dainty details. The plunge neckline is sexy without being too revealing and the ruffles are the perfect balance of full and sleek. But, like with the first dress, I'm having some fit issues. It's small in the chest and I can't get it to zip all the way up in the back. I could work with this by having the zipper altered to stop where you see in the picture. Then it would just have a low back look. But, the length of the lining is so short, that exposure is bound to happen. It would be perfect if it was the same length as the sheer layer. Again, I could probably wear a slip and make it appear longer, but I'd rather it just be right as is.

Voyeur Ananda Pant by Eberjey, M/L - Retail Value $97.03 on Amazon (I couldn't find this item anywhere else reliable online)

So this is the item that was noted as the "surprise beach item" and came in place of sequin shorts. I usually love anything Eberjey and these are precious with their shibori style print and ruffled, open legs. They're made of 100% viscose and are flowy, light, and super silky. I'm surprised that even though these are a M/L they are so tight. I'd think they would run on the looser side like most beach pants. They also don't have any stretch, so I feel that I might rip them if I sit. I do have a curvy lower body area, so these will most likely go to my mom who is much slimmer in her hips and legs.

The Verdict: The "Beach Bum" Posh collection has a nice selection of items for hot summer weather. The fabrics and luxury details are impressive and the clothing style is right on. Unfortunately, sizing and fit issues had a major impact on my satisfaction this month. Only one of the items fit and I couldn't even begin to get one of them on. Since there are no returns or exchanges with this box, there is a risk associated with this box, both in fit and style preferences since the items are a surprise. I'm going to reach out and see if I can work with CS to see which sizes I need to adjust for the future and to see what, if anything, can be done about these pieces.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The “Beach Bum” box sign up period has passed but you can check out the current theme on their Insta feed. If you sign up September 1-31, you'll receive the "Fall Forward" October box as your first catch. From Luxe Catch:

If you placed a new order between 1-31 of the month, it ships within the first two weeks of the following month. Example: If you order July 5th, expect your order to ship in the first two weeks of August. LUXE CATCH boxes renew every 15th of the month for existing orders.

ACTIVE DEAL: Save 20% off your first box!
CODE: MSAROCKS

Value Breakdown: The 4 items I received in my Posh Box have an MSRP of $807.03. The Posh Box costs $250, so there's a savings of $557.03 off MSRP. Many readers have mentioned being able to find these brands on sale for less at different retailers but I'm basing this breakdown on original MSRP.

Warning if you’re considering this box. Luxe Catch charged me for my second box. Agreed to refund me, but never did. I’ve been fighting through the Better Business Bureau since September and they have stopped responding. The have stolen my money.

How can that possibly be in this day and age? It’s the polar opposite of companies like Nordstrom who excel in customer service and will do whatever needs to be done for customer satisfaction. It sounds like a perfect formula to drive your business into the ground. I appreciate your review! Please let us know their response to you.

Any updates since you contacted customer service?

Ugh. That box is a hot mess. I wouldn’t pay $250 for those 4 pieces even if they fit.

I was really intrigued with this box the first review of this, sometimes the items they send are so gorgeous. After keeping up with the reviews though, nothing about this is appealing. Initially items seemed to actually look and be luxe, I believe at one point they sent a leather jacket. These items, while cute are certainly not worth the price tag.

The lack of a return policy is also absurd. I have to wonder if the sizing and lack of returns is because the company only has so many sizes or quantities of an item and they are just sending what they have.

I don’t know why anyone would take a risk on a $250 non-returnable box of clothes when there are so many better options available. You can get similar styles/brands/prices on Poshmark, Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off Fifth, Thred Up, etc.

I only got 2 items in my box and one was SO ugly.

Seems like you might want to size up for the next box, so you can at least put on the clothes you’re “spending” so much money on (I know this is free to the reviewer) and then you can get them tailored to fit properly. I am different sizes in different brands, and I wouldn’t be comfortable spending so much money on a mystery box with mystery sizing.

You do look nice in everything. Love the black dress. But like others have stated I would never sign up for this. I wanted to when I first read reviews but the sizing always seems inconsistent and some of those colors and designs are bound to wind up at Nordstrom Rack near me for a super bargain.

People need to think of this box as buying clothes online that are final sale. If they don’t fit you have to be ok with losing money.

Julie

Except if you’re buying clothes online at final say you have a say in both the size, brand, and style whereas here I’ve read numerous people get smaller sizes than they listed and were SOL. Nordstrom has a calculator of what size this would accommodate for comparable brands which helps me a lot.

Joy

Completely agree with you Julie. I think the closest thing to this is the ModCloth mystery sales but with those you at least know what category of items you’re getting, ie dress or shirt. Leaving fit, number of garments, type of garments up to their judgement is a little too much mystery for me when there are no exchanges, especially at a $250 price point. I also hate that they don’t guarantee an RV minimum, note they say up to $1,000 RV, and in this case they substituted a pair of $130 pants for a pair of $230 shorts that were supposed to be included.

Connie

This box is a lot to spend on clothing that may not be your taste or fit issues. Curious what kind of response you receive.

You look hot in the black dress! I’m married. So not trying to hit on you. Lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

Not understanding the “beach bum” reference. These items scream “city” to me.

Carey

That black dress IS.EVERYTHING.!! I absolutely love it! How about adding a pair of opaque tights and/or boots for the fall season? I’m no prude but do not like the idea of flashing folks so tend to wear bike shorts or dark tights to be able to wear things I otherwise would just get to look at. lol

And like the others have said, I would love to see if there is any resolution to your issues. Being that the box is free to MSA and this sites’ exposure I’d bet they will be more than happy to accomodate you. That also brings up the question of what happens if a regular subsriber has these issues?

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

Subscribers have posted comments on previous reviews saying that the box have refused to help with fir or exchanging sizes. They’ve even sent items in the wrong sizes that the subscribers profile and refused to exchange it. I definitely wouldn’t risk signing up. It’s nothing for MSA since they’re getting the box for free. But real subscribers are losing $250 on each box and getting items that don’t fit and customer service that refuses to help.

Nanci

I agree. Stop promoting this box! Or at least pay for it and give a real review.

Daria

Super nice items and you’re obviously gorgeous, but that’s a lot of money for items that don’t fit properly and can’t be returned.

Jenna

I WOULD NOT recommend this box. I signed up because of a guaranteed choice option and they didn’t even send me what I chose. I also had to email them 20 times to get my box resent after UPS returned to sender. They are super helpful at the beginning and 0 helpful at the end.

So is the review late or shipment late? It’s still hot here but would hate to get this in September instead of July!

Carolyn

I certainly agree that you look good in everything. Can you update these comments after you speak to the company and tell us what the resolution is. Thank you
