Laurel & Reed August 2019 Review

open Laurel and Reed outer box

Your box will ship in a plain outer box to preserve the lovely ribbon.

There's a card which simply states all of the things you can expect from the subscription and another info card that features a lovely print on one side with the items clearly listed out with retail prices and short descriptions on the other.

Harlow Youth Dew Face Elixir, 1 oz. - Retail Value $72.00

I'm loving the simple label and cute logo for this brand, Harlow. The serum is really rich and smells enchanting. I have a feeling this will be a great one for colder months since it feels like it can really boost hydration in the skin and I'll probably use this one more at nighttime which will make for a lovely routine. The info card from L&R suggests pairing this with a gua sha tool which sounds like a fantastic idea to me.

Terrene Orchid Dew, - Retail Value $34.00

I am coming around to this night treatment. It has a thin milky look and consistency to it but gets slightly gummy or elastic-like once on the skin. Its main ingredients are white orchid milk extract, Aspen bark, rosehip seed oil, ginseng, and ceramides that come together to condition, exfoliate, restore, and help reduce dark spots on the skin. I think I'll need to use it longer to see if it's helping me at all, but for now, I like the evening ritual before moisturizing.

PLANT Apothecary Matcha Antioxidant Face Mask, 2 oz. - Retail Value $24.00

YASSSSS! I actually got this mask in another box not too long ago and simply adore it. PLANT Apothecary is a great clean skincare brand and this mask is incredibly calming. Matcha and chamomile are the heavy hitters here, although there's nothing heavy about them. A few drops of water or gentle toner or mist will turn this light green fine powder to an ultra-creamy mask that feels divine when being spread on the face. This might be one of my favorite masks and is perfect for chilling out irritated or red skin.

BKIND Floral Hand Balm, 50 g - Retail Value $11.99

I am a huge fan of BKIND's packaging. It's always so feminine and beautiful and the label on this hand balm is no exception with it's illustrated flowers and gold foil lettering. This balm comes in a solid form that quickly thins out when warmed in between your palms. Like the Harlow Face Elixir, I think this lightly floral scented balm will be better used come wintertime or the approaching crisp fall days. While I'm not the biggest fan of balms like this, Megan perked up when she saw this, so I'll be gifting it to her!

The Verdict: Laurel & Reed has presented me with four lovely products from a couple of familiar brands and a couple of new-to-me brands. They always choose beautifully packaged items that get me excited to try. The four items featured this month have a retail value of $141.99 which is pretty darn great for a box that costs $56.90.

I ordered a mystery box and the August box and received tracking. Today I received the August box but no mystery box. I sent an email but have not heard back yet. Did anyone order more than the mystery box and were they shipped separately?

Hi Connie

I just sent you an email regarding your Mystery Box Mini.

Thanks!

I didn’t order more than a mystery box at one time. My mystery box took about 4 days to ship. But when I ordered monthly box, it shipped the next day. Their customer service is so good. I am sure you will hear something back in no time

Connie

Thank you! I did hear from someone and they are checking on it for me.

I like the sound of the Orchid Dew as I like serums that are tacky on the skin. I have been using Skin Actives collagen serum for several years and the tackiness feels like a glue for the skin. It makes be believe that it is binding and tightening my skin cells together. I will keep an eye out for the Dew serum or buy this box.

I got my mini box today, same items as everyone else! I’m really happy with it. I think I’ll put everything to good use, I’m especially excited about the facial oil and the elixir!

I ordered two of the mini boxes since they had been sold out otherwise, hoping for no duplicates. Welll…… every item is the exact same fyi. lol Beautiful packaging though and I got a good amount in each box so I hope it’s not a waste of $30 for the extra set. 🙂

Luna

Ooooh, would you mind sharing what you got in your mystery box? 🙂 They finally sent me my tracking info last night (I never emailed them about it so I guess my box is in a late batch or something), and it’s still in pre-shipment status. I got the big haul box (or whatever it was called), so I can’t wait to see what I get (or what people say they got)!

Carey

I posted but there is a delay apparently. lol

Carey

Heya Luna! I got the following in BOTH boxes:

Revival Grapefruit & Mint Body Scrub Pouch – Good size
Ogee Seeds of Youth Serum- 20ml
Provision Purify Spray Deodorant-Full Size glass bottle @ 1.7oz VERY weird lol
Nebula Face oIl- Small glass vial
A thoughtful but cheesy little plastic bowl and spoon for masking
Selia & co Geranium and White tea skin tonic- full size @ 2 oz
Loli Purple Corn Grains powder cleanser- small glass jar

I posted a few on the swaps side and will get the rest up later, some of the items have not been in a previous box ie: the deodorant but the brand was included. From what i can tell the items came from like Jan 2019 and on.

I’m kinda bummed, the only item I will use is the small face oil. lol Oh and maybe I will try one of the powder cleansers, it got great reviews here but I hate mixing stuff to clean my face. hehe

Nat

I am hoping some of these products are in mystery box.

I just saw from the post above that the mystery boxes were back in stock. I was able to order the mini and used GOGREEN for a 15% discount, which almost covered the shipping cost. The email confirmation I received said the order would ship immediately. Very excited!

Annette

Both of my shipping conf came yesterday, 1 of those I just ordered yesterday when i saw the Mini mystery was back in stock!!! Hope that helps.

Luna

Has anyone received shipping yet for their mystery boxes? Or maybe did they said they’d ship on a specific date and I missed it and I’m just being overly anxious to see what I get. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Thanks everyone! I’ll double check my emails… maybe I missed the shipping email. I know I got something from them last week, but I think it was just a Welcome to Laurel & Reed email. I double check. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Carey

I actually received THREE emails from them. lol One was the welcome one, then one said they were shipping and then the last one with the tracking number, lol I have not had any experience with this company before but they seem to be on the ball. They promised to ship on a certain date and actually followed through. 😀

Carey

Hi Luna!! I **think** both of my mini boxes are coming tomorrow! They said shipping was gonna be yesterday and it’s coming Prioirty mail. 🙂
