Ecocentric Mom August 2019 Review

Each box includes a card with a link to this page where we can filter by age to see the products from our box. This is great to check out if you are considering this subscription as you can see what items you might receive in another age group. It looks like they've updated the card's look this month and I think it looks much nicer than its predecessor!

Begin Again Toys Earthworm - Retail Value $10.95

I'm always happy to receive a toy from this brand! Their wooden toys are unique, great quality, and they use sustainably harvested rubberwood along with water-based stains making them both safe and eco-friendly! This earthworm is so cute and the perfect size for my son to hold and play with. He already loves it! The wooden pieces are on a stretchy piece of string so each individual piece can twist and turn which provides a lot of entertainment and also allows him to be bent into different directions and shapes (although the movements are slightly limited). I am thinking this will be a great car toy!

Cloud and Droplet Toy by Ubbi - Retail Value $9.99 (found here for $9.84)

This bath set is so cute! I immediately replaced a few of our old bath toys with these since they will easily distract the kids from wondering where their (old and probably moldy) bathtub squirty fish went! This set came with a little booklet highlighting a few of the other products Ubbi offers.

The set consists of a cute gray cloud and an adorable water droplet made from non-toxic materials free of PVC and phthalates. It has one larger hole at the top of each shape and several smaller holes on the bottom so that the water can "rain" through. These are also dishwasher safe and they completely open up to clean them out to keep them from getting moldy! Yay! The material of the top is a little softer while the bottom has a little weight to it, and while I am able to get them apart fairly easily, they attach tightly enough that they should hold together well through some bathtime play! The softer top also means you can squeeze it to control your "rainfall." These are a fun little bath toy! Plus they look super cute sitting on the side of our tub!

Mavi Bandz Headband in Mediterranean Blues - Retail Value $14.99 (found here for $12.99)

This is the second Mavi Bandz headband that I have received in a box (I don't remember where my first came from!) and I was happy to see this one in a pattern that I really love! These fabric headbands are awesome because they are adjustable and also have this non-slip fabric on the inside that helps it stay put in your hair. I always have a lot of trouble with headbands since my head is pretty large, but these work well since I can adjust it to the perfect size and the fabric seems to grip my hair and keep it in place. They also included a 40% off code for their website which is a pretty nice discount!

Here is the headband in my hair (along with my daughter who thought I was just taking pictures of myself and asked to be in them - haha).

Vermillion Cosmetics Hyaluronic Lip Masks - Retail Value $12.00

The next item for mama was this set of five hyaluronic lip masks. These masks are vegan, cruelty-free, allergen-friendly, and organic, along with free from gluten, sulfates, and parabens. They are meant to condition and plump your lips naturally with collagen and hyaluronic acid and they can even help reduce wrinkles and fine lines around your lips. These were just as slippery as other lip masks I've tried, but they have a slit in the center so you can achieve a better fit and also sort of grip the layers between your lip to help keep it in place a bit better. The mask itself felt cool and refreshing on my lips and afterward (about five minutes) my lips definitely looked plumper and the skin around my mouth might have even been a bit tauter! I like that there were five masks in the pack and I'm going to bring the rest on an upcoming family trip to have my mom and sisters try them out, too!

Sonage Presage Moisturizer SPF 15, 1.7 fl oz - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $60.00

This moisturizer looks and feels luxurious from the formula to the weighty acrylic jar it comes in. It contains vitamins A, C, and E along with hazelnut seed oil, aloe vera leaf, sweet almond oil, jojoba seed oil, and other ingredients to fight environmental aging and leave your skin hydrated and glowing. I like that it is made from natural, non-toxic, botanical ingredients and contains mineral sunscreen with SPF 15 which will make this an ideal choice for me in the winter months! After patting it into my skin, as recommended, I was surprised at how well it absorbed, especially with just patting it on! A little bit goes a long way with this and it left my skin feeling silky and smooth. I could feel a slight texture to my skin after (similar to after using mineral sunscreen) but it was very light and after applying my makeup, it was not noticeable at all.  I'm excited to see what the long term results will be as the reviews seem pretty promising! This company also has a great mission of providing quality products that are both natural and environmentally-friendly and there was even a little sticker with a code for 20% off their site right inside the box which was nice to find.

Verdict: This month my Ecocentric Mom box had such a great balance between mom and baby items and it really felt like a special box to me. There were two baby items and both of them were great quality, very unique, and toys that I see us using for years to come. The items for mom were practical and pampering and that moisturizer definitely felt like a high-end treat, especially to a mom like me with tired and rapidly aging (thanks, kids!) skin. The total retail value comes to $107.93 which is amazing for a $38.99 + free shipping box! I am definitely one happy mama this month!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
