Creepy Crate Witchcraft Edition Review

Creepy Crate Spooky Goodies Summer 2019 - Instruction Card Top

This box’s selections this month have a spooky, occult theme. Something witchy this way comes with this Creepy Crate!

Harbinger of Death Necklace — Retail Value $25

Ravens are often associated with loss and ill omen. In German stories, ravens have symbolized damned souls. In Swedish folklore, they are the ghosts of murdered people that forego Christian burials. This necklace displays a raven and a pentacle to provide protection against ill will and harm to the wearer. The pendant is made of a blessed steel alloy and hangs from an adjustable chain.

Black Hill Regional T- Shirt, Size L — Retail Value $20

I remember when the Blair Witch Project came out, I was in high school yet (I know, I just aged myself with that one). It was eerie and suspenseful due to the found footage style filming—it would make you jump in your theater seat and cling onto your friend for dear life! Black Hills Forest is located outside of Burkittsville, Maryland in Frederick County. Black Forest Hills Regional Park is in reference to where the found footage was discovered in the Blair Witch movie! I absolutely love this retro ringer T-shirt style, plus the top is extremely comfortable! I am eager to wear this and see who gets the reference! I just don’t plan on wearing this while walking in a forest with my camera any time soon. Just to be on the safe side.

Spell Book and Broom Pen — Retail Value $10.00 (on sale for $7.50)

I love a good theme, and this witchy note book and pen are perfect for this month’s selections! The broom detail is made of actual coarse strands you would find on an old school broom. The pen is ball point ink, so it won’t dry out without a cap. The spell book is small enough to fit in your pocket. Bring it out to jot down a special concoction or even to remind yourself to get milk on the way home!

Creepy Crate Spooky Goodies Summer 2019 - Sage and Lavender Bath Bomb Top Creepy Crate Spooky Goodies Summer 2019 - Sage and Lavender Bath Bomb In Hand Top Creepy Crate Spooky Goodies Summer 2019 - Sage and Lavender Bath Bomb 1 Top

Sage and Lavender Bath Bomb — Retail Value $8

I am a big fan of baths versus showers, so I was eager to give this bath bomb a whirl! The bath bomb is purple and green to represent the prominent lavender and sage ingredients. I generally love lavender not only for its scent, but also for it being a purifying, relaxing herb. Sage is used to cleanse as well, so this sounded like an ideal bath bomb to use after a hard day at the office. The scent was not as strong as I had hoped, but the soak I took was rejuvenating. The only negative is that this bomb did not produce much if any bubbles, sadly.

Creepy Crate Spooky Goodies Summer 2019 - Conjure Wife by Fritz Leiber Front

Conjure-Wife-by-Fritz-Leiber-Back

Conjure Wife by Fritz Leiber — Retail Value $4.99

Conjure Wife is a classic horror novel that the 1962 film, Burn, Witch, Burn, was based on. The book is about a professor, Norman Saylor, that researches and teaches witchcraft, but merely considers it quaint and superstitious. That is until he realizes his wife is in fact a witch that has put a spell on him to protect him against his peer’s wives’ spells to further their husband’s careers. This is a wildly good read that I strongly suggest, especially if you have seen, Burn, Witch, Burn!

Creepy Crate Spooky Goodies Summer 2019 - The Collector by Fiona Cummins Front Creepy Crate Spooky Goodies Summer 2019 - The Collector by Fiona Cummins Back

The Collector by Fiona Cummins — Retail Value $9.99 (found here for $9.60)

The Collector is a sequel to Cummins’ book, Rattle. Both books detail a deranged serial killer named Brian Howley. The book leaves off after Detective Sergeant Etta Fitzroy escapes from Howley, and he manages too as well! Howley takes on a new identity and name to continue on in his collection of the macabre, taking on new victims. This book is a terrifyingly suspenseful page turner. Do not read at night like I did, guys!

Verdict: Creepy Crate continues to deliver scares all year long! I enjoyed the witchcraft theme for the selections in this month’s box. My favorite items this month were the Blair Witch themed ringer tee and the Conjure Wife e-book! The Harbinger of Death necklace is wonderfully made as well. Truly, I cannot get over all the items you get for the cost—it is a wicked good value! I tallied up the six items in this month’s selections—they came up to $75.48! That is an unreal deal considering the box is $39.99! This is an amazing gift for your favorite horror/ true crime/occult aficionado!

While I love the idea of the box, the proclaimed value seems wildly inflated (even more so than usual for subscription boxes). Everything aside from the shirt looks like it came from the dollar store.

Loved the review. But even more I love how you rock these round neck tees. Please tell me how you do it because I can’t wear anything but a neck without looking dumb! So I toss out a ton of cute shirts! And you look amazing in them!

Awe thanks, Elbee! I am sure you look great in them! I am not sure what to tell you since this is just styled with jeans. But I appreciate your kind words!
