Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 Review

Fall is in the air, and that means pumpkin crafts! This month we received all of the necessary supplies to create 2 wooden pumpkin stands, 2 greeting cards, and 2 gift bags. My 6-year-old son Hank was my crafting buddy this month, and we had a blast! Check out our fun projects!

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Instruction Sheet Top

Every month, this box comes with an instruction sheet detailing the steps to take to create the included projects. I find the pictures most helpful, but if extra assistance is needed, their website is also very valuable.

The Project Materials

The first project we created was the wooden pumpkin stands. These cute stands are made from wood slices and can be customized to your liking. The directions were easy to follow, and they turned out really cute!

Wood Stands

The main part of our first project was these wooden stands. They are 9” X 1” sanded pieces of wood with pre-drilled holes.

Wood Slices

We received 8 pre-cut wood slices that are to be used as the pumpkins. I wish we would have received 10, because I really liked the look of the project with 5 pumpkins, but we didn’t both have enough to create it, so we both did the 3 pumpkin style.

The next included item was the glue stick for assembling the card.

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Antique Parchment Acrylic Paint Top

Apple Barrel Antique Parchment Acrylic Paint (2 oz) Retail Value - $0.99

Like I have said before, I love Apple Barrel acrylic paint, and this subscription is upping my supply! We use this American-made paint for so many crafts! We love getting it because we have extras for other projects!

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Tacky Glue Top

Aleene’s Tacky Glue (0.66 fl oz) - Retail Value $1.39

We received a bottle of this premium all-purpose adhesive. It was used to adhere our decorative paper to our wood base, but it could also be used to attach the front layer of pumpkins to your stand, if you used 5 wood slices.

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Paint Brush Top

I love how this company sends everything you need to complete these projects! You really can’t have enough paintbrushes, and in case you didn’t have a black or purple colored pencil, you do now! It was also helpful that they sent the permanent marker, although we didn’t end up using it. The only thing we needed to have on hand was a pair of scissors.

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Leaves For Pumpkins Top

These are the embellishments for our pumpkins. We received dowels, wood stems, green wire for the pumpkin vines, and leaves for the pumpkins.

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Gift Bags Top

Thank you, Confetti Grace, for sending us gift bags to package our projects in! We love giving these out as gifts (especially to grandmas) and this really helps tie everything together!

Project #1 Wooden Pumpkin Stands

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Hank Painting Top

The first step in this project is to cover your workspace and get out the paint. We found these little plastic paint palettes at the dollar store and love them for keeping our paint colors separate! The directions state you can either paint the wood base orange or leave it natural. Hank and I both wanted a natural base, so we skipped that step and started painting our wood slices orange. The directions show to keep an unfinished edge all the way around the wood slice, but Hank didn’t like that idea, so he painted the entire wood slice. I chose to follow directions and kept mine natural around the edges.

Once the pumpkins were painted, we had to let them dry. We painted them pretty thick, so we waited around an hour before we moved onto the next step.

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Painting on Faces Top Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Pumpkins Faces Top

The next step was to decide how you would decorate your pumpkins. They showed pictures of plain pumpkins, ones with names on them, and ones with faces. I decided to leave mine plain, while Hank wanted to add faces. Although the paint was plenty dry, we found the marker to not write as well as we had hoped, so he used a little bit of black paint we had left from a previous project, and painted the faces on instead. As a tip that I didn’t think of until it was too late: be sure to locate the dowel hole before decorating your wood slice with a face. Hank painted a face that ended up being sideways because we forgot to line it up with the holes. Whoops!

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Inserting Dowel top

After the paint dried, we added the dowels to the bottom of the pumpkins. You are then able to put the remaining end in the hole on the stand.

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Add leaves and Stems Top

After the pumpkins are in their proper place, you can pick out a wooden stem to insert in the top of the pumpkin. After I inserted the “stem” of the pumpkin, I added the leaf and used the green wire to knot it on the top and curl it to look like a pumpkin vine. The directions show you can use glue, but I wanted to be able to change mine around if need be. After this was complete, I used the tacky glue to adhere my decorative paper and fall saying to the base of my stand.

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Hank Finished Front

Here is Hank’s finished product! Like I said above, we forgot to make sure the hole was on the top of the pumpkin before he started painting, so one of his pumpkins is “rolling” but I think it turned out really sweet! A photo of my completed project is at the bottom of the review. It was really fun and simple to put together!

Project #2: Bat Cards

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Scissors Top Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Coloring Top

I love this month’s cards! They are a little more time consuming than the last few months, but are so cute! The first step was to cut out the mason jar, and color it with the included colored pencils.

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Adding Ribbon and Tag Top

Next, we added the included twine and tag to the top of the mason jar. It was a little tricky for Hank, but with a little help, it turned out darling!

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Adding Glue and Mas on Jar Top

We then glued the black background on the card, and added our little colored paper to the bottom. After that was attached, we put glue on the back of our mason jar, and voila, it’s complete!

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Completed Cards Top

Here are our completed cards! They are so unique and fun! I can’t wait to send them out!

Confetti Grace Original DIY Box September 2019 - Projects Complete Top

And here are all of the projects completed. We created 2 fun pumpkin stands, 2 batty greeting cards, and have the gift bags to give them in!

Verdict: Confetti Grace is always fun! We actually grow pumpkins to sell, so any type of pumpkin craft is really welcome in our home. This project was fun and pretty easy, and a great bonding experience for me and my son. I love that Confetti Grace includes all of the necessary items (except for scissors) to create these fun projects. The fact that they send everything you need to package these projects as gifts is a huge plus! We can’t wait to see what we get to create next month!

Confetti Grace costs $28.95 a month, so each gift package averages out to about $14.48. I feel this is a pretty good value because they include everything but the scissors and table protectant to create 2 beautiful homemade gifts. You also have to take into account the quality time you are spending with your crafting buddies, and the life skills they learn while they are doing it! We love Confetti Grace!

Very cute, but I wonder why they sent one 5 pumpkin patch and 3? Their pictures show them that way as well. Odd choice.

I subscribe to this already and love it. I thought the extra every month would sit around and not be used too. I also have no family around here. But I have given away and gifted every one so far. Last months are both being given as a birthday gift this weekend! Haven’t made my pumpkins yet but can’t wait to!

I keep debating getting this one… but I don’t know what I would do with the extra craft each month! I don’t think I could think of enough people to gift it to without having to add in extra cost to mail (we don’t live near family). But I think this would be so fun to do with my kids!

Sometimes it is hard to find someone to give it to, but I have found my kids want to put them on display in their rooms. They are so proud! Thanks for commenting Pamela!

These are terrific! Becca, you might want to try placing the stem and leaf on the sideways jack o lantern on its actual top…to the side…that would make it even more darling than it already is!

That is a superb idea Alice! I am getting out my hot glue gun right now! Thanks for commenting!
