Bonjour Jolie August 2019 "Movie Time" Review

This month's Bonjour Jolie box theme is "Movie Time" and I thought this was just the cutest theme! Our information card looks like a giant movie ticket and lists some of our items and their retail values.

Let's start with the goods. All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that usually fits within our theme. These little popcorn bags are perfect!

When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.

Seventh Generation Tampons, Super (7)- Buy 18 for $6.79

Seventh Generation Ultra-Thin Overnight Pads (10) - Buy 28 for $7.99

Kotex Light Days Long Liners (3) - Buy 96 for $5.49

You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products. This month I received 7 tampons, 10 pads, and 3 liners.

Summer's Eve Cleansing Cloths in Aloe Love (2) - Buy two boxes of 16 for $8.44

They send cleansing cloths like these each month which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them to freshen up.

Advil To-Go Packs (2) –  Buy 100 2-packs for $8.53

These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.

Popcornopolis Gourmet Popcorn in Kettle Corn - Listed Value $1.00

What good would a movie-themed box be without some popcorn? In this case, we received a yummy bag of kettle corn that I unsuccessfully tried to savor (anybody else feel like shoveling it in your mouth in handfuls is the only way to eat popcorn?). The popcorn had a nice layer of sweet, crystallized sugar over it and every few pieces I'd get a nice bite of salt to balance it all out. So yummy! I couldn't find this size on their website other than in a mixed assortment, so I used the listed value for these since I would gladly pay $1.00 for a bag of this!

Caramel Popcorn Bath Cupcake by Blissful Apothecary - Listed Value $7.00

Our next popcorn-themed item smells good enough to eat and is pretty cute! This cupcake bath bomb smells like buttery caramel with just a subtle hint of popcorn. It's not necessarily a scent I would have chosen, but it fits in so well with our theme that I don't mind at all. This bath cupcake can be broken into pieces and thrown into the bath to help soften your skin. While they don't have much listed in their shop, this is the same shop that provided the adorable cinnamon roll soap from our November 2018 "Remember When" box.

Movie Night Bracelet by Take 22 - Listed Value $15.00

This Movie Night bracelet is really fun and perfect for any movie buff. The presentation is also pretty cute with the tiny clapboard sticker on the black box. The bracelet itself features several charms such as a potato chip bag, movie reel, and a little clapboard reading Take 22. While it might not be something that I will actually wear personally, I still think it's a cute addition to our box! I am not so sure about the value since the website listed turned up no results.

It has an adjustable clasp, but you can see that even on the smallest setting, it is huge on my wrist. (Sorry for the blurry photo!). I think it could still be adjusted a bit further though if need be!

Our edibles all came packaged inside this cute red bag.

Jelly Belly Popcorn Jelly Beans, 1 oz. - Listed Value $1.50 (Buy a box of 30 for $30.38 here)

Cute! Popcorn-flavored jelly beans are another great inclusion! They actually didn't taste as awful as I thought they would, but I passed these along to my husband and son after trying a few and they enjoyed them.

M&M's, 1.69 oz. - Listed Value $1.00 (Buy a box of 36 for $35.95 here)

This is one of my favorite movie snacks, although we used to sneak our own in instead of paying movie theatre prices. Shh! I am always in the mood for M&M's so it was nice to get a full-size bag of them! Plus they are listed as "America's #1 favorite movie candy!"

Twizzlers, 2.5 oz -  Listed Value $0.50 (Buy a box of 18 for $29.67 here)

I am a Twizzlers girl, so I am glad they didn't go the Red Vine route for this next snack. Talk about ultimate movie theatre treat - these were a good pick, and the #2 choice for top movie candies!

Nostalgia Tea in Clockwork Orange - Listed Value $6.00

This month's tea is so cute! I love the little tin with the movie reel sticker and it was fun to have a loose tea as opposed to the bags that they usually send. This tea has nice large pieces of herbs and dried oranges in it and it came with three reusable tea bags tucked inside. The flavor was really good too - mostly orange, but not too robust, and a bit of chamomile on the finish that made it feel like a good tea for relaxing. I was unable to locate this one using the website listed and a brief search didn't turn up anything either.

Verdict: How cute was this month's movie-themed Bonjour Jolie box? I guess I am a sucker for a theme because each time, they get me! Even if I won't always use all of the items (the bracelet), I get so much pleasure from seeing how they tie into the theme through the items they send. They always send a great mix of edibles and this month it was nice to receive several full-size candies. The only thing that does give me pause is the fact that some of the websites they list couldn't be found. Not such a big deal for the bracelet, but a little iffy when it comes to the tea, although it says it is hand-mixed in small batches, so hopefully it is simply a matter of the company being local and too small for a website. As for the value we received, I estimate it to be about $39.05 which is pretty good for a $24.48/month ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) box! It's a really fun way to get the essentials you need for that not-so-fun time of the month!

Tampons and Pads have toxic chemicals and are also bad for the environment. I bought some resusable pads from Etsy and I just wash them monthly.
