Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences. After choosing when you'd like to receive your delivery, your stylist handpicks 5 items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Stitch Fix for Women August 2019 Review

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items. My total came to $226, but with the 25% off (which they take off BEFORE deducting the $20!) and the $20 credit, my total drops down to $149.50. That’s a savings of $76.50 on these items.

This is my style sheet that includes a note from my stylist and features the five items I received along with different outfit suggestions and accessories that might pair well with them. My stylist is Kacey and she does an awesome job of checking out my Pinterest page for ideas of what I like!

Prosperity Edyth Scissor Cut Hem Capri Skinny Jean, Size 10 - Cost to Keep $74

The first item (which I am wearing in all the photos below) are these denim capris. I thought they were really nice and I liked the cutoff look of the hem. They also fit really well and were comfortable with just enough stretch. While I really liked them, I didn't end up keeping them because I have a few pairs of capris and I have found that I just don't wear them. By the time it gets warm enough to not need pants, I go straight for the shorts to keep cool. If I knew I would wear them, they would have been keepers!

Mason & Belle Tempesta Lace Detail Tank, Size L - Cost to Keep $44

I love this top! It is my favorite item this month. The colors are so unique from anything I have in my closet and I love the green and deep orange together. I also love all of the romantic details in this top such as the see-through lace at the top of the back, the lace trim at the bottom and that pretty embroidery at the front top. It fit very comfortably and I think I could easily add a cardigan over this to wear in the fall!

Here is a closer look at the jeans on. I do really like the look of them!

FORTUNE + IVY Opal Knit Halter Top, Size L - Cost to Keep $38

This next top was nice and the material was really different and felt like decent quality. It was a softer, stretchy material that was also pretty thick. The background mimicked denim, although it felt nothing like it, and the flowers actually have some raised details that create a texture you can feel and see up close. I liked the halter top fit of this one and it was cute and comfortable although the front was a bit shapeless so I'm not sure how flattering it actually is.

Pinque Briar One Pocket Flowy Knit Tank, Size L - Cost to Keep $34

This top was the one item I was least enthused by. I love a good basic tank and the color of this one is great, but it really didn't seem like the quality was worth the cost to keep it. This is a top that I could probably get at Target or Old Navy for much less and be equally happy with it. It was sort of a swing style bottom, which I usually like, but in this case, I felt like it hung a bit awkwardly on me and flared out too much at the bottom. If I were in the market for maternity tops though, this one would be a comfortable one since it seems like it could accommodate a little bump. But that is definitely not me at the moment!

PINK CLOVER Lorie Button Back Detail Knit Top, Size L - Cost to Keep $36

This last top is similar to one I received in my April Fix and I was happy to see it because that is one of my most comfortable shirts and one I reach for often. My stylist also mentioned that it would look great with my yellow shorts from my July Fix and I always appreciate when she coordinates with pieces I already have! I really loved the striped gray back, and the colors and beautiful floral pattern are so my style. I did feel like this top was a bit too big on me though making it feel a bit shapeless. I was really hoping I could exchange this for a medium, but they had none available. I debated keeping this one even though it was a bit big, but knowing how the other top I have fits (it has gotten a bit too big on me and isn't quite as flattering any longer), I decided to send this one back, even though it made me sad.

The Verdict: This was another great Fix from Stitch Fix for me even though I didn't end up keeping everything. The capris were really nice and I don't think I have them listed as something I don't want to receive, so I don't fault my stylist for sending them. The tops were all great and definitely my style, although I just felt that the one top was overpriced for what it was. Overall, Kacey nailed my style and I love that she makes an effort to coordinate the items she sends with pieces I already own. It's that extra step that really gives this a personalized feel. The $20 styling fee is definitely worth the excitement of having pieces picked out just for me and sent to my door for me to try on in the comfort of my own home!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $226. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all 5 items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $149.50. That’s a discount of around 34% for these items.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I have been a StitchFix customer for two years. I have kept the same stylist for every fix so I feel she has really gotten to know me. What I appreciate the most though is her ability to nudge me just outside my comfort zone so I have discovered things I would have never gotten if I had just gone shopping on my own

I got the same pocket tank and also sent it back. Definitely not worth the price.

Right? Glad I’m not alone in my thinking! 🙂

PS, I would have kept the cropped jeans. I prefer my ankles to be free, so I normally roll my jeans a bit haha. They fit great! My third fix should be on the way any day, and I’m excited to see what I get. My last one was ok. I got 4 tanks and the ugliest blazer I have ever seen in my life (for me lol). I had some referral credit so I did keep three of the tanks (they fit really well and are flattering and fit my style, so they did good there since I asked for tanks). I asked for a waist-length cardigan, and they sent me a bright blue blazer (whaaat? I asked for neutrals). I kinda felt like they sent me one item they knew I wouldn’t like because I had the credits and they didn’t want me to also get the discount haha
