The Organic Bunny Box August 2019 Review

Decorative Organic Bunny Box with cactus design

You get a really nicely designed and sturdy reusable gift box each month that houses all of your organic goodies. It changes designs frequently and this month has an illustrated cactus theme.

Decorative Organic Bunny Box with lid open

The lid stays put with magnets so you can use it again after you've emptied all the goodies. It reads: "For the glamorous girl with a green heart." The Organic Bunny Box doesn't include an info card but normally has all the items listed on their website by the time it arrives.

Caley Cosmetics Beachy Kiss Natural Lip Gloss in Sunshine Sparkle - Retail Value $16.00

This gloss goes on completely clear and just leaves a shine on my lips. I'm surprised how light and not sticky it is. It's almost more of an oil than anything else which feels really hydrating. Since I prefer balms or matte lipsticks, I'm passing this one on to my friend, Sari. But it's quite nice as far as a clean light gloss!

Flourish Silky Hydrating Mist in Lavender Mint + Wild Clover, 1 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $3.33 (Buy a 9 oz. bottle for $30.00)

This hydrating mist is nice because it can be used on your skin as well as your hair. I'm not really impressed with the pump on this one since it's more of a stream than a delicate mist, but I've been spraying it into my hand first then smoothing it through my dry hair to battle my frizzies and it seems to calm them down and give my hair some hydration. I don't like it as much for the skin- it comes off slightly sticky maybe? Or it's just a little thicker than I'd like. It smells really nice though, so I'll keep using it in my hair.

Lafe's CBD Roll-On Deodorant in Matcha Tea, 3 oz. - Retail Value $18.99

There seems to be CBD everywhere these days. Here, it's in deodorant because of its natural anti-bacterial and odor-fighting properties. I don't think I've ever used a roll-on deodorant before, so this style is very new to me. Since it's a liquid, it was a little awkward since I'm so used to solid sticks, but so far it's kept me fresh all day. I barely even noticed the matcha essential oils, but there aren't any bad odors either.

My Magic Mud Activated Charcoal Toothpaste, 1 oz. - Retail Value $3.95

Charcoal toothpaste is a hard sell for me. While I actually currently use one that I really like (I got it in this box), this one from My Magic Mud is just too messy and doesn't really taste all that good. It's definitely minty but the charcoal element isn't hidden well here. I bet my roommate would use it though and since he travels a lot, this small size will do well.

Osmia Naked Body Oil, 1 oz. - Retail Value $20.00

I just can't get into body oil. I'm a lotion gal and this product didn't change my mind on the subject. I feel like I don't even use that much and I still feel like my body is messy and oiled up throughout the day after using this. I'll be keeping oils strictly on my face.

PHB Ethical Beauty Eyeliner in Black - Retail Value $12.38

I normally use liquid liner if I'm going to use eyeliner at all, so this already had a hurdle to jump for me to be excited about it. Creamy, this eyeliner ain't and it just doesn't glide like I would need a pencil to do. In the words of the great Shania Twain, this don't impress a-me much.

SPIRIT astro Luna Bundle - Retail Value $28.00

First of all- selenite is like, my fave crystal. I love to see it included in this bundle along with white sage, gypsophila, and rose. I just stumbled upon this article on how to sage your home recently on Pinterest and immediately sent it to my bestie who I was just talking about the subject with. Burning sage bundles to cleanse the energy of an area like your home is nothing new, but it's one that I am intrigued by. When I bought my house 5 years ago, the first thing a couple of my girlfriends did was come over with sage to do just that. It was a fun ritual that the three of us did together to give me a fresh start in my new space. Although this can be burned any time you feel like energy needs to be cleared, the SPIRIT astro website suggests using this during a new or full moon: hence the name, Luna Bundle. 😉

Spruce Paper Spray in Pineapple, 3.5 oz. - Retail Value $13.00

I'm all for trying new products but this is a rather unique one. They call this "paper spray" and the paper that they are referring to is of the toilet variety. The idea with this is that most of those pre-moistened wipes are not flushable but many people still want a clean feeling on the go after doing a #2. If you have this spray handy, simply give your toiler paper a spritz to moisten it and use it to freshen up after your initial wipe. My only question is- why the fruit scent? Not sure I need my bum to smell like pineapple, but to each their own!

PHB Ethical Beauty Eyeliner in black swatch in Marne's hand

Here are the lip gloss and eyeliner swatched on my hand. You can't really see the gloss since it's super sheer.

Verdict: Organic Bunny Box this month didn't really wow me. The sage bundle and deodorant were probably my favorite items this time but the rest was kinda so-so for me. There's never a strong theme here either, which is normal for Organic Bunny, but I think tying everything together in some way would make this feel less like random products tossed into a box. Overall- there seems to be a sort of fresh renewal thing going on, but I feel like I'm making that up on my own. The total estimated value of this box is $115.65 which is almost double the $59 cost.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, it looks like you can start with this box if you sign up now.

  • Toothpaste: $2.02
  • Body Oil: $10.20

Fortune Cookie Soap has a great body oil. They call it Shower Oil. It comes in a spray bottle (I often spray into my hands and apply) and is used on towel dried skin. It’s light and sinks in fairly quickly, but the moisture lasts all day for me. They often have it in their monthly collections, but they also have a fragrance free version. I use the fragrance free on my babies after bath time.

That pineapple butt spray is ridiculous.

Who wouldn’t want a bum that smells like a pina colada? 😉

Ive been with OG for over a year and this is my first disappointing box. I don’t do eyeliner, allergic to mango butter in the gloss, not sure about cbd and pregnancy, will pass on the sage bundle, using the bum spray as room spray in kiddos bathroom. So the only real wins for me are the oil and toothpaste . hoping next month is bacl to their normal amazingness.

First of all, yay! we got a new box design! Lol

I’m on the fence about the lip gloss. I love that it’s sheer so that I can apply it on top of a matte lip product for shine & the feeling of moisturized lips, but even though this swatches fine, when I try to apply it to my lips it feels like no product is on the applicator and I end up just moving my lip color around my lips and getting it all over the applicator. I’ve only tried to use it like this 2 or 3 times so I’m willing to give it a couple more shots.

I actually love the randomness of this box! That’s one of the reasons it’s one of my favorite boxes! lol However, this was the first box ever that I didn’t feel really giddy about after unboxing. Maybe because I gifted 4 items right away, and am on the fence about a 5th. But this box is still one of my favorite boxes, and even though I just received the IBE bag (Marne, did you get it? 🙂 ), I’m still seriously considering purchasing the September & October boxes (will definitely be skipping November & December due to the holidays) out of pure FOMO. lol

OMG, you got the IBE bag?? Ahhhh! No, I didn’t get it. I’m soooo overloaded as it is! I actually almost went to do it a while ago but thankfully it was sold out. Phew!
Just saw that you commented on the MSA post.. gonna go read that now!! 😉

Did you keep the Luna bundle 😉?

Luna

Lol!… no, that’s not really my thing, but I have a friend who likes using those things. 🙂

Anna

Marne,
Have you tried mixing a couple of drops of body oil into your body lotion ?

I’d have been disappointed with this box for the price.

I haven’t, but maybe I should?? Thanks for the tip, Anna!!
