The Organic Bunny Box July 2019 Review

Organic Bunny Review July 2019 - Photo of floral patterned decorative box

You get a really nicely designed and sturdy reusable gift box each month that houses all of your organic goodies. It once again changed designs this month to an aqua background with colorful flowers and beauty product illustrations!

Open Organic Bunny Box

The lid stays put with magnets so you can use it again after you've emptied all the goodies. It reads: "For the glamorous girl with a green heart." The Organic Bunny Box doesn't include an info card but normally has all the items listed on their website by the time it arrives.

Athar'a Pure Pink Lotus Healing Balm, 1 oz. - Retail Value $29.95

This balm looks quite a bit different in person and in our photos as it does on the Athar'a Pure website. Here, it's quite cream-colored with some specks of pink at the bottom, while on their site it looks very well mixed and rose-colored. I'm not big on balms since they usually feel greasy to me (with reason) and this rings especially true for summer. Something this hydrating would come in handy for me more in the winter when my skin gets more chapped. The scent is nice and floral though.

Fitglow Beauty Mini Lip Serum Trio in Liv, Buff, and Beach Glow - Listed Retail Value $45.00 (Buy a single full-size here for $42.00)

It's no secret that I don't love glosses, so even though this mini trio isn't for me, I can't help but be impressed by how intensely hydrating these "lip serums" are. It's really the perfect name for them since they do such a great job making my lips feel moisturized while the soft color gives my lips a little boost of hue. My only complaint with the colors is that two of them (Buff and Beach Glow) look so similar on (although not in their tubes) that it's hard to tell the difference. A different shade would have been nice. I couldn't find this exact set online anywhere, and $45 seems a bit steep, but the full-size versions are quite pricy so I suppose it makes sense.

Swipe through for all three lipsticks on. The last two are soooo similar on that I'm not even sure which is which, to be honest!

Jolie Maroc Green Clay Sachet and Ghassoul Mask Sachet - Total Retail Value $12.00 ($6.00 each)

Oooh- I tried the green clay sachet and must say- it's quite creamy! I love that in a clay mask. The pale, almost white powder turns a pretty matcha-green when water is added and spreads on perfectly smooth when it's the right consistency. The only ingredient here is Moroccan clay and it's made by & supports the indigenous women of Morocco. Once the mask dries, it soaks up excess oil and helps reduce skin blemishes and tighten pores. It's amazing how natural-occurring elements can do wonders for our skin! Excited to try the ghassoul clay as well. Each sachet has enough for at least a couple uses, if not more.

Lauren Brooke Banana Corrective Finishing Powder, 9g - Retail Value $20.00

This pale yellow finishing powder is made with just arrowroot powder and natural clay. It did a great job reducing shine on my face and setting my makeup before heading out. The yellow hue also naturally color corrects slight redness as well, so this can be helpful when trying to balance out your face! It comes with a tiny little puff if you don't want to use an extra brush.

Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil Mini, 3.7 mL - Retail Value $20.00

Even though the bottle included is small, only a sparing amount is needed to deliver the really soft lightweight oil to your skin and feel the results. I'm enchanted by this oil right off the bat due to its delicate natural scent and how downright hydrating it feels so quickly after soaking in. My skin feels incredibly soft without a greasy feel. What a surprising discovery after thinking I'd seen it all with oils.

Lotus Moon Hydro-Therapy Roll-On Serum, 0.37 oz. - Retail Value $30.00

I've received my fair share of eye serums in boxes but few come in a rollerball dispenser as this one does. It seems like an obvious win to do this so you don't have to get your fingers gloopy, but not all serums are on board. This depuffing and calming serum comes out evenly as it's rolled beneath the eye and only takes a few seconds to apply. It's supposed to help hydrate, soothe, and protect with all-natural ingredients. I suggest storing it rollerball-side down so that the serum is ready to come out as soon as you roll. While I can't say I saw immediate results, I enjoyed how it felt while applying.

Pure Anada Bronzed Clove Pressed Bronzer/Blush, 9g - Retail Value $14.00

I'm so glad that this is labeled as "cheek colour" because if it were called a "bronzer" I probably would've been all "not for me, wah." I know, I know, I can use whatever as whatever but now I am obsessed with this shimmery powder. I brushed it onto the apples of my cheeks as I would a blush instead of underneath (as I would a bronzer) and the result was a golden glow that made me lovesick for fall. This is going straight into my daily makeup routine. Mwah!

Tek Small Fuchsia Purse Brush - Retail Value $20.50 USD (€18.50)

With nice weather comes driving with the windows rolled down which brings tangled tresses. I have a friend who will roll with a full-size brush in her bag (along with a million other things) but that just ain't me. Enter: this little mini brush from Italian brand, Tek. I can pop this little fuchsia baby into my purse without taking up too much real estate so I can brush on the go and keep things smooth. The handle is made with 100% FSC certified ash wood with 100% FSC certified hornbeam wood bristles. I find this to be a gentle option to run through my hair when it's all out of sorts.

Luxury by Sofia Premium Lipstick in Simply Pink - Retail Value $14.99

UPDATE 8/7: This lipstick was not supposed to be included in the box and was accidentally sent. Thanks for the head’s up, Andi!

From Organic Bunny:

The Luxury By Sophia Lipstick contains Phenoxyethanol and that is not allowed in my store or box. It was supposed to be sent back but got included on accident and was NOT included in the final July line up.

This lipstick isn't listed on the website, so I'm not sure if this was an added bonus or what. I'm not familiar with the brand, but it's made in the USA with natural and organic ingredients like castor oil, sunflower seed oil, and peppermint. As you can see in the swatch (swipe to the end to see) this pink is highly pigmented and has a super creamy and hydrating formula. It's not my color, so I'll be passing it to a friend but I love the chubby stick.

Verdict: This month's Organic Bunny Box was a little all over the place for me. While everything seemed pretty great and I loved the products with few ingredients, there weren't many stand-out products besides the brush, cheek color, and oil. Organic Bunny is the perfect box for discovering products to easily switch over your beauty routine to natural and organic. It always has a good bang for your buck and this month's retail total is around $206.44!

Andi

This was my first Bunny Box, and the Fitglow glosses, brush, and Le Prunier are my favorites. The Le Prunier really helps so much to control oil on my t-zone under makeup.

BTW, Amanda posted a note in her Organic Bunnies Facebook group that the Sofia lipstick was included by mistake. According to her post, “The Luxury By Sophia Lipstick contains Phenoxyethanol and that is not allowed in my store or box. It was supposed to be sent back but got included on accident and was NOT included in the final July line up.” I have discarded mine, and suggest you do the same with yours.

Ahhhh- thanks for mentioning that, Andi! I’ll update the post.

For the pink lotus balm, it says this on the website “Please note: Some of the Beet Root Powder and Rose Clay Settles at the Bottom of the Jar (you can mix it from the bottom up or just let it be).”

Mystery solved! I need to read more carefully, huh?
Thanks, Amy!

I love the actual box and would totally subscribe if it wasn’t so expensive.

I really loved this box, especially the inclusion of the Fitglow glosses (so cute!!!) and Le Prunier oil. I really like that hair brush too! I love how the bristles are soft and don’t feel like they’re digging into my scalp like some brushes that look like that one can be like (jerks… lol). I’ve been keeping it in my car because even though I typically wear my hair back, my hair likes to surprise me with little loop-di-loops on my head that stick out at random times when I’m out & about so now I finally have something to smooth them down rather than trying to tuck them in and messing up my hair even more.

This was the last box in my 6-month sub, and I was really on the fence on whether to cut this one like I have with a few other subs recently, but I decided to keep it going because the release of this box sort of reminds me of Macy’s… once you see what’s in the current month’s box it’s too late to get it, so FOMO won out (which I’m not mad at, lol).

For me, I so wish they would reveal some or all items before the box ships out. I don’t want to spend $59 for a bunch of stuff I won’t use. Hopefully, they consider it because this box is sometimes amazing.

I also wish they would release some spoilers too! The anticipation of knowing at least two products always kills me. lol Fortunately, this box has had a really good track record with me (I’ve loved all of the boxes I’ve received from them and it’s one of my most favorite sub boxes), so I’m okay subbing blind. 🙂 However, I’m not doing a prepaid sub anymore in case I do feel like cancelling in the near future…. I’m just buying them as a one-time purchase which is the same price as if I subbed on their monthly plan. I figured the savings on a prepaid plan for this box isn’t enough to lose the convenience of being able to cancel whenever I want, and at least with the one-time purchase I don’t have to worry about cancelling at all! well… I do have to remember to purchase the next month’s box… I hope I don’t forget!
