My Fashion Crate July 2019 Review

My Fashion Crate always includes an insert with descriptions of the items and their values. The front side of the page lists everything in the Essential box, while the back gives you the Premium box details. They include pictures, which I always appreciate.

Off the Shoulder Ruffle Top, Size L - Listed Value $38.00

This off the shoulder ruffle top is a bit much for me. I love the pattern with the gray stripes, the material is nice, and I think it looks really cute in the back, but the top of the front is too busy for my tastes. It is also really tight across my bust and while you may not be able to tell from the photos it feels like a corset and doesn't allow a lot of breathing room! I think if the fit was a little better, I might like this top, but instead, it's a miss for me.

Sara Tassel Key Fob with Charging Cable by Lodis - Retail Value $19.00, Listed Value $35.00

This tassel key fob is really cute and unique! I love that it has a hidden charging cable underneath with a USB at one end and a lightning cable at the other. While this will work for me since I have an iPhone, this may not work for those who have a different type of phone, so I do feel that it is kind of limiting in that sense. I like the colors of the genuine leather tassels with one being a matte shade and the other being a shiny metallic. I think these colors will work well with a lot of handbags and it will be really convenient to have this next time I'm out and need a quick charge! This was listed as $35.00 on the card, but it looks like Lodis has it listed as $19.00 so I'm not quite sure why there is such a huge difference in price there.

Pure Cosmetics Face the Day Travel Mask Set - Retail Value $40

This set of masks features five different masks in little tubes, each of them meant to address a different skin concern. I thought this was a nice set overall and the masks worked pretty well, although I didn't find them to be anything incredibly special and I can't imagine that I would ever pay the retail price for these! It did feel like a nice treat to receive a whole set and since each tube can be used a few times, I'll have masks on hand for when my skin needs a pick me up!

The first mask I tried was the Supernova Firming Facial Mask which is supposed to diminish fine lines and wrinkles. This was a peel-off mask that had glitter and sparkles throughout. I was a bit afraid to see how it would work after a recent painful experience with a similar mask in another box but luckily this one peeled off much more easily! It left my skin feeling smooth!

The next mask I tried was the Intense Moisture Overnight Facial Mask infused with cucumber that is more like a lotion that you leave on overnight. This one had a bit of a sweet smell to it that was not too overwhelming and I woke up to hydrated, smooth skin. It was recommended that this be rinsed off in the morning.

This Crystal Carbonated Facial Mask was a fun one! I spread it on my face and waited for the mask to oxygenize which created little frothy bubbles on my skin. It tickled a bit when they would pop, but it left my face feeling clean and smooth. This mask was our largest tube at 20 g while the others were all half that size at 10 g.

This Brilliant Skin Peel-off Facial Mask was really pretty going on! It was a shimmery pearl color and it was thicker than I expected. After spreading it on my face it got really tight and I was supposed to wait for it to turn a vivid white, but it never quite did. My skin did feel super smooth afterward, although I'm not sure how bright it was!

The last mask in the set was this Purifying Charcoal Facial Mask which I haven't tried yet, but it is supposed to minimize pores and purify your face!

Kanio Bracelet in Rain- Retail Value $24.00

We have received these Kanio bracelets before in the February 2019 box and the September 2018 boxes although in different colors. I like the style of these bracelets, but since I have two others, I wasn't too excited about receiving a third, especially from the same subscription. Even though September's was a different blue, it was still a very similar bracelet to this one. That being said, I do love the sentiment behind the Fluorite stone beads which are said to "promote spiritual and psychic wholeness, as well as bring protection and inner peace by reducing negative energies."

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Lace Up Navy Dress - Listed Value $50.00

This dress did not feel worth $50.00 to me with it's casual, lightweight cotton material. It also had a small tear up near one of the shoulders which doesn't scream high-quality to me. While I didn't reach out to customer service in this instance, if this were to happen to a subscriber they would send out a new one or let subscribers pick something else of equal value to replace it! This dress is really comfortable, although a bit short for me, and it feels like more of a beach cover up to me with the casual style of the material and the lace up front. This item was another miss for me, unfortunately!

Pink Quilted Nylon Cosmetic Case by T-Shirt & Jeans - Listed Value $1o.00

This quilted makeup bag reminds me of a puffy snowsuit that I had as a young child! The quilted nylon feels very '80s to me, especially this shade of pink! I think because of the nostalgia, I kind of dig this bag. It's soft, spacious and it sits up on its own making it a great toiletry or makeup case. Also, it is entirely composed of fabric that can easily be thrown into the wash for cleaning when you need it. I also think this is appropriately priced!

Verdict: This month's My Fashion Crate was about 50/50 for me. I really liked the tassel charger, makeup bag, and the mask set was a nice treat, but the clothing items were huge misses and the bracelet didn't feel like a unique or special item since they have sent one twice before. While I could discount that as just being due to my receiving this subscription for such a long time, that is still three of these bracelets that have been sent in under a year.

The total value for the Premium box comes to $180.95 this month, which is great for a $55.90 ($49.95 + $5.95 shipping) box, even if a few of the prices felt inflated. As for the Essential box, the value is $121.00, which is still great for a $40.95 ($35 + $5.95 shipping) box. For the $14.95 extra paid for the Premium box, I received the dress and cosmetic case (valued at $59.95).
