GeekGear World of Wizardry June 2019 Review

GeekGear World of Wizardry June 2019 - Acceptance Letter 1 GeekGear World of Wizardry June 2019 - Acceptance Letter 2

Every month, I get an acceptance letter that shows all the items in my box. I like to open these to make sure everything that is supposed to be in the box is in the box, but try not to read too much to keep everything a surprise.

Solemnly T-Shirt

Every month, I anticipate a new T-shirt and some art. This month’s shirt is probably my favorite one I have received since I started subscribing in January. The shirt features (who I think is) Hedwig with her wings over the houses. It also says my absolute favorite quote from the book: (which I also have tattooed, because why not?!) "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." The shirt also has Harry’s Patronus at the very top of the shirt. My daughter Bella loves this shirt as much as I do!

GeekGear World of Wizardry June 2019 - Death Eater Print

Death Eater Print

This art print in this month’s box is really pretty and kind of wicked. I love the blues and the pinks and the different swirls and designs on the Death Eater. This will make a great inclusion on my Harry Potter art wall.

Vetus Lignum Wand

I am so excited I have been getting wands lately. While they have no practical use, they are really original and, as a HP fan, really neat to have. The wand I received this month includes a little insert that specifies the length, wood type and core of the wand. This month’s wand is a Vetus Lignum Wand and is 13 ½ inches long, with a dittany core and is made of acacia wood. It looks and feels like its an older wand and appears to have been in some battles. It resembles a thick twig but is heavy enough that a wizard (or witch!) would know it is pretty powerful.

Feather House Bookmark

This next item is my favorite item this month. I have never seen a bookmark like this one. The feather has a hook to hook onto pages and has charms that dangle. The charms are definitely geared towards the Gryffindor house: the golden snitch, Hedwig, a thunderbolt and Hogwarts castle were the charms on my bookmark. It lays flat in my Harry Potter book and saves my spot perfectly and looks so beautiful against my HP book, I may add.

Love Potion Glass Bottle

GeekGear Wizardry promised subscribers back in January that they would be including more personalized, handcrafted items for Harry Potter fans. This item reflects that change. Back in April, I got a vile of Liquid Luck that was similar to this with glitter. This month, it’s a Love Potion bottle that is also filled with glitter. While I love the idea of receiving my own love potion, a glass vile filled with glitter just doesn’t bring the potion to life for me. I am a realistic muggle; I know that they just can’t send me a love potion via USPS. However, I am just not feeling the love for the glitter. I think that if I would have received just the glass bottle without glitter, I would have appreciated it more. I know that I can take the glitter out, but its glitter and it will get everywhere and I don’t want to mess it up.

Fawkes Art Print by Kevin Cantwell

Ah… I know I already claimed my favorite item in this box but this art is amazing! I love every part of it; the background, Fawke’s posture and just the way he looks. Its beautiful, colorful and realistic and is so fantastic. I also do want to note that Fawkes is one of my favorite animal characters.

Phoenix Tears Tea

GeekGear also sends a new tea every month. This month’s tea is Phoenix Tears. It is a white tea with peach and apple pieces, grapes and sunflower petals. The teas always smell amazing and this one is no different. When I made it, I could taste the fruit blend. It was soft and light and offered just enough flavor for a nice tea.

Scratch Off Card

Lately, this has been a new thing in my monthly boxes. I have never won but this month we got 10% off our next renewal! It is pretty easy to obtain our prize: we just send an email at the bottom of the card.

Verdict: GeekGear Wizardry Box is one of my favorite boxes. The little trinkets are everything a fan would love, down to every detail. I do think that this box should be reserved for true fans of the books and movies though, otherwise it will seem like a collection of unnecessary items and a ton of artwork. For me, though, I treasure every item and enjoy every moment opening the box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will get the August box.

I thought the Love Potion was a little lame, too; they could have at least put it in a liquid and added something else like crystals, maybe. Now that you mentioned them, I want to see your tattoo and your art wall! This is absolutely my favorite HP subscription because I love getting unique items that I know another average fan won’t have.

Really cool box! The glitter in a bottle is a bit childish when I was in New Orleans I grabbed a love potion for a friend and it was oil with rose petals and a couple of aphrodisiac additions which was really cool and not too expensive. They could have done something along those lines and it works great for body oil or a dab of scent.
