My Review of Summer Tops & Wide-Leg Jeans from My Latest Style Plan
When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a quick style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). Then, you can pick whether you’d like a monthly or a bi-monthly plan and set your budget for each box (under $150 or $150+).
I honestly get really excited when Frank And Oak‘s monthly preview email appears in my inbox. Once it arrives, you have a few days to scope out what Frank And Oak has picked for you and make changes if you’d like. Each month, Frank And Oak curates about 12 products for you, and tags three that will make it into your box. But you can deselect those items and pick new ones from the pieces on the page. I usually end up swapping at least one of Frank And Oak’s picks for something I pick myself. You can also adjust sizes as needed, though the size they set for me usually works just fine.
One last cool feature I wanted to point out. Before you get the email about previewing your box, you’ll get an email letting you know that your box is being prepared. I hadn’t really opened those emails, since I didn’t think they signaled any action I had to take. But check this out! In that email, there’s a link you can use to request at least three types of items. If you’re shopping for shirts, jeans, even hats or accessories, you can note that here. Frank And Oak will then do their best to include those kinds of pieces in your Style Plan options.
Nina Wide Leg Jean in Light Indigo, Size 30 – Retail Value $89.50, Member Price $84.50
At the time of writing this review, the light indigo version of these jeans are sold out, but there’s a rich blue color that’s still available (and that I linked above). I’ve gotten this style of jeans before. The darker pair I’d tried were a little stiff, so the fit was a bit less forgiving. I’d noticed that lighter wash styles I’d gotten from Frank And Oak were generally a little softer, so I was eager to see if that was the case with these jeans. Luckily, I think I was at least a bit right, haha. While they weren’t luxuriously soft, the fabric did seem to have a bit more give than the darker blue pair. And the more I wear them, the more relaxed and comfortable they’ve become. I love the cut, especially on hot weather days. The raw hems are a nice, carefree touch, too—summery and a little retro.
Recycled Poly Racer Tank Top in Orange, Size Large – Retail Value $34.50
This is another look that I’ve gotten versions of in the past. I love, love, love this color, though. I’ve been trying to wear red again—for years, I was kind of anti-red on me, but shades like this one can look really cute on me. The recycled polyester fabric of this top is really flattering. The cut is fitted, but because of the weight of the fabric, I feel like it looks rather polished. The subtle ribbed texture is nice, too. Frank And Oak calls this cut a “Racer Tank,” but the back isn’t quite as narrow as what I’d traditionally expect from a racerback tank. I like the high-necked style, though—I feel like it’s super flattering on my broader back and shoulders.
The only bummer of this top is that there wasn’t any discount associated with it—the retail value was the same price I paid. That’s not typical in my experience, but I liked the top so much that I figured I’d spare the extra few dollars.
The Blouse in Orange, Size M – Retail Value $69.50, Member Price $64.50
Same color, different shirt! I’m a big fan of this top. It’s roomy, flowy, and has a cut that’s boxy but not in an outdated nor overly trendy way. It’s as cute with jeans as it is with office-ready skirts, and I love that the rare summer breeze can work its way through the 100% rayon top as I walk to get coffee or groceries. It’s chic, but not sweaty. I’m a big fan of all-purpose pieces like this one.
Verdict: Frank And Oak is one of my fave subscriptions. The clothes are my style. Also, I really like the sustainable practices Frank And Oak uses to make a lot of its products. The items can get pricey, though, so be aware that you’ll pay for the nicer quality. (I’ll also be watching to make sure all of the pieces I pick do include a member discount.) I’m really excited about how versatile these summery pieces are. I feel like if I style them right, they’ll see me well into fall and winter, too!
To Wrap Up:
Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Each Frank And Oak Style Plan box is customized based on your preferences, so what you get will likely be different than what I did. Follow the product links above to see if these specific items are still available individually, and sign up for your own Style Plan to discover even more great looks!
Value Breakdown: The retail price for the three items I received this month is $193.50, but the Style Plan price is $183.50. (So, a savings of $10.00.) If I decide to return all the items, I will pay the $25 styling fee and will be refunded the remaining amount, but I can keep any one item at the discounted price and no styling fee will be charged.
