Bullymake Box Subscription Review + Coupon – August 2019

Bullymake Box is a monthly subscription box for power chewers. You all have heard about (and seen) some of Nyx’s exploits with plush toys from dog subscription boxes so when I heard about this one, I had to sign up immediately. Nyx is definitely a power chewer! You pick your dog’s weight in 10-pound increments so this is a box for an 80-pound dog (Nyx weighs about 87 right now).

The Cost: $39 a month + free US shipping. Save with 3, 6, and 12 month subscriptions.

The Products: Toys and treats specifically tailored for heavy chewing dogs (no plushes). You can enter specific allergy information for your dog on the checkout screen. You can also choose to receive a “toys only” box as I did because of Nyx’s dietary issues. You can also now customize the types of toys you receive–see more about how to do so below.

Ships to: The USA (for free!) and Canada (for $8)

Good to know: if you want a toys-only box, you should select that during sign-up. Otherwise you will get the default box, which does include some treats. Now you can also go into your account and change your preferences regarding treats, toy type, etc.

Bullymake Box August 2019 Review

There was a back-to-school theme this month:

Not all boxes are the same due to the fact that you can choose your dog’s size in 10 pound increments, choose a toys-only box, and now choose the types of toys, and the newer information cards reflect that.

Nylon Pencil Chew

Since it is August, this month has a back-to-school theme, and the first themed item is this pencil chew. Nyx lives for this box each month and the main reason why is these nylon chews. They are custom for Bullymake Box. No links for now because these particular items aren’t up in their store (they may be in a week or two). I found this to keep Nyx interested for a long time and she hasn’t damaged it much yet. I believe this is flavored or scented because I photographed it right out of a hot (black) mailbox in the Atlanta summer sun and it had a pleasant, non-chemical smell that I couldn’t quite place.

Rope Toy

Nyx also likes rope toys. These are generally not available in the Bullymake shop, but they are Bullymake-branded. They have about average durability for rope toys. One of the nice things about this box, though, is that you can fully customize it so if you don’t want ropes, you won’t get them. (This box is meant for power chewers but that can mean different things with different dogs.) We usually get one rope per month with my current customization selections and that’s about right for Nyx.

Nylon Wishbone Chew

This looks familiar; we may have received one in the past. But Nyx doesn’t care – it’s new and exciting to her. She likes being able to grip one end and chew the other end. If you are wondering why there are so many nylon chews, we have it set up that way. After receiving the box for a few months, I could tell what Nyx liked best, so when customization became available, I opted for extra nylon chews. You can also get rubber (KONG-style but with different shapes) toys and/or treats if you’d prefer those instead. Anyway, this has been a hit so far.

Ruler Nylon Chew

Here is another back-to-school themed item. You can see some photos of Nyx chewing on it below. When Nyx was a puppy, she used to steal office supplies (once she ran with scissors!) so I find it kind of funny to give her toys shaped like office (or school) supplies. I think because of the shape of this, with a narrow edge, it will likely be useful for various smaller dogs (maybe not toy breeds) as well as larger dogs (since it’s too big to fit fully into Nyx’s mouth).

Here are some pictures of Nyx with the ruler toy. (You get this one in photos because it shows up more in the pictures – she could fit a lot of the pencil in her mouth and the wishbone is kind of a drab, neutral color.) She had a lot of fun with this but it’s in good enough shape that she’ll be able to play with it a few more times.

Verdict: I couldn’t calculate a total value for the August Bullymake Box because all of the toys were Bullymake exclusives but not available in their shop. However, I’d say this was a typical month for this subscription for us. This is one of Nyx’s favorite boxes to receive each month and I like the customization – some people and dogs might find three nylon toys boring, but this is literally Nyx’s favorite type of toy, ever, and getting three of them means three times the entertainment (and also they last a long time). But if nylon toys aren’t your dog’s thing, other options are available. I’m not sure which toy was Nyx’s favorite as she was pretty enthusiastic about all of them.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first shipment would be September’s. You can sometimes buy some of the exclusive toys at the Bullymake Shop if something catches your eye (this month’s toys may take a few weeks to get put into the shop). Also, please note there are some box variations here so you may not always receive the same box as Nyx gets, even if you choose the same profile values when you sign up.

Value Breakdown: At $39 for the box, you are paying an average of $9.75 per item.
