Bomibag July 2019 Review

There was no information card included in the package. You used to be able to find them on the BomiBox site but this month’s bag was not listed.

Bomibag Subscription Box July 2019 - The Bunny Bag Front

The bunny bag was a respectable size this month and I managed to not cut its ears off while opening the package (which is something I have done in the past).

Bomibag Subscription Box July 2019 - Jumiso Cream Top

Jumiso Have a Good Cream with Snail and Centella, 15g – Estimated Value $10.17 (Buy 50g for $33.90; found here for $13.56)

This is supposed to be a cruelty-free brand so I was surprised to see snail as an ingredient, but it may be expressed by genetically-modified bacteria or something along those lines. Snail secretion filtrate, as K-beauty enthusiasts know, is moisturizing. And centella is supposed to help with hyperpigmentation (not a problem I really have at the moment) and blemishes (my face has been somewhat broken out, though). This absorbed into my skin without leaving a lot of residue and I do think it was somewhat calming in addition to being moisturizing, and also it did not irritate my skin.

Bomibag Subscription Box July 2019 - Skin Whitening Comma Mask Top

I’m Sorry for My Skin Whitening Comma Mask – Retail Value $2.20

I very nearly didn’t have any idea what this was supposed to be called (how would I know the comma character on the front was part of the name?!) but it was there in tiny print on the back, and the packaging matched what I found online. This one has glutathione and niacinamide for brightening. This one had a lot of serum but it was pretty calming to use on a weekend night. I feel like I’d have to use it for awhile before being able to say how well it worked for brightening.

Bomibag Subscription Box July 2019 - Cosrx Clear Kit Top

COSRX One Step Original Clear Kit – Retail Value $6

I liked this a lot. The cleanser smelled strongly of tea tree oil but that is really good for breakouts. There were two toner pads and a sheet mask. It addresses some skin concerns I have currently so I was happy to try it out. The only thing is, I feel like this would be wonderful as a daily use system, but $6 is a lot to pay every day. I would totally be interested in this also as three separate products: cleanser in a tube, toner pads in a jar, and mask as either separate masks, or to minimize packaging waste, some of those small discs that expand in serum to become sheet masks.

Bomibag Subscription Box July 2019 - Skin SPF 50+ Sun Cream Top

I’m Sorry for My Skin SPF 50+ Daily Calming Sun Cream, 40 mL – Retail Value $24.20 (found here for $3.99)

I can’t really account for the difference in retail price and discounted price. Perhaps it is on clearance? I don’t know. Anyway, I am hyper-sensitive about new sunscreens because some of them give me a skin reaction. So I used this on my arms, which is what I always do first with new sunscreens. It takes a week or two of using a product for me to see negative results (if they are going to happen, which is not a given) but so far, so good. And this is a great item for summer, too!

Bomibag Subscription Box July 2019 - Squeeze Mask Lime Top

innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask Lime – Retail Value $2 (found here for $1)

This did actually smell like lime at first. This has a ton of antioxidants from lime, green tea, tangerine, and a few others, so it is good for summer – wear it at night after a long day in the sun (not that it makes up for good SPF, of course). This one was absolutely dripping with serum and I’m glad I used it on a weekend when I didn’t have to wear my shirt out of the house.

Bomibag Subscription Box July 2019 - Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Gel Cream Top

Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Gel Cream, 10 mL – Estimated Value $5 (Buy the full size for $25; found here for $20)

This one is heavy on the derivatives of sodium hyaluronate (so it is not vegan). It is moisturizing, though, from all the hyaluronate (which is a carbohydrate polymer that holds water close to the surface of the skin). I think it is meant for oily or combination skin as it is said to control excess oil (I put makeup on after it and it did not interfere but I’m not sure I’d recognize excess oil after also using a mattifying primer). I personally love gel-textured moisturizers for morning, so that’s when I used this.

Verdict: I calculated a total value of $65.16 for the July Bomibag. That’s the best value I’ve seen for this subscription. Bomibag is really stepping up their curation lately. I was happy to receive a whole lot of products I’ve never seen before, and everything was useful to me in some way. The items seemed particularly suited for summer, too, as the moisturizers were lightweight, there was SPF, etc.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you subscribe today? No, your first shipment would probably be August’s.

Value Breakdown: At $19.99 for this subscription, you’re paying about the following per item:

  • Jumiso cream $3.12
  • Comma mask $0.67
  • COSRX mask kit $1.84
  • Lime mask $0.61
  • Sun cream $7.42
  • Real Barrier cream $6.32

If you go on the Bomibox website and click “Past Boxes” on the top, all the information for the products are listed from each box that we receive. Also, the COSRX mask system we got is three of their products put together in a skin routine, so full size products are available (you can find them on the ULTA website).

Thanks, I found the product list. I’ll try to remember that next month. (I used to just change the month in the URL for the old bag and that worked to see the new month’s products for a long time, but they must’ve changed the format of the URL.)
