Bluum Box June 2019 Review

This Bluum box was sent for my son, Parker, who is 3 years old. So I am not quite sure what is going on with Bluum lately. This is my June box that I am just now receiving in August. My May box was way late as well (arriving at the end of June) and they sent it in a plain brown box since they had low stock of their red boxes. This month it was even stranger to receive a BabyGuyBox box with my Bluum goodies inside. Luckily I knew what I was receiving from my sneak peek email and also the signature Bluum tissue paper my items came wrapped in! Is anyone else having any issues with this sub?

Eeboo Adirondack Picture Frame - Retail Value $4.99

The first item in our box was this picture frame that holds a 4X6 photo and is made from recycled board. It has a protective plastic cover over the photo portion of the frame and can be hung vertically or horizontally. It also features little tabs that you can poke out if you'd like to use it as a standing photo frame instead. This isn't really a frame I would display in my house, but it came with a gift envelope (which I must have overlooked and of course, misplaced - sorry!) and I like the idea of sending this to someone, however, if I were going to gift a frame to someone, I would probably opt for a nicer one that is a bit more substantial. So while it was pretty with it's shiny, detailed design, this item was kind of a miss for me overall.

Eeboo Trucks and a Bus Matching Game – Retail Value $15.99

This next item is also from Eeboo and is a fun and unique memory matching game. It features nice sized cards shaped like trucks and buses making them easy to grasp and flip as you play. This is a fun twist on the traditional Memory game and it definitely appealed to both myself and the kids.

There are twelve different pairs of vehicles with a fun plaid-type pattern on the back. The vehicles feature different colors with fairly detailed pictures and include ice cream trucks, school buses, fire trucks and more!

Hohner Kids Easy Grip Maracas - Retail Value $11.38

I actually received a set of these maracas in a Bluum box for my daughter when she was much younger and they are a toy that has held up over the years to many kids playing with them. They have been shaken, dropped, banged, and slammed and still look like new, so I was happy to see a bright yellow set of these that we can donate or gift since I know the quality is good! They are a great size for kids, lightweight, and of course BPA free.

Hohner Kids Toddler Tambourine - Retail Value $11.99

This tambourine is also from Hohner so I expect that the quality is similar to the maracas. This is the perfect size for a toddler or young kid and I love that it has clear plastic over the metal pieces. Visually, it looks really cool and it's nice that you can see them move, and safety-wise, I like that they are contained and the metal isn't protruding from the sides. It's a fun toy and not so loud that it makes me want to pull my hair out like some other instruments we've had over the years!

Verdict: Despite the lateness and confusion over the box it came shipped in, I still consider this a pretty decent Bluum box. The Hohner instruments are both quality toys and while I'm not always thrilled to receive toys that make noise, I can at least appreciate that they are fun and well-made, and make the kids happy. The matching game was definitely my favorite item this month and I felt that it was a unique item we will get a lot of use out of for years to come. The only item that was a bit lackluster for me was the picture frame, although it was nicely made. The total retail value of the items we received this month came to $44.35 which is pretty good for a $34 (plus free shipping) box!

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? All orders are processed the first of every month and shipped out on the 9th. If you order today, you will start receiving a box for next month.

Value Breakdown: At $34 for this box, here is what you are paying approximately for each item:

  • Frame: $3.83
  • Game: $12.26
  • Maracas: $8.72
  • Tambourine: $9.19

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I can’t believe this box is still in business. Pricing is ridiculous and customer service issues seem to still be an issue (I haven’t subbed in at least 4 years). It used to be a great box when they first started, but as time went on they went downhill.

I have been having with them as well! I signed up back in May and didn’t receive my first box until July. Then I just received another which I have no idea which month it is for.

That’s frustrating! I’m hoping they fix whatever is going on soon!
