Okay, so it’s been 3 years since I have gotten a Birchbox. In ‘16, I was subscribed for 6 months. Back then, my 1st box was awesome! After that, not so much. The samples became tinier and tinier and simply were not matching my profile. Plus, I was getting duplicate type products over and over and sometimes two of the same type of product in one box. After reviewing and even writing in and asking,”Please, no more sunscreen. One last month, two this month…” Birchbox response,”No problem! We will try not to send you sunscreen!” Next month, two more sunscreens. That is also when the took away their rewards points program. After that, I cashed in my rewards points and canceled.
With this deal which is basically a bogo , subscribe and get the September box plus a free random past box. Once I went online, I could have chosen my 1st box for $1 instead. I have to admit that one of my favorite things about Birchbox is the box. Lol! So, this plain one for September is a bummer. I’m glad I got the bogo deal because at least the extra box is cute. I’m not sure when it’s from but the bottom is a light green with different colors of circles cut and lined up, the top is a light pink background with a similar design but more color, Birchbox written in white inside a gold circle. The card inside: Low Effort High Impact, Kick off your new summer routine with the products below: Ouai wave spray-nice Size,Manna Kadar Glo Illuminator-full size, MAC Cosmetics False Lash mascara-tiny, Coola spf 50 sport sunscreen in fresh mango-10ml and I actually got this exact same item from Birchbox in July, 2016… 😂😂🤷‍♀️, Clarins UV plus anti-pollution sunscreen spf 50-SO TEENY TINY! It’s actually laughable! What are the odds that this would be my extra box? Lol! Yay! Two sunscreens! The clarins one is definitely a joke. It says there’s 3ml in there but I don’t think so. I cut it open and there is not 3 mls in there, it’s just below 2 mls and not enough for one face application. Had I paid $15 + tax for this box… The only items I will use is the box and the Coola.
On to my actual September box: Bioderma sensibio light soothing cream- 5ml, and there is not 5ml worth of product in this tube, there’s 3ml, enough for one use, maybe. Davines MOMO moisturizing shampoo 75ml bottle and conditioner 12ml foil packet- (I highly suggest clicking yes on receiving foil packets as extras) I’m quite happy with these, just wish there were a bottle of both. Eyeko brow liner, medium- this is a marker style brow product. It’s like their eyeliner. It’s a mini size but I’m loving it! I am losing my hair and eyebrows. This is supposed to be water resistant. I hope so! I am able to actually draw some hair on! Yay!!! MAC Cosmetics lipglass in Love Child: This weighs .08 ml, full size is .10 ml. This is basically a full size product in a mini package. This is a plum with copper shimmer and it’s waterproof! I’m just not into lip color anymore.Marcelle micellar water 50ml: nice size! Nothing new here. Not my thing but my teenager will love it! R+Co rodeo star thickening style foam: Come on… why do companies change the names of what products are. It’s a volumizing hair styling mousse. I simply don’t like hair mousse anymore and I am not a fan of this brand. I don’t like their fragrance and the products I have tried just don’t work for me. I did get the sheet of stickers and the makeup bag.
All in all, I think I got my monies worth with the bogo deal. However, I can’t justify $15 + tax for this subscription.

I did the BOGO and then canceled after the boxes came. Tiny samples for $15 definitely not worth it. However I liked my extra box better than my august box!

Well, it’s been about 3 years since I’ve had anything to do with Birchbox. But, with Allure sucking and this buy one get one, I’m suckered in for this one. Idk if I will stick around or not. 🤷‍♀️

It’s great that companies offer incentives to start new subscriptions. That’s how many of my subscriptions started. However, when a company has a new offer every couple weeks, like Birchbox and Emma & Chloe, I start to think that maybe they are desperate for new subscribers. Does anyone else see it that way?

Yep…I see it the same way! Birchbox must be desperate now that they’re charging $15 for a box of tiny samples. Emma and Chloe has beautifully designed jewelry pieces, but their quality doesn’t stand the test of time.

$15 for their tiny samples is ridiculous!
