Switch 2 Pure July 2019 Review

Switch 2 Pure Subscription Box

Switch 2 Pure is a subscription that delivers clean skincare, wellness, and beauty products each month to help you discover your next favorite product. At $57.00 per box, this subscription is no frills and doesn't use your money on fancy packaging and info cards. They keep it simple and just send tried-and-true products from their huge inventory that is also shoppable. While it's not the most cohesive beauty subscription, S2P always introduces me to a plethora of new brands each month.

Switch 2 Pure July 2019 Review

Switch 2 Pure doesn't include a detailed list of the contents each month but includes this overall info card.

Innersense Color Awakening Hairbath and Color Radiance Daily Conditioner - Sample Packs

These look to be samples of shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair. I stopped coloring my hair a couple of years ago to try and stop any further damage, but I'm sure these would probably work on just about anyone. I'll probably save them to take on a trip so I don't have to pack larger bottles.

OY-L Body Butter in Orange Rose - Sample

Hmmm- this has no branding whatsoever, just the scent: orange rose. This is clearly just a sample tossed in, but it's a little irritating that I'm left clueless as to what I'm about to use. Doing a search on the Switch 2 Pure site, my guess is that it's the OY-L Body Butter due to the consistency. It's whipped and rich, but also quite greasy. I received the lavender version of this back in my April box which is my preferred scent, so this sample is kinda meh.

Orgaid Anti-Aging Moisturizing Organic Sheet Mask - Retail Value $6.00 (currently out of stock)

Back in the August S2P box, I got a different Orgaid mask, but this one is just as nice, quality-wise. The mask itself is a really nice fabric, and the serum used on this one doesn't leave my face feeling sticky or weird. This is very much a high-end mask using organic ingredients that don't contain any skin-drying alcohol or artificial fragrances. My skin was dewy and fresh afterward and didn't need much more before starting my makeup routine.

Switch 2 Pure Glow Bar with CBD, 3.5 oz - Retail Value $19.00

While I'm not particularly excited to get another bar of soap from S2P, this one is different than the one they've sent twice before and contains CBD (which is supposed to help prevent clogged pores and breakouts). I used it in the shower this morning and not only does it smell nice (grapefruit, orange, lemongrass) but also felt great on my skin. I'm currently overwhelmed with bar soap at the moment, but I think this one will skip to the front of the queue.

Lily Lolo Natural Lip Gloss in Clear, 10 g - Retail Value $16.00

I know, I know. You've heard me say before that I'm not a fan of lip gloss. I say it a lot. This Lily Lolo gloss came in what they call "clear" although there is an obvious pink tint to it. My lips are quite pink, so it does look sheer on, and the wild thing is that I swear it smells a bit like chocolate. It actually feels really moisturizing and is a lot less sticky than some other glosses, so that's a plus! I'll prob pass this on to a friend though.

Erbaviva Sunscreen SPF 30, 2.5 oz. - Retail Value $23.00

Sunscreen is always appreciated in summer boxes, but boy am I getting a lot of it. This is a new brand to me and is a physical sunscreen made with zinc oxide and organic essentials oils which means it's free of chemicals. It's on the heavier side (which I think physical sunscreens tend to be) and takes a little more rubbing in to dissipate the white creamy color. Once it's on, it has a pleasant scent and protects skin with a 30 SPF. I'll be keeping this one around 'til I'm certain I am safe from the sun come fall.

Verdict: This month's Switch 2 Pure was kinda meh to me. Nothing here was terribly exciting even though it was all nice and all-natural. I have a ton of sunscreen right now and lip gloss is not my thing, so there wasn't much here for me, especially for the hefty $57 price tag. Switch 2 Pure is always a little hit or miss in my opinion and this month was a miss with a value of just $64.00.

Can we please stop saying things are chemical free? There is no such thing…sorry, that’s one of my major pet peeves! And really, organic doesn’t necessarily mean safer or healthier. Guess I’m not the target audience for this box 😉

I liked the brands featured in this month’s box, but for $57, I can’t help but compare this box to Organic Bunny or Laurel & Reed. Organic Bunny will always be one of my most favorite green beauty boxes due to its curation and I feel it’s probably the best “discovery” green beauty box out there (I think this month’s box was one of my all time favorites), and while I still can’t bring myself to pay full price for Laurel & Reed, I feel their curation and unboxing experience as a whole is really great too. Despite the cost:value being there, it still feels like something’s missing with the Switch 2 Pure box, but I can never put my finger on it.

Wow, $57 is really high for what came in this box! Especially considering the soap was their own brand. I want to try a new natural beauty box, but this one doesn’t seem worth it…

Hm, looking at the reviews for the past 5 months or so, it seems to have dropped in value each month. Value was much higher in April and May….
