Stitch Fix Kids July 2019 Review

In our Stitch Fix Kids box, there were several bright and colorful information sheets, a set of cute stickers, and some information about their box challenge. I love that they encourage recycling of your box in such a fun way.

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $220, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $145.00. That's a savings of $75 on this box!

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a note from her stylist, Isabel. Her stylist usually does a great job of listening to my feedback and sending Liv pieces that she thinks she'll love. This month we asked for some budget-friendly tank tops and items for wearing at the beach!

Cotton On Adrienne Two Piece Swimsuit, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $24.00

Since last month's swimsuit was too big on Liv, her stylist made sure to send one that was a half size smaller for her. This one is definitely not as cute as the other and the fit was very odd on her. The top was almost too short for her torso, but it was very loose and gapped open at the bottom. I think she is just too tall and skinny for this suit!

Native Jefferson Holey Moley Sneakers, Size 13 - Retail Value $40, Cost to Keep $46.00

I wasn't surprised to see this pair of shoes in her Fix since they seem to be making the rounds lately, but I was surprised at the color choice and even more surprised when my daughter said she loved them! She is strictly a pink and purple girl these days but she loved these and really wanted to keep them. I liked them a lot, too, but if you know me, I don't like to spend this much on shoes for her because she just outgrows them so quickly! I was also disappointed to see that these shoes only retail for $40 and while I know they will price match, it still seems a bit deceptive to charge more to keep them. They were really nice and lightweight and I loved that they can be cleaned so easily.

Here are the shoes on her. They would be perfect beach shoes, but we weren't really looking for a new pair at the moment.

Chenault Girl Tabatha Knit Racerback Dress, Size 6X - Cost to Keep $26.00

How beautiful is this dress? I love the colors and pattern, the fun ruffle detail around the neckline, and the detail on the hem. It's hard to see here but the hemline is a few different lengths creating a lot of volume and making it perfect for twirling in. It is also soft and has the cutest racerback detail. You can tell she was feeling pretty in this one!

RUMI + RYDER Shandley Cross-Back Swing Dress, Size S - Cost to Keep $24.00

While I loved the other dress, this is the one that she fell in love with. It is so basic, especially compared to the other dress, but she likes that it's pink. I thought it was fine, but for almost the same price as the other dress, it felt a bit boring! The criss-cross in the back is cute and the fact that it has pockets is fun, but it wasn't as flattering as the other dress, either. It is a good play dress for her though and it is soft and lightweight.

Flapdoodles Montoya 2-Pack French Terry Shorts, Size S - Cost to Keep $20.00

This two pack of shorts was cute and they fit her really well. They have an elastic waistband and were just the right length. They felt like quality shorts and I like that it comes with two pairs, one being plain to go with anything and one being patterned for a little more fun!

RUMI + RYDER The Cap Sleeve Tee, Size S - Cost to Keep $16.00

This top was cute and fun with the "squeeze the day" phrase. The lemon is made up of iridescent sequins which are really fun and a great contrast to the plain navy and white stripes. Here she has it paired with the unicorn shorts. The fit was great and she liked this top a lot.

Flapdoodles Montoya 2-Pack French Terry Shorts, Size S - Cost to Keep $20.00

This is the other set of shorts that we received. These felt like perfect summer shorts with their bright colors and the fun fruit pattern! They feel and fit just like the other pair she received, but I think these were the clear winner between the two sets.

RUMI + RYDER The Cap Sleeve Tee, Size S - Cost to Keep $14.00

This tee was cute with the hints of color and the fun beach scene. There are so many little details to take in like the lemonade and the treat for the dog. So cute and perfect for pairing with her new shorts.

RUMI + RYDER The Racer Back Tank, Size S - Cost to Keep $14.00

This racerback tank top with a mermaid and pink flowers on it was easily a favorite for Liv. She loved it and so did I but it was a bit big on her in the armpits. Since it is 100% cotton I threw it in the washer and dryer and I think that helped just a bit! She has it paired with the gray shorts from above.

RUMI + RYDER The Ruched Tank, Size S - Cost to Keep $16.00

This shirt was very plain and soft and the material was just a bit dressier than the other tops we received. This is a great basic staple piece and I liked the navy color with just a bit of ruching on the sides for a cute detail. She paired these with the fruit shorts from above.

The Verdict: This was another great Fix for Liv from Stitch Fix Kids and her stylist, Isabel. It was tempting to keep everything because Liv liked each item a lot and the pieces were all very nice (with the exception of the ill-fitting swimsuit), but ultimately, it just felt like too many items! Especially with four pairs of shorts. It's a shame because had we received five items like the adult model, it would have been a no-brainer to keep the items for the discount. Overall, we found some great pieces that are perfect for her to wear while we are at the beach so I was happy. It's a convenient service and Liv and I look forward to checking out the items she receives in her Fixes!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what we got, but you will probably get something that fits your child's style and size even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $220. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $145. That’s a discount of around 34% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

She is rocking it haha, is there no picture of her in the bathing suit? I does seem from the pictures a little old for her.

Haha she is! And no pictures of her in the bathing suit since the fit was so off. I agree, it didn’t feel quite right for her age!

If you purchase one item for $20, then you don’t pay anything else because it’s covered by the $20 styling fee you already paid?
