Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 Review

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - Info

Here is the info sheet for the box.

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - Samantha

On the back is a note that my pouch was prepared by Samantha, along with an explanation for a typo on the info sheet.

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - Nature Republic Aloe Mist

Nature Republic Aloe Mist, Full-Size! Retail Value $7.90 (currently sold out)

This is a bold statement Cotton, but this is actually the best face mist I have ever used that retails for under $10. The nozzle gives out a very fine mist that feels like my face is being gently hugged by a cloud, and it was instantly soothing to my skin. I enjoyed using it so much that I layered it underneath each step of my morning routine just to add moisture and enjoy the experience, and while it isn’t as thick as what you would think of for a gel the texture is slightly thicker than a regular mist.

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - Tony Moly PikyBiky Art Pop Enamel Tint in 04 Catch It 1 Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - Tony Moly PikyBiky Art Pop Enamel Tint in 04 Catch It 2

Tony Moly PikyBiky Art Pop Enamel Tint in 04 Catch It, Full-Size! Retail Value $7.50

This lip tint took some playing around for me to experience its true potential- when you first apply it, it almost looks as if it could be a full-coverage lip cream, but it smears easily and can go on splotchy. My way of using it is to apply a thick layer, let it sit for a few minutes, and then dab it off gently until no more comes off. I am left with that “I just ate a cherry popsicle” lip stain that will last for hours!

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - Selfie

Here I am in the law library taking a selfie break while studying for the bar exam. This was taken a few hours after applying, and I like the natural look. I would make sure to exfoliate your lips before wearing, though, because this can get stuck on chapped lips and make them more noticeable.

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - Serum

Yedam Yunbit Placenta Serum – Estimated Value $20?

Yedam Yunbit is a brand I can never find online, but I have enjoyed all of the products I have tried from the brand. Placenta may sound scary, but in skin care, it is derived from plants and is packed with amino acids, peptides, and can help with skin oxygenation. I am a fan of layering serums, and this one layered well and added nourishment to my skin. Placenta is supposed to be good for healing irritation, and I found it to be soothing to my skin. If this looks familiar, that is because it came in the Sooni Pouch March Box (it’s never come in the mini before, though!). Since I couldn’t find the value online, I made a conservative estimated based on my K-beauty knowledge and other K-beauty serums I have tried in the past (this very well could be worth more, though I doubt it would be worth less).

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - It’s Skin Collagen Nutrition Toner

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - It’s Skin Collagen Nutrition Emulsion

It’s Skin Collagen Nutrition Emulsion, 5 mL – Estimated Value $0.50 (buy the full-size version for $15)

Emulsions are essentially ultra-lightweight moisturizers that you can apply before a cream moisturizer or as your last step, depending on if it is morning or evening and your skin type. I liked using this as a hydrating layer between my serum and regular moisturizer because my skin has been pretty dry lately, but if you have oilier skin try using an emulsion in the mornings instead of a full moisturizer (but make sure to apply sunscreen after!).

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - It’s Skin Pearl Glitter Essential Mask

It’s Skin Pearl Glitter Essential Mask – Estimated Value $3

This mask is made with pearl extract, and while it didn’t leave me glittery (as the name would suggest), it did leave me glowing! It fit my face well, and while it did leave my skin feeling a bit tacky following up with a moisturizer took care of that.

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - Nature Republic Real Comforting Mask in Madecassoside

Nature Republic Real Comforting Mask in Madecassoside – Retail Value $1.90

I just got to try this line of masks from Nature Republic in my May Pink Seoul Mask box, and actually said in that review I hoped to try the madecassoside version of this mask- you can imagine my pleasant surprise when I saw this looking at me when I opened the box. Madecassoside is derived from Centella, which is an ingredient my skin absolutely adores because it is nourishing, soothing, and great for sensitive or irritated skin. Even when my skin isn't being temperamental, I still like reaching for products with Centella because it just makes my face happy. This sheet mask fit well, soothed a few pimples I had along my jawline, and didn't drip down my neck while being moist enough that I could wear this for over twenty minutes. Wins all around, and you can’t really beat the price.

Sooni Mini Pouch June 2019 - 3W Clinic Essential Up Green Tea Mask

3W Clinic Essential Up Green Tea Mask – Retail Value $2.50

I love to drink green tea, and so does my skin- anytime I use a mask with green tea in it my skin is one happy camper. This was no frills, but it hydrated my skin and that’s all I really look for in a basic sheet mask (if a mask is charging $5 or more, that’s when I am going to take out my microscope).

The Verdict: I thought this was a good month for the Sooni Mini Pouch. We received 3 full-size items that are all of either good quality or reputable brand (or both!), and though this box didn’t have as many items as I have seen in past boxes I felt the quality was better. I think Sooni Mini Pouch needs to reconsider their promises though- it is hard to say that this box meets the $60 promised value (my estimates for everything add up to $44.30, but keep in mind to take that with a grain of salt), but I think if there wasn’t a value promise I would be happier with this box, because the curation was good.

Thanks for explaining what an emulsion is and in which steps it could be used in. 🙂 For some reason I always get confused on when to use an emulsion and an ampoule. I *think* an ampoule goes in the serum step(?).

June’s box seemed pretty nice. That mist sounds lovely. 🙂

Anna

Serums, ampoules and boosters are all skin treatments and generally can be used in the same step.

Thanks! I thought I had read ampoules could be used in the serum step, but for some reason everything makes sense when I read it, but then it all leaves my head soon after then I’m confused again. lol Since I don’t use ampoules or emulsions often, I’ll probably forget again once I get around to using them, so I’ll try to remember this review or at the very least google it. lol

My skin loves anything with centella also! It really calms down any eczema flare ups or irritation on my face and seems to have helped my mild acne too. It’s my hg skin ingredient.
