Sephora Favorites: The Ultimate Travel Bag Review

Sephora Travel July 2019 empty bag Sephora Travel July 2019 baag 3

Here is the bag everything came in- I appreciate that it is TSA-friendly and will wipe clean with ease if anything spills.

Sephora Travel July 2019 belif 1 Sephora Travel July 2019 belif 2

belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb, 0.33 oz - Estimated Value $8.88 (Buy the 0.84 oz version for $22)

This is a lightweight moisturizer made with uncommon herbs like Lady's Mantle and oat husk, but it is also made with alcohol denat that can actually dry out your skin over time or cause sensitivity. This may be a decent moisturizer for those with oily skin, but my dry, sensitive skin will pass.

Sephora Travel July 2019 caudalie

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $15 (Buy the 0.66 oz version for $20)

I've tried this moisturizer before and I am a fan- it is lightweight, has a nice gel-cream texture that absorbs well into the skin, and is made with grape water, chamomile, and grapeseed oil. It is still hydrating enough for my dry skin without being heavy, and I think it would work well for those with combo skin too. It does have shea butter in it, so this probably wouldn't work as a day moisturizer for those with oily skin.

Sephora Travel July 2019 dr. jart
Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution - Retail Value $6

I love Dr. Jart+, but I hate how so many of their sheet masks contain alcohol. This mask is no exception, and while I still found it to be hydrating I wouldn't repurchase it knowing I can find alcohol-free sheet masks for less than half the cost.

Sephora Travel July 2019 fresh
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, 0.6 oz - Estimated Value $6 (Buy the 1.7 oz version for $15)

This is a really popular cleanser- it's gentle and safe for sensitive skin, but it still does a good job removing any traces of dirt or makeup. This has ingredients like aloe, cucumber, and rose, and it definitely has a slight cucumber scent.

Sephora Travel July 2019 hum
HUM Nutrition Beauty zzZz, 3 ct - Estimated Value $1 (Buy 30 for $10)

I got a full-sized bottle of these supplements in a box last year, and I have since repurchased these three or four times. I don't take them every night (that can decrease its effectiveness over time), but when I know I'm going to need extra help falling asleep I reach for these melatonin and vitamin b6 supplements. I think this is a great inclusion to a travel bag, especially if you're anything like my sister who can never sleep the first night in a hotel.

Sephora Travel July 2019 laneige 1 Sephora Travel July 2019 laneige 2
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, 0.3 oz - Estimated Value $3.57 (Buy the full-size version for $25)

I love Laneige, but this sleeping mask isn't my favorite product from them. It's not a bad product, but I feel like it is a little lightweight considering it is a sleeping mask. I also have dry skin, so if you have oilier skin you might be more satisfied.

Sephora Travel July 2019 shampoo

Living proof® Perfect hair Day™ Shampoo, 2 oz - Retail Value $12

I was impressed with the size of these- I have definitely had smaller samples of this same shampoo and conditioner set, so I am happy that we got actual travel-sized products instead of samples. I like the Perfect hair Day line from Living proof- I use the triple detox shampoo about once a month, and though my hair can be temperamental I had no issues with this shampoo.

Sephora Travel July 2019 conditioner
Living proof® Perfect hair Day™ Conditioner, 2 oz - Retail Value $12

I always appreciate receiving a matching set, and this conditioner adds moisture to my hair that the shampoo takes away without weighing my hair down.

Sephora Travel July 2019 SC
Sephora Collection All Day Hydrator Hydrate + Glow, 0.33 oz - Estimated Value $3 (Buy the 1 oz version for $9)

Sephora recently revamped their Sephora Collection skincare line, and this moisturizer has a lot of good ingredients like vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C. Unfortunately, it also has coconut oil (capric/caprylic triglyceride), which is an acne trigger for me. If you're not sensitive to coconut oil, this has a great ingredients list for the affordable price tag, and I liked how it absorbed quickly into my skin.

Sephora Travel July 2019 SDJ
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel, 3 oz - Retail Value $10

Thanks to FabFitFun I am sure many of you are discovering just how good this shower cream smells- it has the signature scent of pistachio and salted caramel that many people go nuts over, and I like that this shower gel didn't leave my skin feeling tight while still leaving me clean.

Sephora Travel July 2019 unseen
Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $16

This is one of the most popular sunscreens that Supergoop! offers, but it isn't my favorite. It's a clear gel that leaves no white cast and rubs in with ease, but I have found that it can also cause pilling depending on what other skincare I used that day. This is a good sunscreen people who have trouble committing to applying it every day, but it isn't the one I personally reach for.

Sephora Travel July 2019 volition 1 Sephora Travel July 2019 volition 2
Volition Beauty Apple Cider Vinegar Resurfacing Peel Pads, 3 ct - Retail Value $12

I don't use peel pads often because almost all of them contain alcohol pretty high up on the ingredients- but these bad boys are alcohol-free! The key ingredient here is apple cider vinegar, and the smell is very present while you swipe these across your face. Luckily, the smell fades fast, and my skin feels softer after using with no irritation.

The Verdict: I really liked this kit from the Sephora Favorites lineup- many of the items were true travel-sized products rather than just samples, and honestly the only thing missing is a serum or toner. All of the products are small enough to be okay for a carry-on bag, but I also didn't feel like this was full of small samples. I take the bar exam in a few weeks and will be bringing this bag with me (along with more sheet masks) for my week-long hotel stay, and I appreciate that there is enough product that I don't have to worry about running out. This would also last for multiple weekend-getaways, too, which is something I appreciate. Value-wise, Sephora promised a total value of $107 and by my math, this kit comes up just a tad shy with a total value of $105.45

To Wrap Up :

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this is still available.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $45.95 ($40 + $5.95 shipping) and had a total value of $105.45, which means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • belif: $3.87
  • Caudalie: $6.54
  • Dr. Jart+: $2.61
  • Fresh: $2.61
  • HUM: $0.43
  • Laneige: $1.55
  • Living proof Shampoo: $5.23
  • Living proof Conditioner: $5.23
  • Sephora Collection: $1.31

For the Sephora Hydrator you can try applying it to your neck, elbows/knees, or the back of your hands and feet! Those are areas that probably won’t get acne from coconut oil

Good luck on your exam! What kind of law do you plan to practice?

Good luck on the bar exam!! It is brutal. You will be exhausted but I’m sure you will do well. I took it in Ohio 39 years ago. Really dating myself!

Does anyone know if the JC Penny stores have this item? Was wondering if they would before I made a trip

Luna

They won’t have this exact kit, but they may have a kit specifically for JC Penney stores. While I’ve seen some overlap in products with kits in Sephora stores vs. Sephora inside JC Penney stores, there usually is some variations, but they do tend to come out with the same type of kits around the same time.

I purchased it. Going to take it with me on my 9 day trip to Vietnam next month. I will add small mamonde rose water toner which I got in my allure box. Perfect for my trip.

Have fun in Vietnam Nat! I just came back from there a few days ago. It’s good to have some light skincare products since it’s so hot there

Nat

Thank you very much! First trip to Asia. I am a bit terrified but surely it will be an adventure

Dia

If you’re going to VN for 9 days, you’re going to need more sunscreen than that. I would also suggest bringing an insect repellent. Avon makes a good one.
