Scent Box June 2019 Review

This month, I received Scent Box’s “Scent of the Month.”

Scent Box June 2019 - Booklet Front Scent Box June 2019 - Booklet Back

The information card has a little information about the men’s scent of the month on one side and the women’s on the other side.

In case I have not mentioned it in the past, you get a new holder every month, the fragrance is printed on a sticker on the bottom, and the holders tend to be different colors each month, so you can still keep them sorted out.

On to the fragrance:

Incanto Dream by Salvatore Ferragamo – Estimated Value $6.16 (buy 100 mL for $77, found here for $23.79)

This was first introduced in 2005 and is no longer in production. It is very strongly fruity. Top notes include pineapple, mango, and black currant, and the pineapple and mango are super noticeable on me. Mid notes include apple, peony, freesia, and musk, and the base note is sandalwood.

I don’t normally go for fruity fragrances, but I tend to find them repetitive (so much citrus elsewhere). The pineapple here is a little different from what I usually encounter, and I think I like that more. The floral mid notes kind of fade into the background on me, and I am, of course, a fan of sandalwood and musk, so this works better for me than I thought it might. It is a very summery, daytime kind of fragrance, so I’m happy to have received it at this time of year.

It isn’t the longest-lived fragrance, lasting maybe 3-4 hours before fading. Sillage was soft-to-moderate.

Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $6.16. This fragrance is out of stock or on clearance at most discount fragrance retailers and I only found it for sale in one place. Scent Box seems to be pretty regular with shipping and packaging is always nice and secure, but if you go with the scent of the month, you are almost guaranteed to get something that’s been discontinued, as I have pretty consistently for the past 6 or 8 months. As it happens, I’ve been OK with most of the scents of the month, but not absolutely in love with them, so I’ll probably use up the samples provided but not go looking for more, so it’s all right with me, and it provides me some motivation to go seeking out similar scents to the ones I like best. This one is a little different from others in my collection, and that makes it interesting to me, and I’m sure I’ll use it all before the summer is over.

To Wrap Up:

I wore that scent years ago and loved it! I’m always trying/buying new fragrances so I’d forgotten this one. I guess because scent is so closely related to our memories just seeing the name made me smile and think of my younger and more hopeful and happy years.

I love your reviews but the value of this sub just isn’t there. What is the purpose of receiving a discontinued fragrance, especially one that is 17 year old….the scent profile won’t even be the same as perfume does go bad. Shame the concept is nice. I know you can pick your own but at that price I might as well go get samples at stores to see if I like it.

They’re not actually sending 17-year-old perfume, what they’re sending is the same fragrance recently produced (it hasn’t been discontinued that long).

The value here is two-fold: (1) you can choose your own fragrance if you don’t get the scent of the month (this is the scent of the month) and you can do all the value calculations beforehand if you want to come out ahead of the subscription price and (2) if the fragrance doesn’t end up working for you, you can exchange it at no additional cost. (Also, of course, you can avoid going out to the store if you don’t have time or don’t like malls.)
