Organic Bunny Box June 2019 Review

Reusable Organic Bunny Box

You get a really nicely designed and sturdy reusable gift box each month that houses all of your organic goodies. It just changed designs this month to one with pretty green and metallic gold leaves. Very summery!

The lid stays put with magnets so you can use it again after you've raided it. It reads: "For the glamorous girl with a green heart." The Organic Bunny Box doesn't include an info card but normally has all the items listed on their website by the time it arrives.

Bodyceuticals After Sun Relief, 2 oz. - Retail Value $18.00

This after-sun relief is the perfect item to kick off a June box. Even though it's been raining a ton here in Pittsburgh, we've also had our fair share of sunny days. My roommate just got back from a beach vacation with his family and was burnt to a crisp when this box arrived. Great timing, I'd say! I offered it up to him since his he was lobster-red and he said it did help. Luckily for me, I stay as far from the sun as possible but I know I'll get burned somehow before the season is out. In the meantime, this light repair oil will lay in wait in my linen closet with the rest of my sunscreen and extra beauty products.

Da Lish Metallic Gold Eyeshadow E02 - Retail Value $26.00

Last month, I received an eyeshadow in a similar liquid-lipstick-like container (see it here) and thought it was a really cool idea. This one from da-lish is a much different color and tone, but the idea is still that it starts as a liquid and can be applied using the wand straight to your lids, but then it sort of turns to a powdery finish once blended. I rather like it even though I don't normally wear metallic shades and have been popping this on frequently since getting it. It has a really pigmented rose gold/copper-like color to it and is really easy to use since you don't need an extra make up brush. I simply dot it on my lids and blend with my ring finger. This will be a great option for traveling light if you don't want to pack a whole palette. Plus- the formula is cruelty-free and all natural! Check out the swatch at the end of the review!

Earth Harbor Naturals Mermaid Milk Nutrient Glow Moisturizer, 1 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $21.00 (Buy a 2 oz. jar for $42.00)

Here, we have one of my favorite items in this month's box! As soon as I got a whiff of it, I could tell it contained my beloved blue tansy oil! It has a pale creamy green color to it, and although it's a bit thinner than I like my moisturizers to be, it still feels nice when applying. In addition to smelling wonderful, it absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling supple. I've been using this at night after my serum since it doesn't have SPF but I could certainly use it when I know I'll be using my SPF BB cream during the day as well.

Flora Remedia Sleep Aromatherapy Roll-On, 0.34 oz. - Retail Value $28.00

I'm lucky to usually be a pretty good sleeper, but I can also enjoy an evening ritual as well to let my mind and body know that it's time to rest. This easy roll-on applicator bottle delivers just enough product needed to your wrists, temples, or behind your ears to help lull you to sleep. The scent is very delicate and falls somewhere in between lavender and a clean scent. I keep it next to my bed so I can just roll some on when my bedtime reminder goes off. 🙂

GoMacro MacroBar in Everlasting Joy, 2.3 oz. bar - Retail Value $1.25

The Organic Bunny Box almost always includes a snack in each box and they're usually pretty darn tasty. This protein bar didn't end up being my favorite, but it was a new one to me and I can always keep it around for a road-trip snack. It's quite dense and contains 10 grams of protein while also being gluten-free and vegan so everyone can enjoy it.

Henne Organics Luxury Lip Tint in Bare - Retail Value $21.00

Henne is one of the natural makeup brands that I'm most familiar with. Although I love bright pigmented lipsticks, sometimes I just want a creamy neutral tinted balm to hydrate my lips. This one comes in a sleek black container and delivers just that! This "bare" color is really easy to wear and compliments any minimal makeup look. Check out the swatch at the end of the review!

Little Seed Farm Activated Charcoal Cream Deodorant, 2.4 oz. - Retail Value $14.00

Okay- so this is the first time I've tried a deodorant cream and I am singing its praises! I received the activated charcoal version which happens to smell SO WONDERFUL with ingredients like rosemary, geranium, and spearmint essential oils. I was hesitant at first that it might be messy, but with the included bamboo applicator (below), it was super easy to apply! It doesn't leave any marks on clothing, is the perfect creamy consistency to stay put, and leaves my underarms smelling super fresh! This has been my go-to natural deodorant since I got it and I show no signs of switching!

Little Seed Farm Bamboo Deodorant Applicator - Retail Value $4.00

It was very kind of TOBB to include this bamboo applicator to go along with the cream deodorant from Little Seed Farm. This shallow paddle is the perfect shape to scoop out a pea-sized portion of cream and then gently spread under your arms. Nothing gets clumpy or crumbly and it is easy to use! I simply love this new way of applying deodorant.

TanOrganic Self Tan Oil, 0.85 sample size - Estimated Retail Value $9.72 (Buy a full size 3.5 oz. for $40.00)

I'll admit I have never used self-tanner before and never even been tempted to. I'm quite pale and am not a huge fan of the sun, so I usually stay in the shade and wear pants all summer. Ha! I thought I'd try this anyway, of course, to see how gentle this natural tanner could be. It comes as a clear oil that you simply smooth on (I put it on my right leg from my knee to my ankle) without the need for any gloves. It said it takes 6-8 hours so since I put it on after my morning shower, I let it cure during my workday. When I got home and immediately shed my pants, I honestly could barely tell I had put any on at all. There is the lightest golden tint to my right leg compared to my pasty left, but I think if I wanted a more noticeable difference, I'd have to slather on another layer. Overall, it was really simple though and not messy at all, but I'll have to try it again to get more desirable results.

TanOrganic Tan-Erase Ultimate Exfoliator Glove - Retail Value $20.00

Also included in the box is a "tan-erase" glove that gently exfoliates and removes the self-tanner. It's thin and kinda scratchy and of course brown so that it won't stain once the tanner has developed. Since I couldn't really see the difference my first go around, I won't need this yet but I'm glad they included it for those who end up trying this full-force.

eyeshadow and lip tint swatches

Here are swatches for the eyeshadow and lip tint!

Verdict: This month's Organic Bunny Box had a retail value of $162.97 which is more than double the cost of the box. I received 10 items that are sure to get me ready for summer. The lip tint, moisturizer, and deodorant were my faves while the self-tan oil and glove left a little to be desired. All in all, I think this is a great box to discover all facets of natural beauty.

It’s true. It’s all fine and dandy until you point out something on their end that is the issue. Then, it’s your fault. Hey, you might even get a screenshot of your own message with Ms. Amanda blasted on her Instagram.

I’m curious as to why you have this opinion? I just started a three-month sub to this box in July. I haven’t had to reach out for service yet, but you have me worried.

Little Seed Farm is one of my favorite deodorants. It lasts 24 hours on me (even through my next morning’s workout), and I love the scents. I rotate between the charcoal (spearmint) and grapefruit lemon. I watched a video from the owner, and she said to wet your fingers first, then apply just a small pea-sized amount. It spreads easily when wet (I have the bamboo applicator, but prefer my fingers), but dries quickly, so I’ve never had any issues with it staining my clothing. What I also love is that you can buy small packets for travel, too!

Good to know their other scents are just as nice!

Another great box from OB 🙂 I loved that they switched up the boxes this month. I *think* I’ve noticed a trend of them having the same box every 3 or 4 months(?) then switching to a new design. I know I don’t have this one, so I’m holding onto it. 🙂

Marne, I felt so dumb when I was unboxing June’s box because 1) I couldn’t tell what the Dalish item was… is it a lip product or liquid eyeshadow? I kept squinting at the box, but I still couldn’t figure it out. lol, and 2) I thought the deodorant applicator was just an abnormally large scoop which baffled me because who needs that much deodorant?? lol Fortunately, my mom was in the vicinity when I was unboxing this box and she set me straight on both products right away when she could tell I looked baffled. lol!

Oh, for sure, Luna! It took me a minute too to figure it all out too.
I think that liquid eyeshadow is 1 of 3 that I’ve received this month but if I didn’t look at the bottom I definitely would have put it on my lips.
The deodorant applicator is perfect for me since I have such long acrylic nails and prefer not to use my fingers and get things stuck under there.

I hear ya about not wanting to get things stuck under the nails. For some reason I can’t recall ever having an issue with potted deodorants (it’s been a while though since I’ve used one), but when it comes to certain skincare products like balms or masks that are in pots where I need to scoop the product out (face/eye creams I just dab my finger in the pots), I have to use a scoop because I hate the feeling of getting product under my nails, plus I don’t want to waste it!

Luna

btw, I think that deodorant applicator is a really cool idea too. 🙂 I don’t mind using my fingers for potted deodorants (since a simple wash of the hands afterward removes any residual product), but since I’m always in the midst of still getting dressed after putting on deodorant I do always worry that I might get some residual product on my clothes so this will be nice to try out.
