Macy's Beauty Box July 2019 Review

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included:

beauty booklet cover $5 dicound card product photos inside booklet booklet inside product lists more product info inside booklet back of info booklet

And just like Ipsy, with each box you’ll receive a new makeup bag:

This mesh bag is really bright, cute, and summery. It is not lined, which means it is totally breathable. The neon yellow zipper is complete with  star zipper pull charm.

Now, on to the items!

philosophy Renewed Hope Peeling Mousse Instant Glow Facial, 0.24 fl oz - Estimated Value $3.36 (Buy a full-size 2.5 oz for $35.00)

This is one of those formulas that creates little pills when you rub it in circles, which I am a little skeptical of. I do love this brand though, and find something so charming regarding that light blue color It also smells great. Did I notice a major difference in my skin, before and after? No. Does anyone have opinions on these types of formulas?

Clarins UV PLUS Anti-Pollution Sunscreen Multi-Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 50, 0.3 fl oz - Estimated Value $7.59 (Buy a full-size 1.7 fl oz for $43.00)

This looks and smells like fancy lady sunscreen! I am not a fancy lady, but I do enjoy masquerading as one on the weekends. This little tube is perfect for stashing inside my purse and applying if I ever find myself sitting outside for brunch at a table without an umbrella.

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer, 0.16 fl oz - Estimated Value $4.15 (Buy a full-size 1.35 oz for $34.00)

This primer smelled slightly coconutty, but in a very natural way. It felt really great on my skin and absorbed quickly, leaving it smooth and primed for makeup. It also had a brightening effect that was very noticeable. I did try some concealer over it and it worked really well, going on extra smooth and definitely lasting longer through the day.

tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes 4-in-1 Waterproof Mascara, 0.13 oz - Estimated Value $12.46 (Buy a full-size 0.24 oz for $23.00)

I don't adore waterproof mascara because I feel like it makes my lashes fall out prematurely. I can see the necessity in these hot, humid days full of pool trips and sweat though! This formula went on nice and smooth, though I found it to add more color and definition and not so much volume.

Grande Cosmetics GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper, 0.04 fl oz  - Estimated Value $12.86 (Buy a full-size 0.084 oz for $27.00)

I already have full lips but I love this product for some reason. I think I enjoy the tingle and the super glossy finish! It does make my lips look just the slightest bit fuller too.

Moschino Toy 2 Eau de Parfum, 0.03 fl oz - Estimated Value $1.34 (Buy a full-size 1.7 fl oz for $76.00)

I knew this probably wouldn't be a 'me' scent from the notes inside the packaging. I have yet to love a scent with a granny smith apple note. It was just too fruity for me, and all of those sweet notes drowned out the musky base. If you like sweet, fruity summer scents, this might be a good one to try!

Verdict: Macy’s Beauty Box was well-rounded this month. My favorite items would be the sunscreen, primer, and lip gloss. I was less enthused about the peel, mascara, and perfume. I usually like more of the items in this bag overall, so maybe this just wasn't my month. I also think the overall value ($41.76) was a little less than I am used to, though this is still a decent value for a $15 sub!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I don’t usually do waterproof mascara either but I really liked this one. It did make my lashes look thicker BUT I always use a lash primer. It’s a game changer. It comes off easily if you dissolve it with Vaseline. This works on pretty much all eye makeup and long wear lipstick.

I have long been a fan and a defender of the Macy’s boxes. I sadly now know why people have been complaining about the CS. If you enter a new credit card for your account it will suspend it. You have to go in and cancel and resubscribe. I was literally transferred to about 20 different departments and no one could help me. My account got suspended after new card so i couldn’t actually cancel in order to resubscribe. I spent about an hour on the phone and no one knew a thing about the subscriptions. If i can ever get it cancelled I am going to leave it that way.

It’s awful. If you enter a new credit card, you cannot get this month’s box. No one can help you. They just keep referring you in a circle. Any change, even address, results in your not getting (or being charged for) this month’s box. Idky they can’t get it together.

Megan, I know what you mean about losing lashes with waterproof mascara. I have to use it because I have sensitive eyes that love to randomly water (I really like the tarte one). I started using RapidLash growth serum and the first thing I noticed was I stopped losing lashes, even when I pull on them, which is amazing for me. Costco sells it online with no membership. Just thought I would share, I never really expected it to work, so it was a nice surprise!

Does everyone get the same products and Makeup Bag?

Luna

Yes. As far as I can recall there have never been any variations in the Macy’s box.

I loved the bag too! Everything about it just screams Summer to me 🙂

I personally love those types of peels because they always leave my skin feeling so smooth afterward. I noticed for me, they tend to ball up the most on my problem areas, and barely, if anything at all, on areas where I don’t have any issues. I wouldn’t say they’re my favorite type of peel, but I never mind getting them in a box.

I’m currently working through my deluxe samples of a body cream from Clarins, and I totally feel you about feeling like a fancy lady when using it. Lol! I was surprised how “luxe” it feels, and I dare say it’s probably the best body moisturizer I’ve ever used. Since I go through body moisturizers fairly quickly, I won’t run out and buy it right away cause I imagine it’s pricey, but if the right opportunity presents itself (deeply discounted, awesome gwp) then I may need to stock up. 🙂
