moss Skincare Illumina Vitamin C Perfecting Treatment Intensif, 30 ml - Retail Value $145.00

I'm familiar with moss brand since I got it last month in another subscription. This vitamin C treatment, Illumina, is new to me though. To be used as an overnight treatment, this is a double-duty product that exfoliates and delivers concentrated vitamin C to the skin which should help battle wrinkles, discoloration, and acne. It also says it's a "safe alternative" to retinol for those who have extra sensitive skin and may experience irritation with more common retinoids. The pump allows easy application control of this somewhat thick opaque serum with a creamy color. It glides on with a great viscosity that isn't too heavy or too thin. My skin immediately feels hydrated and plump so I'm excited to see what this can do for my skin over a prolonged amount of time.

Dr. Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil, 30 ml - Listed Retail Value $37.97

I've received Dr. Botanicals in other subscriptions, and like those products, I'm not sold on this facial oil. It feels more like a thin serum than an oil and left my skin feeling kinda sticky instead of hydrated. The scent is also a little overwhelming instead of gentle and smells like candy instead of botanicals. This one is a miss for me this month.

LANIMA Skin Sustain Refining Clay Mask, 4 oz. - Retail Value $55.00

Oh yea, come to Mama. Y'all know I love a clay mask and this one is taking my breath away. The rose gold metallic print against the black box screams high-end and I see right on the side of the box that it's inspired by the Indian Haldi wedding ceremony. This specific mask contains turmeric, white sandalwood, marshmallow root, activated coconut charcoal, and French clay, among other fantastic ingredients. It also comes with a small wooden spoon to scoop the powder out and into your hand or a small bowl. I love to mix powder masks with rosewater or whatever facial mist I have on hand in addition to (or instead of) water. The deep rose-colored powder turns to a deeper shade once wet and takes on a rich whipped texture. Spreading it on my face feels wonderful and the directions tell me to leave it on for 15-20 minutes while it dries. Once dry, it looks just how you'd assume: cracked clay, but in an almost lavender color. The amazing part of this mask is that once washed away, my skin feels well moisturized and soft. Not dried out at all. I'm a big fan!

BKIND Konjac Facial Sponge Infused with Pink Clay - Retail Value $9.95

Ahhh yes, I love a good konjac sponge! The green one I received from L&R back in December was getting a bit old, so as soon as I got this one, I swapped the old one out with the pink clay! If you aren't familiar, konjac sponges are made with the all-natural vegetable fibers from the Japanese konjac root. Many are infused with different beauty ingredients, this one being French pink clay. They are hard and porous when dry, but once you get them soaked with water, they become extremely soft and gentle enough to exfoliate the skin on your face. I like to add my normal facial cleanser in the shower, then do a light scrubbing with the sponge to polish away dull skin. However, this clay-infused version can be used without cleanser at all. The best part is that since it's made of plant matter, it can be composted and won't take up space in landfills!

The Verdict:  Laurel & Reed sent me three hits and a miss this month, but overall I'm still pleased with their selections and the $247+ value is out of this world. This is a wonderful option if you want to try just a small amount of full-size products while supporting a smaller operation than some other subscription offerings.

I just ordered and WOW, very impressed with CS. I got an email asking me which box I wanted. If I wanted July or previous boxes. They listed 5 or 6. I replied I wanted this box. And it’s already shipped. I figure I got to cancel pretty quick so not to be charged for next month.

I like using the Dr, Botanicals oil for my décolletage & shoulder areas, which I like to keep super hydrated but not waste my pricier skincare on.

This was the final box in my 3-month subscription, and I thought it was the best one yet. 🙂 I’m glad it went out with a bang for me. I cancelled for now, but I’m looking forward to keeping an eye out on future boxes.

I agree on the facial oil, it felt sticky and didn’t feel like a facial oil at all. Which sucked because I ordered it for a facial oil to take on a trip to wear under my makeup
