Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of Liz’s top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box – the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2019 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

My Ipsy Glam Bag July 2019 Review

My bag this month features skincare, makeup, and haircare. Now, let’s see what I got!

A card with information about the month's theme, your included items, and other Ipsy info is included.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month's bag is perfect for summer with graphic leaves and pops of neon coral!

12 Benefits Instant Healthy Hair Treatment, 1.5oz - Estimated Value $5.62 (Buy a 6oz full size for $22.49)

This multi-purpose product claims to do a lot of good for hair including protecting it from heat styling and sun, smoothing frizz, repairing damage, and more. Initially, I like how it feels in my damp hair but I can't help but notice that after drying, I get soooo many knots and my hair feels a bit like straw.

GLAMGLOW Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow, 7ml - Estimated Value $5.49 (Buy a 50ml full size for $49.00)

As you can see on the swatch above, this moisturizer gives a subtle glow to skin while hydrating and smoothing. It works well layered under makeup or on its own for a slight blurring effect. The vanilla scent is light and lovely. I like this product but I probably won't buy a full size since it doesn't wow me enough to replace my regular moisturizers.

Billion Dollar Brows Eyebrow Brush - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $16.00

I have so many of this type of dual-ended brow brush, several of which I have received from Ipsy. Aside from not needing another, this one from BDB is good. The spoolie is soft and the angled brush is small and narrow enough to create fine strokes. It's also good for applying gel liner.

Ciaté London Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer, 10ml - Estimated Value $6.30 (Buy a 40ml full size for $28.00)

This little tube is so pretty! The pink jelly primer is water-based, packed with hydrating ingredients, and has little beads of watermelon extract for further hydration. In the full-size tube, the beads burst when going through the pump, but in this non-pump sample, they make it out of the tube! Not to worry, they dissolve completely. This primer doesn't leave the velvety texture that silicone-based primers do but instead makes my face feel super juicy. It works well for me to add some hydration back mid-day when dry AC air has dried me out.

Pacifica Bronzer Blush Duo, Ipsy Exclusive - Estimated Value $11.99 (Based on other duos available)

Pacifica, which makes vegan and cruelty-free products, created this duo just for Ipsy. I'm a fan of the slim compact and built-in, generously-sized mirror. I'm also a fan of the shades! The bronzer is on the lighter side, easily buildable, and matte and the blush is a beautiful nude-rose with shimmer. You can see how these shades look on my light-medium skin tone below.

The summer dewy look is on. After applying a layer of the GLAMGLOW Illuminated Moisturizer and Ciaté Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer, I used the Pacific Bronzer and Blush Duo to bronze my face and give my upper cheeks a bit of flush. I also used the duo on my eyelids to contour my crease and brighten my inner corners for a simple, subtle look.

Verdict: This Ipsy Glam Bag is all about that juicy glow. I'm loving the bronzer/blush duo and the watermelon burst primer as a mid-day hydration gel. I'm disappointed to see a repeat brush style and that the hair treatment didn't work well with my hair. The total value of the products in this month's (super tropical) Glam Bag is $43. I think it's great to be able to try all of these products for just $10 a month and I almost always find something I love.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly! As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist. Check here to see what month you’ll get first.

Good to Know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different assortment of items than me.

Value Breakdown: At $10 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • 12 Benefits Hair Treatment - $1.31
  • GLAMGLOW Moisturizer - $1.28
  • BDB Eyebrow Brush - $3.16
  • Ciaté Primer - $1.47
  • Pacifica Bronzer Blush Duo - $2.79
  • Makeup bag - n/a

Alternatively, each of the 5 items (not including the makeup bag) has an average cost of $2.00.

Hey everyone, not sure where to post this but just fyi, if anyone is thinking of getting the past June mystery bag from Ipsy shopper, just know that they are out of inventory on the Tetris bag itself and so they’ll send June products in a different makeup bag. I was super disappointed that they didn’t indicate this anywhere, and I received June products in a July bag when I specifically purchased it for the Tetris bag. Just wanted to give a heads up.

Thanks for showing us the products; they look great on you, Tiffany! This was my first month joining Ipsy (just got off of the waitlist) and I’m pretty happy with my selection. I’m a “makeup newbie” and I got a lovely Cotton Candy blush, Hempz pineapple lotion that smells incredible, a liquid lipstick, super-moisturizing sheet mask, and a fun purple nail polish!

How long did it take you to get off the wait list?

I finally got my bag today 7/23.. I picked the hemp lotion because it works great and I dont need to use much and it lastba long time… this is my 4th little bottle.i gifted 2 of them to family memebers and they love it too..I wish I was able to try the Pacifica duo to see how their products works… I cant wai to see what the fall and winter products will be.. I will start pausing my ipsy account in order to try other boxes if there are products I won’t use… I liked the huda palette and cant wait to use it .

I tried that 12 Benefit spray and my hair felt the same. Felt dirty to me or at least like straw. Didn’t leave it feeling nice and soft.

I would have loved that brush though!

Glam Glow would have been nice to try.

I don’t care for Pacifica. I feel it’s a cheap brand. I’ve never had good results with any of their products. Low quality/pigmentation/chalky. But that’s just my opinion.

I also got the Pacifica duo & 12 benefits hair stuff, which were my 2 least favorite things in the bag. I’ll try the hair stuff eventually, & will probably try to swap the Pacifica duo if I don’t gift it.

I also got the Hempz lotion, which I requested, Trust Fund polish (always happy to get this brand), & theBalm shadow in Ooh La La. The eyeshadow was smashed when I got it yesterday, so I immediately emailed ipsycare, and I’ve already heard back that I will be shipped a replacement.

I canceled my GBP because of the “out of stock” June shenanigans. I’ll have to see if I even want to keep the $10 bag going forward. I’m pretty angry with ipsy right now.

Not subscribed right now, but love nail polish, so if I had gotten the Trust Fund, I would have been pretty happy, too.

Also: I did receive both my add-ons (Smashbox liquid lip + Coloured Raine shadow) AND my points redemption (IBY shadow), so that was exciting, lol.

Thanks for the review. I’m not a fan of the glam glow and Ipsy keeps sending it to me and it ends up going in the trash.

I’ll take your bag. I love the stuff Ipsy sends me.

You could always swap it on the swap site, gift it, or donate it to a women’s shelter or something.

I never understand folks who throw brand new, unopened products like that into the trash.

My Ipsy Plus bag was shipped on 7/3, 20 days later, still no bag. Not happy at all.

I commented the other day on Ipsy’s FB page they said if you don’t receive your bag within 10 business days to contact them for a replacement.

I want to try that Ciate primer! Still waiting on my freaking Ipsy bag though. Hate DHL shipping.

It’s so odd all the complaints about DHL. I live in the US and have been ordering clothes from the UK for years — and one company always ships DHL; I get my clothes from the UK in 3-4 days. I’ve always thought of DHL as super fast. Must be the delivery plan that ipsy uses?

THANKS for taking the time. I only received the Pacifica duo which seems darker to me that I had hoped but I will still give it a try. I got other stuff in my Ipsy GB this time around and am quite happy with them. Did add on the Glam Glow and hope to like it, I need travel sizes for trips and get-aways.

I am so glad I cancelled Ipsy. Rather put the $10 towards something I will use. This is a big miss for me.
