Cuddle Crate June 2019 Review
Cuddle Crate typically sends out a variety of toy types as well as (usually) one package of treats if you have the single pet type option selected. Let’s see what the cats got this month:
They’ve moved away from an information card listing the items in the box and instead are directing you to a URL where you can look up more information about the items.
Ethical Birds of a Feather Toy – Retail Value $5.43 (found here for $4.99)
This is kind of a large toy but it is lightweight. Also it has a lot of feathers. So this was something Madison really liked. But I have to take it away from him when I am not around, because he tries to eat the feathers. (They seem securely attached.)
Van Ness Fresh Greens Oat Garden Kit – Retail Value $4.09 (found here for $4.03)
Aw, Mr. Kitty used to like cat grass. Monkey still does, though, and I don’t have any going right now, so I’ve started this. But it’ll be a few days before it’s ready to go. For what it’s worth, I strongly suggest poking a few holes in the plastic container of dirt and putting a saucer underneath AND rinsing off the saucer every day, or stinky water will accumulate in the saucer.
Petlinks Hypernip Foxy Flyer – Retail Value $5.99 (found here for $4.99)
I totally didn’t realize this until I went to write the review, but the red rubber ring is supposed to assist you in flinging this across the room (kind of like shooting a rubber band). The cats liked this pretty well without me doing that, too, I think because of all the dangling parts and feathers and so forth.
Ethical Catnip Stick – Retail Value $3.79
This is compressed catnip with feathers sticking out of the ends. (Mr. Kitty used to love compressed catnip. I miss that guy. Anyway…) Madison thought this was very interesting and so did Monkey. The feathers kept falling out so be on the lookout for that.
Redbarn Naturals Protein Puffs in Turkey Flavor (1 oz) – Retail Value $3.99 (found here for $3.19)
We receive these treats in some flavor or other often in this subscription box. In the past, my cats haven’t liked them much, but they were quite popular today. Madison, Sneaky, and Monkey all ate them (Angus can’t have turkey). I have a lot left so Sneaky will get them before and after her asthma inhaler. (She is very food motivated so we use treats to lure and reward her for the asthma treatments.)

Madison likes feathers, and he was also happy to try a treat.
Monkey is not usually excited about treats, but he had just coughed up a large hairball and his stomach was empty and I think he was hungry. He also thought the catnip stick was interesting.
I was hoping Sneaky would bite the rubber ring but she didn’t. She wanted food. I am not sure that sticking your head in the food bag is an effective strategy but she tried it anyway.
Verdict: I calculated a total value for the June Cuddle Crate for cats subscription box of about $23.29. That is significantly under the cost of the box. Although the items were well-liked by my cats, the value just wasn’t there this month. I feel like you could order four of the five things from Chewy.com, find a compressed catnip substitute for the fifth, pay shipping, and still come out ahead compared to the month-to-month subscription cost. This box may be better if you do mixed pet types or use a coupon to sign up.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? June boxes all ship about the same time, so no. Also, there is some customization involved, especially for the multi-pet boxes, so there may be some variation even among June boxes. At any rate, it is now July and your first box would arrive in August.
