CHC Vintage Outfit June 2019 Review

This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! Let’s see what I received this month:

CHC Vintage Outfit June 2019 - Envelope CHC Vintage Outfit June 2019 - Card Front CHC Vintage Outfit June 2019 - Card Inside

There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. The level of detail just gives me the feeling that the people at CHC Vintage are really excited by what they do.

I find that my preferences are really listened to, as well. I don’t wear shorts or super short skirts and what I received this month (see below) is definitely a length that works for me.

CHC Vintage Outfit June 2019 - Floral Skirt and Polka Dot Blouse

Floral Skirt and Polka Dot Blouse

This month’s card talked about mixing and matching different prints. I’ll admit, this is not something I’ve tried before. If I am wearing a solid colored pair of pants or something, I will go with a bright print for my top, but I’m not super adventurous in that area. However, the people at CHC Vintage seem to have a lot of fashion knowledge based on previous write-ups I’ve received in cards with this subscription, so I’m willing to give this mixed print thing a try.

I think they are right, you need to go with a not-very-complex print for one garment if the other is going to be a bold floral style, and the polka dot colors work with the skirt. I did have to wear a white camisole under this shirt as it is quite sheer (and sorry, that’s my Fitbit you can see under the shirt, I have the old-style clip-on kind and wasn’t sure where else to put it).

I am not sure what I think about the style of the top. It is a little bit more fabric and more of a loose fit than I am used to wearing. (I am also not much into tucking shirts in, but I tried to follow the styling suggestions on the card for a more authentic look.) I am thinking I may try some of the styling suggestions for the two pieces as separates, as well – I just need to do some shopping first. The skirt is a good length for me and both pieces are lightweight for summer (it is in the 90s or above like every day here, so that is a concern).

CHC Vintage Outfit June 2019 - Striped Bangle

Striped Bangle

Bracelets are my favorite jewelry and I have a large collection of bangles so this is definitely my style. I have a lot of ¾ length sleeve shirts so stacking bangles or other bracelets is an easy way to accessorize without worrying about necklines and necklace length, etc.

Verdict: I am getting a better sense of what to expect with the CHC Vintage Outfit subscription. I said I was open to outfits from different decades and I have really gotten items originating in the 1940s through the 1990s. Everything has been in wonderful shape (this month included) and all the bottoms have been a length I was happy with (I don’t wear shorts or super short skirts). I’ve received lots of colors and prints and a variety of interesting accessories including some very cute small evening bags and some good everyday use jewelry. I also appreciate that everything I have received is work-appropriate (for me, anyway). This month’s shipment got me to consider mixing prints, which is not something I’d ever tried before, and I think getting outside my comfort zone is probably a good thing, as well.

I’m, also, not a fan of mixing prints and I wouldn’t mix these two. They would be cute with a solid match though. The bangle looks like it will fall off your wrist! I have small wrists and have some that I can’t wear due to it.

It doesn’t seem to me that the two pieces match time periods, but I may be wrong. I think they’d be better as separates. The shirt would be cute untucked over narrow cropped jeans or pants.

Did they tell you what decade each of these pieces are from?

This time I don’t remember seeing that in the card.
