Botanic + Terre Summer 2019 Review

Olivarrier Skin Barrier Fluid Oil Squalane, 30 ml - Retail Value $38.00

I love the super clean branding on this bottle of squalane. The bottle itself is actually plastic but manages to feel very fancy. Inside is a clear and very lightweight squalane oil made from olives. This oil is fast absorbing, vegan, and completely odorless. Because it is so pure, it is safe for even the most sensitive skin, making it a great choice for someone who might really want to try oils but is worried about negative skin impacts. It is a great oil for protecting your natural skin barrier and giving your skin a little extra healthy fat.

Olivarrier Dual Moist Toning Lotion, 200 ml - Retail Value $26.00

I love toner lotions because my Nana used to let me use her Clinique lotion toner every night before bed when I was small. This was my first foray into "fancy" skincare and I think it has caused a lasting obsession. I remember it was called a lotion, but it was watery and I applied it with her using cotton rounds. This formula reminds me a great deal of that stuff, but with a K-Beauty twist. It is a clear, heavy liquid that feels great and absorbs readily. I just use my hands to apply it. My new favorite trick I tried this morning is to mix a little of this in my palms with some liquid highlighter, then pat it all over my face for an out-of-this-world dewy finish. This gives my skin an instant moisture boost, and also a gorgeous glow. Since I am foundation-free in the summers, it is a great look! On the technical side, this lotion has some of the good, good stuff: squalane and hyaluronic acid!

Nocturne Anti-Stress & Sleep Magnesium Oil, 100 ml - Retail Value $33.00

This pretty black bottle is mostly wasted on me since I literally fall asleep if I sit still for too long. Scented with lavender and filled with tons of magnesium, this is meant to assist with a fast and sound sleep. Apparently, magnesium is easily lost when we are stressed out, and when you don't have enough, it can lead to sleep issues, headaches, and a whole bunch of other problems most of us prefer to avoid. Since magnesium absorbs faster though skin than the digestive tract, this is a great way to boost dwindling levels fast!

OLA Bamboo Reusable Bamboo Utensils - Retail Value $8.99

On the heels of my reusable straw obsession arrive these adorable bamboo utensils! Look at how cute they are!! These are the perfect things to stash in my desk to help me avoid using plastic utensils. I really believe that small steps taken by many people over time can help reduce plastic waste, so I am thrilled with these.

Delia Organics Lip Nectar, 0.33 fl oz - Retail Value $19.99

Finally, our last item is a lip roller filled with moisturizing oil. This product is pretty common is subscription boxes (this might be my 3rd or 4th?) but it is handy to have close by in the winter. Alone, I find that I don't notice a huge benefit, but where this really shines in before bed, combined with a heavy lip balm. The balm helps the oil stay in place and do its magical moisturizing work!

Verdict: Botanic + Terre had some really great products this month, but I do have some concerns. This box had an overall value of around $125.98, which is pretty good for a $69.95 box. However, per the B+T website, the premium boxes should have a value of $150+.

This is on the pricier side for subscriptions, and I expect a little more value. Don't get me wrong, I loved the products this month and will use them all. However, I think this box needed another decently valuable item.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I agree that there should’ve been another big item. The items sent were fine (and look absolutely lovely!) but for that price, it didn’t seem to pack a big punch. I feel like you can get similar items/curation in another slightly lower priced box.

I usually have zero issues with the value of boxes as long as it at least meets the cost of the box. Above the cost of the box is a super great bonus. BUT, I refuse to sub to a company that chooses to advertise one thing and then falls short.
They are just shooting themselves in the foot when they do that. Stick to the actual value, quit promising and then not fulfilling and you’ll be fine! That’s my two cents anyways.
Always love your reviews btw.. thanks.

Ever since seeing Gothamista talk about the brand Olivarrier I’ve been wanting to try their products, and I almost subscribed to this box because they were included… but I held off. Gosh, I never really thought Influencers influenced me when it came to what interests me, but I guess they do! 😀

The packaging is really clean and slick, which usually gets me even before the influencers do! I am a packaging nerd.

I’m actually the same way! Even though I love watching beauty related videos on YT, I’ve never been one to think, “oooh, so & so likes this so I’ve GOT to try it out!”, but rather I view them to introduce me to products I would otherwise have never known about (just like my beauty boxes!), so when I saw her mention the brand, I remembered they were going to be in this box, so I was tempted to sub. But I’m totally a judge-a-book-by-its-cover type of gal when it comes to product packaging. lol If I love the packaging, I’ve just got to try it! lol! I’m usually not turned off by packaging, but there have been some that has never appealed to me (like most Kate Somerville packaging) so I’ve never bothered trying most of her products even though I’ve heard how good a lot of them are. lol

Loved the story about your nana! Precious memories.

I honestly think my skincare obsession started with her Clinique love. If Clinique ever launched a box I would probably cry.
