Bonjour Jolie June 2019 "Moon & Stars" Review

This month's Bonjour Jolie box is all about the moon and the stars! They included this card which lists all of our items and their values. On the back, they tell you how you can name a star for free and also give some information on a bonus gift we received this month!

I love that they always carry the theme into the paper our items come wrapped in.

Let's start with the goods. All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that usually fits within our theme.

When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.

Seventh Generation Tampons, Regular (7)- Buy 18 for $6.99

Seventh Generation Ultra-Thin Overnight Pads (10) - Buy 28 for $7.99

Kotex Long Liners (3) - Buy 16 for $0.99

You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products. This month I received 7 tampons, 10 pads, and 3 liners.

Summer's Eve Cleansing Cloths in Sunset Oasis (2) - Buy a box of 16 for $1.79

Cleansing cloths like these seem to be in every box which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them to freshen up.

Advil To-Go Packs (2) –  Buy 50 packets for $8.53

These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.

The Bomb Gals Bath Bomb in Galaxy (4.5 oz) - Listed Value $7

This vegan bath bomb is handmade with plant-based ingredients and the beautiful colors and fun star "sprinkles" are a nice touch! It certainly goes well with our theme and will be perfect to use in a nice relaxing bath. I'm not sure what the scent is, but I'd say it's a little bit fruity with mostly floral notes - very clean, but not overpowering!

Hikari Glitter Mask Duo Pack - Retail Value $21.00

These masks were such a fun and fitting set for our box theme! I loved that they came with two different masks: Starstruck, which is a gold mask with black pieces of glitter, and Starcluster, which was a black mask with tiny gold stars and blue and black glitter. I decided to try Starcluster and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. For starters, it had a strong alcohol smell to it and it was really thick and hard to squeeze out of the package. I wasn't sure how much to spread on my face, but I think I got that part down okay and it only looked a little funky with the sequins in it. When it was time to pull it off though, it was so painful! It was like it stuck to any tiny microscopic piece of hair that was on my skin and I felt like I was waxing my whole face but I had to pull it off slowly instead. I was afraid of what my skin would look like afterward and it was definitely red but thankfully it calmed down quickly and returned to normal. So needless to say, these masks are not for me! I do have skin that is on the drier side so that might have had something to do with it, but I've never had this experience with a peel-off mask before!

The rest of our goodies all came packaged together in this fun bag with gold stars all over.

Milky Way Candy Bar - Listed Value $0.75, Buy a sharing size for $1.39 here

This candy bar is a pretty self-explanatory choice and one I'm sure most everyone has tried. Is this anyone's favorite though? Around here it is that candy that you always end up with tons of at Halloween, but it is usually only eaten as a last resort!

Chocolate Double-Decker Moonpie  - Listed Value $1.00, Buy a box of 9 for $7.95 here

The card lists an Original Moonpie, but it looks like we received a double-decker with extra layers inside. I am not a big marshmallow fan, but my kids loved this and I thought it was the perfect choice for this box!

Angelino Stars Triple Cocoa Cookies - Listed Value $1.00, Buy 20 packs for $10.99 here

I have never heard of these cookies before but I thought they were pretty good! A chocolate shortbread cookie with a chocolate creme in the center that has a good crispy cookie to creamy chocolate ratio. It was not overly sweet and the whole family was able to try these with 8 in a pack!

Mini Starburst Sours 1.85 oz -  Listed Value $1.00, Buy an 8 oz bag for $13.99 here

These little chewy, fruity bites were a nice treat! While I didn't think they tasted like traditional Starbursts they were tasty and just a bit sour.

Perdido Bay Sweets Galaxy Lollipop - Listed Value $2.00

How cute is this little lollipop? I love the blue with the white swirls and that wrapper featuring metallic gold stars pairs perfectly with it! This is from a shop local to Bonjour Jolie in Florida which I think is nice!

Bigelow Fruit Teas (3 bags) - Buy a case of 6 boxes with 20 tea bags each for $18.95 here

Each month they send three tea bags and usually find a way to tie them to the theme. I was a little confused about the raspberry and peach until I saw the card that told us the Milky Way tastes like raspberries and that the first fruit eaten on the moon was peaches! What a clever way to tie into our theme! I decided to try the peach tea and it really was just like a fresh peach pie with juicy peach flavors and a hint of cinnamon.

Bonus Item: Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Patch - Buy a box of 5 patches for $4.98 here

Our bonus gift this month is a pain relieving patch from Tiger Balm.  I haven't used this yet, but I'm sure it will come in handy one day! It is not supposed to be messy or greasy and contours to your body to provide comfort and relief with a mix of topical analgesics including camphor and menthol. The real test for this patch will be whether it truly does provide minimal odor because those are some pretty strongly scented ingredients!

Verdict: It is so fun when Bonjour Jolie commits to a theme like this! They really go all out to make sure each item in the box fits within the theme and while some of the items weren't quite for me, I still appreciate the thought behind their inclusion. I especially liked the selection of snacks which was really fun. Using the listed values for the edibles, I estimate the total retail value of this box to be about $40.55 which is pretty good for a $24.48/month ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) box! This box delivers both the essentials for that time of the month as well as some fun extras making it a real treat to receive.

While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
