Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 Review

Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Info 1 Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Info 2

Here is the info sheet for this month’s box. This month’s theme is “Mudra,” which is a symbolic, ritual gesture in Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. I like that the front of the info sheet included a Mudra Mantra to use with the Mala included in this month’s box- it is a nice touch!

Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Mala 1

Amazonite Mala Necklace

A mala is a strand of 108 beads plus a “guru” bead designed to help you with meditation or prayer. From my research, in Hinduism the number 1 stands for God, the universe, or your highest truth (whatever you believe!), the number 0 stands for emptiness and humility in the spiritual practice, and the number 8 stands for infinity and timelessness, which is why the malas are strung with 108 beads.

Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Mala 2 Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Mala 3

Amazonite is known as the “hope” stone, so this box felt especially timely now that I have graduated from law school and am studying for the bar (I am basically living on hope, protein bars, and tea at the moment).

Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Mala 4

Based on the research I have done on malas, I usually only wear them on the days that I actually used them to meditate as a reminder of what my intention was, rather than purely as a fashion accessory. I do love the way the blues, tans, and golds of this necklace complement each other, though!

Amazonite Bracelet with Om Charm

This bracelet features amazonite along with an Om charm, and since it is not a mala bracelet, I am much more comfortable wearing it purely as a fashion accessory rather than as a meditative tool. I wear a lot of gold accessories, and I think this fits right in with my other bracelets.

Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Prince of Peace Ginger Chews with Lychee 1 Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Prince of Peace Ginger Chews with Lychee 2 Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Prince of Peace Ginger Chews with Lychee 3 Yogi Surprise Jewelry Mudra May 2019 - Prince of Peace Ginger Chews with Lychee 4

Prince of Peace Ginger Chews with Lychee, 3 oz – Retail Value $2.05

Ginger has a lot of medicinal benefits, and the sweetness of the lychee balances the spiciness of the ginger. When I first start chewing, I experience the sweet that then turns into the ginger burn, and chewing one of these made a noticeable difference after feeling bloated from a delicious dinner that I overindulged in.

The Verdict: This month’s box from Yogi Surprise felt especially timely with what I am experiencing in my personal life, and I also appreciate how pretty amazonite is as a stone - plus the ginger chews will be handy to have around. Yogi Surprise listed the total value of the box as $68. I am not a beading expert, so I cannot attest to the quality, authenticity, or value of the beads included. What I can say is that the pieces felt like they were of good quality (the Mala especially had a solid weight to it), and for the $24.95 I am happy with what I received – especially considering all jewelry is handcrafted with fair trade materials.

I find the Mala so interesting. Adore ginger candies and combined with lychee? Definitely will be keeping an eye out for these! Great review!

@Jessica – thanks for a great review, and good luck taking the bar exam!

Regarding numbers, 108 totals 9 which is a very meaningful number in many cultures. There’s a lot of info on the symbolism of numbers in Hinduism at
