June 2019 Target Beauty Box Review
This month’s box is all about those travel-sized go-to's!
This info card provides a short description of each item sampled and on the flip side a Target coupon good for $3 off a beauty purchase of $15 or more. This month I received a regular barcode coupon to use in-store or online.
Moving on to Target’s on-the-go must-haves!
CND VINYLUX Weekly Polish in Romantique .13fl oz - Estimated Value $2.73 (Buy .5fl oz for $10.50)
CND Weekly Top Coat .13fl oz - Estimated Value $1.90 (Buy .5fl oz for $7.29)
I love little kits like this! These minis are great to test out sets without shelling out the cash for the full-sized products. I’ve never tried CND’s polish products, but a younger me swore by their Solar Oil to strengthen brittle nails and soothe unruly cuticles. This duo promises a week’s wear of chip-resistant polish; my job requires me to work with my hands quite a bit, so this will be the ultimate test!
I knew this color wouldn’t personally fit my style, so I decided to test it out on two of my nails, letting the rest of my fingernails to breathe for a few days. The first coat went on in milky, streaky strokes, but it dried very quickly and felt smooth on my nails. After the second coat was applied it looked somewhat better, but I could still see the first coat through it. I was hoping the topcoat would even things out, but I just wasn’t satisfied with the end result, although the shine from the topcoat looked great! I wore this for 3 days, and only now am I noticing any signs of chipping - not too bad for this girl!
TRESemmé Between Washes Volumizing Dry Shampoo, 1.15fl oz - Estimated Value $1.60 (Buy 4.3fl oz for $5.99)
In the last few months, Target has been really pushing the dry shampoos, and even though I am swimming in the stuff, I appreciate having a hoard of dry shampoo for every mood and occasion! This formula went on without a chalky residue, and it left my hair smelling so fresh. I have very fine hair, and this formula did not assist with volume; after a few hours wear, I think it actually made my hair feel a little heavier. This is something I may reach for after washing my hair to create a more 2nd-day hair vibe, but I wouldn’t use this to amp up volume or to reduce oil.
Herbal Essences Bio Renew Dry Shampoo, 1.7fl oz - Estimated Value $2.43 (Buy 4.9fl oz for $6.99)
Green tea and cucumber scented dry shampoo!? Those are two of my favorite fragrance notes, and the two combined smell terrific! I tried this on third-day hair, which, for me, isn’t a dire situation; I just needed a little oil control and some texture for volume, and this formula wasn’t working any miracles. It didn’t leave any white residue, and the scent lingers for a few hours, which leads me to believe that this is the perfect dry shampoo to reach for when you’re looking for a fresh fragrant boost, but as far as oil-reducing or volumizing goes, I’d look elsewhere.
Pixi T-Zone Peel Off Mask, .5fl oz - Estimated Value $7.24 (Buy 1.52fl oz for $22)
Pixi in a Target Beauty Box makes me so excited!! I see this brand every time I walk into Target, and I am always curious, so I was more than happy to try this mask out. It is a pearly green and promises to detoxify using a unique superfood blend. This mask is meant to use on your t-zone, and after letting it dry for about 15 minutes, I was able to peel it off in just a few satisfying sheets. Like most peel-off masks, my skin felt softer and looked a little brighter, but other than that, I didn’t notice any other purifying effects.
Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots Ampoules Hair Treatment, .5fl oz - Retail Value $1.99
This is a lovely product! It went above and beyond what a hair mask can usually do for me, and the end result is silky, knot-free strands! This deep treatment targets damaged hair and also helps to repair and prevent split ends. The instructions say to apply after shampooing and conditioning, without mentioning how long to keep it on (so I let it soak in for a minute or so before rinsing it out). A little bit goes a long way with this product, especially since I only applied it from mid-length to my ends, so this tube will last through a few more washes. This is definitely my favorite discovery from this month’s Target Beauty Box!
Verdict: Target’s go-to travel essentials were some interesting picks this month. They’re not what I’d immediately think of when I think of traveling, but I’m sure they will come in handy. The value of this box is $17.89, over double the $7.00 box cost including free shipping. This box is a great way to stock up on travel essentials, and I love seeing the different products Target has to offer. Not everything was a perfect fit for me this month, but I will be using each item in one way or another regardless.
