This box comes with a card detailing all of the items included. As usual, the floral illustrations are stunning.

We have so many pretty things to see.

'Imagine' Travel Eau de Parfum, 2 fl oz - Listed Value $30.00

I am not sure how I feel about this scent. It has a really strong coconut middle that I don't think I enjoy, though the other notes are lovely! There is some orchid right at the top, but it quickly fades into that creamy coconut middle. Where this fragrance really shines for me is in the base, a heady mix of jasmine, citrus, and woods. The whole scent has a sharp green note that seems to swap and play with the coconut cream, making what could be easily written off as a beachy scent into something more unique and dramatic. I just don't like coconut scents so this is going to go to a friend who I know will love it. This scent was previously discontinued, and I know a ton of people will be thrilled to see it again, since it did have somewhat of a cult following.

Field & Flowers Handcreme, 2.3 oz - Retail Value $20.00

I always enjoy the hand creams from this sub because the formula works really well with my skin and the packaging is gorgeous. The scent of this cream is super light and floral, almost powdery. It is a really simple scent, just flowers, a little honey, and some sort of sweet fruit. Smelling it reminds me of the Anthropologie beauty and body care section. The cocoa butter formula feels thick and luxurious, instantly giving my dry hands moisture and smoothness.

Chinoiserie Glass Water Bottle - Listed Value $21.00

I actually needed a new water bottle, so this was a welcome addition to this box. I love that it is glass and not plastic! It is covered with bird, vines, and flowers. The top is a shiny gold which works really well with the colors of the illustration. Hidden among the leaves is a poem by Rumi:

You are rain soaking

everywhere from

clouds to ground

TokyoMilk No. 82 Bees Fine Hand Soap - Retail Value $12.00

From the bees on the packaging, I was expecting a warm, honey soap scent, but this bar really surprised me! It is much more green than I would have ever thought, with notes of apples, leaves, and musk. I really love the scent! The bar itself is a shea formula, meaning it left my hands feeling clean, but not overly dry. The lather was very creamy and felt very luxurious.

Lollia 'Breathe' Perfumed Shower Gel, 8 fl oz - Retail Value $22.00

A tube of shower gel seems to be a standard offering in this box, which is good because I am getting used to always having some at hand in my shower! This month the scent is called 'Breathe' and it is one of those lovely waterly florals that I love Margot Elena for! It has floral (lily?), citrus, and musk notes, and smells a little boozy while still totally fresh and borderline "innocent". The formula is great, as always—thick, rich, skin hydrating. I love these gels.

Summer of 1982 Travel Candle - Listed Value $12.00

Again, a little too much coconut happening here for me to absolutely adore. This is a summer box though, so, I get it! The creaminess is a little more sophisticated because this candle also has notes of magnolia, musk, and something soapy that I can't quite place. I feel like there are also tulips in here, or some other form of bulb flower. I did enjoy the scent of this burning much more than I did just sniffing the unlit candle. The fire and burning add a layer of sophistication to an otherwise very sweet scent.

The Cottage Greenhouse Grapefruit & Blood Orange Travel Hand & Body Lotion, 4 oz - Listed Value $12.00

I love this scent! It is just straight-up citrus, with grapefruit, blood orange, sugar, and a little green. The formula has a rich base of Macadamia oil, mango butter, and shea, and absorbs easily, leaving my skin looking smooth and happy. The citrus scent layers really well with my more woodsy perfume, giving my rather autumnal smelling self a hint of summer.

The Cottage Greenhouse Japanese Plum & White Tea Dry Body Oil, 4 fl oz - Retail Value $26.00

I sadly suffer from eczema spots on my legs, so I love body oils. They just seem to work better for me than creams or lotions. I find that you can also use most any oil on your hair for flyaways, even if it isn't specifically made for hair. This blend of soy, grapeseed, and sweet almond oil is drier than many of my others, and absorbs super fast! The scent is lovely and so summery, of tea, plums, and something slightly nutty. Sometimes fruits can seem too sweet for me, but this one feels sophisticated and very warm weather appropriate.

Water Lily Pencil/Makeup Brush Case - Listed Value $20.00

Cute!! I love little bags like this for travel, especially to store my longer makeup brushes in. You could also use it for jewelry, pencils, tampons, anything! The print is a little different than your normal Margot Elena style. It features stylized hills and koi, alongside lily pads and lotus blossoms. The fabric feels like a lightweight cotton canvas.

Water Lily Graphite Pencil Set - Listed Value $5.00

These cute pencils match the case above perfectly and come with a cheerful, bright pink pencil sharpener.

Love & Toast Cherry Lemonade Lip Balm 0.22 oz - Retail Value $9.00

I really love getting a lip product in a box like this. The flavor couldn't be more perfect for summer! Cherry Lemonade is exactly that, a sunny citrus with sweet cherry accents. The balm itself is a blend of lip-loving jojoba oil, beeswax, and olive oils. As with everything in a Margot Elena box, the packaging is stunning and over the top gorgeous.

Summer Inspiration Postcard Set - Listed Value $12.00

Lastly, we received a set of 3 oversized postcards, each illustrated by Margot Elena. Each is on super heavy, substantial cardstock, and features beautiful little drawings and beautifully handwritten notes.

Verdict: This is by far one of my favorite boxes. I always look forward to opening it each quarter and seeing all the beautiful packaging and products. The Margot Elena team really goes over the top! The beauty of this box is also its giftability; each item is already beautifully packaged and each makes a perfect present, hostess gift, or 'just because' surprise if you can bear to part with anything. I usually love most of the scents in this box, but there were a few this month that were beautiful, just not "me" and I am looking forward to gifting them! This is one of those boxes that feels like a whole experience because everything is curated and special. The overall value of this box is around $201, making it a great value for a $49.99 box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! The summer box is still available. These sell out quickly, so if you love it, snag it!

Value Breakdown: At $49.99 here is what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Imagine Perfume $7.46

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’m not going to use some items from my Summer 2019 box. Can I list items here for sale??

I love the Imagine perfume, i would be willing to swap for more if someone doesn’t want / enjoy theirs!!!

I am on the swap site, new to it but have no idea how to begin the process…I have lots to swap!!

Absolutely love my Margot Elena Discovery Box, So Much fun to receive and try new products. Love getting the shower gels and hand creams! The cards in this box were really nice, too!

I am on the fence about keeping this sub. I like it, but I feel like the retail value is really inflated. $20 for that pencil sleeve? I would never pay that. The smells are really pleasing, I just can’t decide if it’s too much to spend for soap and lotion.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

But you’re not paying retail prices, so that bag is only about $5. Isn’t that the joy of subscription boxes–all the goodies for a fraction of the price?

Reply ButtonReply

Theresa

Looking forward to getting mine! I love Margot Elena!

I received my box and love it so much. It’s my second from this subscription. The packaging is amazing and would be an impressive gift. I love scents and the only one I’ve ever been opposed to is rose. If you are sensitive to smells or picky about fragrance this definitely is NOT the sub for you.
The amount of items is impressive as well and I do love the variety. The only real repeat is two lotions.
Already looking forward to fall!

My box arrived, and I adore it! I like to set aside a few items from these boxes as gifts, but I want to keep every item in this one for myself :). That said, my water bottle arrived damaged, and my perfume arrived spilled / half empty. I emailed the company but am curious if anyone else’s items arrived damaged like this? Thankfully the perfume was very well wrapped, so the spillage was contained. However, I’m bummed to be out the water bottle and perfume. I’m hoping they will be willing / able to replace them. Anyone have a similar experience? What was the outcome? Thanks!

I wanted to post an update. Margot Elena sent me a replacement water bottle and a replacement perfume. I was very pleased with the customer service experience. Loving the box.

My items arrived in perfect condition, really carefully packaged.

Mine were carefully packaged, just damaged. The company responded; they are going to send me replacements for the two items that arrived damaged.

Whew, these comments are all over the place, lol. I received my box today and decided to stay away from spoilers (except for the first water bottle one) and so glad I did! Everything is lovely…even though I knew what I was getting into when I ordered the box, I was a bit unsure how I would feel about the scents since I tend to prefer those that are more earthy. I really loved everything, including the perfume. Meagan, did you spray the perfume itself on your skin? I can see what you mean about the coconut scent when smelling it off the skin, but that didn’t stand out at all to me when I sprayed it on my body. Just thought I would mention since body chemistry can change the fragrance.

Kristin

Got my lovely box today and that bar of soap is HUGE 2” x 4” I may try and cut in half.

Reply ButtonReply

Suzanne

Does anyone know if the water bottle is dishwasher safe?

Reply ButtonReply

MG

Mine arrived super scratched and gouged, so I would be wary of putting it in a dishwasher; I suspect it would not hold up well.

Reply ButtonReply

TheOtherJulia

No. It’s hand wash only. It’s gorgeous though.

This was my favorite ME box so far. I love everything in it.

Reply ButtonReply

Marcia

I just received my box yesterday.

I’m wondering if anyone has any creative ideas for the water bottle? I know I’d break it using it for its intended purpose 🙈- it’s too fragile for my bedside and traveling. I’m a klutz.

Reply ButtonReply

vicki

I thought about buying a string of tiny LED lights and putting them inside and hanging the bottle like a little lantern on my porch or a tree.

Reply ButtonReply

Marcia

Thanks fur a great idea – I will try that inside as I live in a windy and rainy state.

Jessica

Fellow clumsy person here 🙂 I am thinking of growing a few bamboo stalks in my water bottle.

Reply ButtonReply

Marcia

Great idea. I’m decent with plants so I’ll try a Chinese Money Tree Stalk!

Thank you for sharing 😉

Kathy

Maybe as a vase? Fill it halfway with water and throw in a few flower stems!

Reply ButtonReply

Marcia

Thank you!

That’s a practical and “safe” idea – that piece is so pretty but I just know how clumsy I am 🙈

MissPippa

I really hope my box arrives soon. Recently we have received some of our neighbor’s boxes and they have gotten some of ours. Everybody has been great about dropping off anything delivered to the wrong address but I did have one package that said it was delivered but never appeared. I do worry about boxes being taken off our doorstep & hope I don’t need to change my subscription habits. I can’t have things delivered to where I work and I work such long hours that I can’t ever get to the post office when it is open. Oh well, my fingers are crossed.

Reply ButtonReply

ME

I’ve been a subscriber since the first box and sadly this is the first box I haven’t cared for. The water bottle is lovely but I didn’t care for a single scent. I hope for a wonderful Fall box.

Reply ButtonReply

Lsusan

Oh poo! Dont say that , please! I’m watching out the window for my Margot Elena to be delivered and am hoping to love it! I really like the tokyomilk, Lollia and cottage greenhouse so I’m super excited! The pencil case, pencils and lip balm are going to my 7 year old granddaughter whose coming to visit for a week! Btw, just kidding, you have a right to your opinion, just hoping to love the fragrances!🙂

Reply ButtonReply

TheOtherJulia

This was my favorite box that I’ve received from ME. I love all the fragrances that came in it. Everyone is so different on what they like fragrance wise. I hate the Brazilian bum bum cream, but I know most people love it. Just one of those things I guess. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lacey

Cancelling. Cheap crap that smells like plastic in pretty packaging.

Reply ButtonReply

Sandy

Still my favorite subscription box – everything feels and smells amazing, and it’s so pretty! The care they use in every facet of their products always makes me feel special.

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

Received my box 4 days early and I love it. I love the smell when I open the box. Most excited about the bottle, body oil, and perfume. Will likely not keep the bar soap (love the smell but don’t use bar soaps), bag, pencils, and lip balm (don’t use lip items where I have to use my fingers).

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

Hi
I don’t like having to put my fingers into products either. Try getting some plastic applicators, Bag of 100 is pretty inexpensive. They are washable/Reusable. Much more sanitary.

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

Thanks!

PudgeKat

The stuff smells good but it dries my skin out sooooo bad. I need to drench myself in oil or shea butter after using their body wash and bubble bath. I’ve been with them since the beginning but going to take a break now that my annual is up. Some of the boxes were special and beautiful and hope ME fans continue to enjoy them.

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

Favorite box so far. Everything smells amazing, the water bottle is beautiful. I’m over the moon

Reply ButtonReply

Barb

Me too! This is my favorite box so far. They hit all the right notes with a candle, soap, shower gel, hand cream, body oil and lip balm. I like the pencil case for brushes when traveling and i will find a good home for the water bottle.

Reply ButtonReply

Katie

I received my box today, and I think it is my favorite ME box, maybe even subscription box in general, ever!

I was planning to gift a few things, but can’t let go of any of it, with the exception of the beautiful postcards I will be writing notes on to include in some care packages I’m making to get rid of some of my stash of extra products.

I’ll be hitting the swap boards to get as many extras as possible, especially this blood orange lotion. Great job, ME! Can’t wait for fall!

Jeanette

I subscribed to the Margot Elena Box after reading about it on this site. I just received my first box (Summer) and I am overjoyed! This is by far the best subscription box I have ever received, and at a little over $50 when you factor in the shipping, it’s just an incredible value. The box was very carefully and artfully packaged with bubble wrap and peach colored tissue. Everything was set in the box just so, and nothing was damaged or broken. And the products! It’s like going into Anthropologie and being able to grab all of your favorite items from the beauty and gift sections but at a much lower price. I am truly delighted with everything in the box, and I know that I will use every single item. This box would also make a wonderful gift for a mom, sister, or friend. I can’t wait to receive the next box—it’s just too bad I have to wait for a few months 😀

Barb

A lot of these comments are so depressing. Maybe those of you who don’t like these products could just not order the box, and let the rest of us enjoy it? I’m really looking forward to my delivery next week. Please leave me in peace.

Reply ButtonReply

Lacey

Maybe some people and/or the box creators appreciate the feedback. Do you just blindly buy something on Amazon and *hope* it’s good with out reading any reviews? Or if they bother you, read the MSA review and skip the comments.

Reply ButtonReply

Caligirl

Agreed. My box arrived this morning at work. I have be so busy to open it. Love love this box so much. Haters go home, or just don’t buy it. My favorite sub of 10 boxes.

I love Margot Elena. And I love everything in the subscription I think it’s a great deal. I went to the site Tlc recommended to look up ingredients and did a search on Margot Elena (you can search under a company name as well) and the products they examined actually scored pretty safe, so I’m not sure what this is all about, but I think the recommendation to do your own research is a good one.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenae

You’re paying for the experience. and the fine fragrances. These are not your mass commercialized scents. You’re also not going to find many ingredient decks out there in general in the IndieBrand world – the industry is changing so much brands can’t keep up with consumerism and are constantly changing formulations to keep up with regulations. A LOT of work goes into keeping the formulation compliant, testing, packaging updates, resourcing ingredients.. let alone keeping marketing up to date. If you want full transparency, go to the store and take a look at the package yourself.

It’s so disheartening how hard people are on brands these days. If you want the SAFEST product in the universe, literally YouTube it, DIY it yourself, and make sure to use it within 48 hours because without preservatives, bacteria can grow in your product, and things like E Coli happen under your fingernails or in your shower. I’d rather be able to continuously put on a product throughout the day to maintain dryness than keep making my own handcreme.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenae

In reference to why you don’t find many ingredients online in general.
I’ve worked for three different big box brands in the span of 10 years and personally find Margot Elena to be a total treat. She is my fave. Don’t let all the ingredient nonsense get you down! Too many people reading online and then think they’re knowledgeable.

Reply ButtonReply

MJ

Additionally please do your own research on these products instead of listening to other people spewing off inaccuracies. I know for a fact that the Cottage Greenhouse items include ingredients that are completely made in the USA, do not contain parabens & are never tested on animals. Actually I think all of the Margot Elena items are free of harmful parabens. Make some phone calls, do your own research. Don’t be sheep.

Reply ButtonReply

DawnS

Just because someone opened your eyes to something you may want to rethink does not make us sheep. I do my own research but also appreciate what someone points out like bad ingredients, foreign production, or bad business practices like not giving raises to meet the cost of living. It gives me a place to start to research. I do not feel receiving advice to consider before you buy makes me a sheep.

Well said! It’s noteworthy also that “Margot Elena” operates as a DBA and is owned by Burwell Corporation. “Margot Elena” has a male CEO and the founder stayed on in the creative department.

Luckily minimum wage was raised here in Colorado. I hope Burwell eventually adopts a company culture that elevates from within, and can think out of the box to help grow those who are new to our country/state. Since they’re selling at luxury price points…😉

Kristin

I work for a large corporation and have never received a cost of living raise, it’s usually 2%.

Jessica

Parabens or not and made in the USA or not (and NO not all of her products are paraben free..hardly any are actually ) When they contain ingredients like phenoxyethanol which is a carcinogen and can cause skin and lung irritation. It’s also toxic to the kidneys, nervous system, and liver, and repeated, long-term exposure can cause organ damage (These are what studies have found not just my opinion) ….This was literally in almost every cottage greenhouse product I found. And in ALL of her handcremes.. And then also including tetrasodium EDTA in these same products making you actually absorb the carcinogenic ingredients better…No those are not high quality ingredients and are actually dangerous…They look pretty on a shelf though. Just need a much much lower price point because they are not quality products at all. I suggest if you are going to take Mj’s advice and do your own research, you should start with those ingredients.

“Parabens or not and made in the USA or not (and NO not all of her products are paraben free..hardly any are actually ) When they contain ingredients like phenoxyethanol which is a carcinogen and can cause skin and lung irritation.”

…is this supposed to be a sentence? Or perhaps two sentences? In either case, you missed the mark. Better luck next time.

MJ

Phenoxyethanol (a preservative that keeps us from getting much more toxic mold and bacteria into our bodies) is rated a 4 in the Skin Deep database by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), which puts it in a group of moderate hazard chemicals. However, Phenoxyethanol is actually much better than some of the alternatives, which include formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, parabens (which can disrupt the endocrine system) and methylisothiazolinone, a registered pesticide that is banned in Europe for health reasons. Despite what you might read on the Internet (as I highly doubt you are a chemist) it has NOT been classified a carcinogen.

Like I said – people need to do their own research or maybe just look up someone who actually HAS a degree in chemistry and take advice from them.

Drminniecooper

Please state your reference as to which agency classifies phenoxyethanol as a carcinogen.

Tlc

Advocating for individuals to do their own research, is always a wonderful thing.

As th OP of comment below, I referenced “Made in China” to the lifestyle and textile items.

I live in the local area; have met the investors behind the brand (the company is run by a male CEO and The founder/namesake, Margot Elena is on as executive staff).

The designs and packaging are beautiful; and many people are thrilled with the skincare products. Beauty and skincare represent a HUGE marketplace; well known, well packaged brands and branding go a long way (Hello St.Ives!)

I find this to be an excellent resource for researching ingredients: https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/

However, be prepared to type ingredients manually, as Margot Elena does not list full ingredient details on their website.
