LuckyVitamin The Man Box Review
Bulldog Original Samples
This foil sample trio contains a single use of the Bulldog shave gel, face wash, and moisturizer. This would be super handy to store in a toiletry bag for an overnight trip, or just to see if you like the products enough to invest in the full-size versions.
Method Men Cedar + Cypress Body Wash, 3.4 oz – Estimated Value $1.32 (buy the 18 oz version for $6.99)
I love scents like these- they’re usually marketed towards men, but sometimes I want to smell like a forest too. I’ve tried method body washes before, and this had the same good formula of cleansing without being too drying. For the price, it’s a good one!
Andalou Naturals CannaCell Men Invigorating 3 in 1 Body Wash, 1.7 oz – Estimated Value $1.52 (buy the full-size version for $7.60)
I think invigorating is a good word to describe this body wash - it really was refreshing to use. It glided over my skin with ease, and it was moisturizing so my skin didn’t feel tight and dry after using.
Shea Moisture Men Bourbon Commodore 4 in 1 All-Over Wash, 2 oz – Estimated Value $1.71 (buy the full-size version for $8.79)
This all over wash can be used on your face, hair, and body. It reminds me of a meme I saw that basically said guys products are designed to do literally everything you need in the shower, and girls have products targeted specifically for moisturizing their left elbow. This has shea butter, aloe, and menthol, and I enjoyed the woody bourbon scent.
The Grandpa Soap Co. Pinetar Body Wash, 1 oz – Estimated Value $1.05 (buy the 9.5 oz version for $9.99)
Oh boy, this scent. The best way I can describe it is as the lovechild of tea tree oil and bbq sauce. It’s definitely unique, and perhaps that’s what guys out there want to smell like. I would classify it as “invigorating,” and the formula didn’t dry my skin out.
The Grandpa Soap Co Pinetar Shampoo, 1 oz – Retail Value $2.77
This has that same unique pine tar scent as the body wash, but it was a little too much for my dry hair. If your hair leans more normal or oily, though, this probably will do just fine.
The Grandpa Soap Co Pinetar Conditioner, 1 oz – Retail Value $2.77
More pine tar! This conditioner has the same scent, and I thought it did a good job of adding hydration to my dry hair.
Herban Cowboy Vegan Milled Soap in Forest, 5 oz – Retail Value $2.88
This soap smells great! Along with chlorophyll and rosemary leaf extract, this also has oakmoss, tree moss, and black pepper seed oil. This brand is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, too.
Herban Cowboy Dry Deodorant Body Spray, 2.8 oz – Retail Value $6.37
I’m a little confused on how this can provide “maximum protection” when this is aluminum free. In fact, I’m not even sure what ingredient is active one because this doesn’t have baking soda either. As a body spray rather than a deodorant, though (this works as both!) I’m happy with the scent of sage, rosemary, and parsley - it’s herbal but refreshing.
Every Man Jack Aluminum-Free Cedarwood Deodorant, 0.5 oz – Estimated Value $0.97 (buy a 3 oz. stick for $5.81)
I’m a fan of aluminum in my deodorant, and if a guy gets this box and normally sweats a lot I imagine he will feel the same way I do. The cedar wood scent is nice, but I wouldn’t reach for this before heading to the gym.
Badger Unscented Lip Balm, 0.15 oz – Retail Value $2.99
I will take all of the lip balms, and this certified organic and cruelty-free one does a nice job of hydrating my lips without a bunch of fanfare. Sometimes I just want simple (but effective!) and this fits the bill nicely.
OKAY Men Professional Beard Pomade, Full-Size! Retail Value $7.99
This was the one item in the box I couldn’t try, and I didn’t have any bearded friends I could rope into testing. This is made in the USA and paraben free, and if you or your man needs a beard pomade this alone is worth almost the cost of the entire box.
The Verdict: I thought this was an awesome assortment of products from Lucky Vitamin. Most of the sample sizes were generous, and we received a few full-sized products too. Other than the beard pomade, all of these products could be considered gender neutral if you like more earthy and woody scents. Lucky Vitamin promised value of $50 for this kit, and by my math, they came a bit short with a total value of $32.24. I still think this is a great value and an affordable way to stock up on TSA-friendly toiletries.
