Loot Anime "Odyssey" March 2019 Review

Loot Anime Odyssey March 2019 sticker Loot Anime Odyssey March 2019 info card

Loot Anime usually includes a poster in lieu of an info card, but it looks like they have swapped to that smaller card format. I wonder how people might feel about missing out on a poster each month. There's a product list with descriptions of each item on the back. This month, the box is "Odyssey" themed, and in typical Loot Crate style, it is months late.

Re:ZERO Mug

This is a smaller mug (they refer to it as a teacup on the info card) featuring Rem, a water magic wielder. I think the pale blue interior is appropriate for her magic specialization. It is a very cute mug, though quite underwhelming, especially when combined with our next item in the same box.

Naruto Tumbler Glass

I have a couple of problems with this item. One, we received this item already back in the February 2019 Loot Crate. I know not everyone gets both subscriptions, but I can't help but feel there is likely a ton of overlap and getting this again feels like it was just a leftover and tossed in. Secondly, this is the second cup item in this box. I love getting them every so often (they are a great way to enjoy your fave fandoms from your office desk!) but two in one box is too much. I also have to wonder how excited younger subscribers will be about mugs and glasses instead of fun pins or figurines. The glass itself is actually really heavy and the illustration is crisp and bright.

Ninja Themed Red Bull, 8.4 fl oz

Is it sad that this was the most exciting item this month? I love Red Bull (though I am down to like one a week from a 1/day habit!) though I usually buy sugar-free. This particular can features the face of arguably one of the most popular Twitch streamers, Ninja, and comes with a card detailing a contest where you can win a chance to play with him, and likely lose badly in front of the entire internet! He seems like a nice guy though, so maybe he would let you win a round?

Overwatch Anniversary Tee

We could have received either this Overwatch shirt, a Voltron design, or one from Castlevania. I would have picked this out of that bunch! This black shirt celebrates the Overwatch 3 year anniversary and features the entire cast of playable characters. The back has the Overwatch logo and a callout regarding the anniversary.

Exclusive Loot Anime Bumper Sticker

The last item is arguably a filler piece. A flimsy bumper sticker rounds out this box.

The Verdict: The Loot Anime assortment this month was not good. It felt really random and was not exciting at all. The Red Bull was my favorite item, which is not a good thing. If you love kitchen goods, this box was a winner for you. If not, you can join me in sipping our Red Bull and wearing our Overwatch shirts. I hope next month is an improvement!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

We used to be so excited to get out loot anime boxes. now. Not so much. Seriously thinking of canceling.
Been receiving them from day 1. And now even with the new company the last few crates have all been repeat items. And not even the good things.

I really dislike Loot anything. I’m never happy with it.

I don’t like pins, magnets ECT. & who needs 2 cups in one box at once?

Everything feels like a waste of money. $40 can be put to better use!

I get the shirt is a decent value but sometimes it’s not to my liking. If at all.

Sigh.. sadly cancelled all three of my Loot Crate subs today. My Loot Fright was two months late and my Loot Socks from March, April, May STILL haven’t shipped and I’ve already been charged for June.. in addition to my Risky Biz crate (T-shirt,Socks,underwear) which I bought a three month subscription to and have yet to receive a single crate.. that was about to renew in June too.. but more than all these delayed shipments, the fact that they delete comments and block users on their social media annoys me even more. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful to silence their customers and their legitimate criticisms. It’s totally shady and deceitful to lure in new customers while blatantly ignoring their customers opinions.

That Overwatch t-shirt is a repeat item and is originally from the FIRST Anniversary event, hence why none of the 2nd year or 3rd year heroes are featured on the shirt. Looking into it more it looks like it was include in May’s Loot Gaming crate back in 2018. That along with the Naruto Tumbler being repeated, it seems like Loot Crate is trying to re-purpose their less popular items. Wouldn’t doubt the other t-shirts features (Voltron and Castlevania) were repeats as well. Given the lack of items included in the Loot Anime crates lately I wouldn’t doubt they’re pulling the plug on the crate, which is sad as it was promising when there was a figure in every crate earlier in the year.
