GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually a deluxe size or full size, and the value is usually good too.

GlossyBox June 2019 Review

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included.

Before we get started, I want to give you a heads up that I am not sure yet if there will be variations in this box, or if all subscribers will receive the exact same items.

Wanna see what's inside the box? Let's go!

Morgan Taylor Nail Polish in 'All the Queen's Bling', 15 ml - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $9.49

Good to know: Nail Polish colors will vary from box to box.

I tend to use only really boring nail colors. I literally get the same color each time I get them done! I do tend t use brighter colors on my toes, but sometimes I feel like certain colors are just wasted on me. Not so with this lovely lilac! What doesn't show up well in these images is that this is a rather sheer polish. Kind of more of a topper unless you plan on committing to three coats. It is a lavender wash of tint and electric shimmer that looks amazing on top of my normal neutral polish. The texture is not super shiny, but nor is it matte, giving a pretty demure pearly finish to a soft polish. If you built up with multiple coats it quickly becomes more opaque.

Three coats!

Emma Hardie Purifying Pink Clay Detox Mask, 15 ml - Estimated Value $15.60 (Buy a full size 50 ml for $52.00)

Another day, another clay mask for my dry skin. BUT WAIT. This clay mask was actually the least drying one I have ever sampled. It does boast the ability to " improve moisture levels in the skin" but I totally wrote that off before I was proven wrong. It did indeed leave my skin feeling thoroughly cleansed, but it wasn't drying at all. This is probably because it has glycerine and moringa oil, two ingredients my skin seems to enjoy, especially when it comes to moisture retention. It also smells so, so good! I am sorry I doubted you Emma Hardie. Forgive me?

Invisibobble Waver - Estimated Value $2.33 (Buy a 3 pack for $7.00)

I am an Invisibobble convert. I have them stashed all over and I love that they don't leave creases in my hair or make my tresses extra frizzy. This is the newest offering from this brand and I am less enthused. I use bobby pins a lot (still not over the Olsen half-up looks of my early 20s) and I generally cross one of the other for extra hold, since my hair is thick and unruly. This wouldn't work for me, but aside from that, I just have always considered bobby pins to be super temporary. You buy a bunch and slowly shed them all over your house, car, LIFE and then buy another pack when needed, and then you proceed to lose all of those as well and the cycle continues. This new plastic option is just too long term of a relationship for me, though maybe this is the adult direction I should be taking? This little thing works fine. Holds hair and leaves no crease, but I am just not convinced.

Omorovicza Cleansing Foam, 1.01 oz - Estimated Value $15.84 (Buy a full size 5.1 oz for $80.00)

I have gotten this cleanser before and I liked it then too. It is a creamy texture that foams just a little as you use it. The smell is really amazing, herbal, and floral, and greenish. The scent is almost my favorite part. The cleanser itself is really effective and also cooling, leaving your skin clean without dryness. This is one of those products I really love, but would never consider actually buying because of the price. I am certainly happy to get another generous sample size though!

Unwined by Hask Brut Rose Inspired Deep Conditioner, 1.8 oz - Retail value $3.99

Unwined by Hask Provence Rose Inspired Deep Conditioner 1.8 oz - Retail value $3.99

My mouth loves wine and my face loves a wine sheet mask, so why should my hair be left out? These packets are really large, and even with my long, very thick hair I could probably get a little over 2 uses from each. These are not the heaviest deep conditioners I have ever tried, but that suits me fine since I prefer my hair a little wild. They smell more like strawberries and watermelon than wine, which was a little disappointing, but probably a good thing since I don't need to be wandering around the grocery store smelling like a winery. I applied after shampooing and left on for about 5 minutes before I washed out and then slept on my damp hair. They both worked about the same, giving my hair a nice moisture boost and a little extra shine the next day.

Sleek Makeup Eyeshadow Palette in 'Sun is Shining', 9 g - Retail Value $12.99

I am not really very impressed with this palette. The colors are fine, but the pigment is really lacking and there is a ton of fallout, even with fingertip application. Aside from a few of the shimmery options, these shades didn't apply smoothly and some of the mattes were downright chalky. It took a lot of effort to swatch a few of them because the color just didn't show up without a few swipes. It is true that I am likely spoiled by higher quality (and higher priced) palettes, but this is not one I would recommend to anyone, even at the low price.

Verdict: GlossyBox was well rounded this month. We received everything from hair products to a facial cleanser, and a nail polish.  This box has a value of $64.23, which is decent for this $21 box. My favorite would 100% be the nail polish. I love the color. I also really enjoyed that cleanser and the hair masks. The clay mask was such a shocker! Can I use a clay mask without irritation?! The palette was a dud in terms of quality. It just wasn't there. The hair clip was also something I don't see becoming part of my routine, though I have managed to not lose it yet, so maybe there is hope?

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Incredible! This blog looks just like my old one! It’s on an entirely different subject
but it has pretty much the same page layout and design.
Superb choice of colors!

Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the images
on this blog loading? I’m trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it’s the
blog. Any feed-back would be greatly appreciated.

Awsome info and right to the point. I don’t know if this is truly the best place to ask but do you people have any thoughts on where to employ some professional writers? Thanks 🙂

Some years back I discontinued my Glossy Box sub. This month (June 2019). I received the same products. The nail polish was a different color, but it is pretty in the bottle. I have tried everything I received, and wasn’t overly impressed. The hair clip is rubbish. Maybe this brand has better products others than this. By the way, I only received 1 clip in my box, but I dislike the one so much that I really don’t care I was shorted on that. I like the hair conditioners, but only use them on the ends of my hair. They really make my hair shine. The eye shadow is cheaply manufactured, the cleanser has an amazing smell, but I like a cleanser that foams more. I gave away the clay mask because that’s a product I would never use. I paid for three months, so I will give Glossy Box two more chances to wow me. Fingers crossed!

I cancelled GB quite a while ago too, because of their variations. IMO they always sent the best box to MSA to review, and I usually ended up with more of a dud. I still really like some of their LE boxes though, and get those occasionally.

But the Sleek palette in this one- seriously? Got that in a prior Target box. Junk!

I used to subscribe to GB – the box alone made me happy 🙂 – years ago I received really good products but it got to the point where I wasn’t using anything and unsubscribed. I like to still read the reviews and see what I’m missing. Obviously nothing. This box is awful. For the price I’d rather take the $21 and go buy myself a full size product of something I need. I am super excited to be trying Test Tube for the first time. Their boxes always look so interesting.

So, so glad I left this sub awhile ago .. not missing anything tiny size samples , fillers of low products and sleek really? That is a cheap brand

The different types of scent preferences varies so much from person to person it’s incredible! I absolutely love the smell of the facial cleanser. I find it almost addictive, lol. I totally agree about the eye shadow palette, and I received it in a previous GlossyBox, yuck.

Melissa

Megan, you and I have very different scent preferences! There was another product you reviewed recently (can’t remember what it was) that you thought smelled great, and I didn’t like it. Same with this cleanser. I was so excited to try it out, but the scent really turns me off. I have decided that if all their products smell like that, I don’t want to try the others.

As for the hair masks, they say they are for colored hair, and I don’t color my hair. Would they still be good for me? I mean, I guess a conditioner is a conditioner. I was going to put them up for swap immediately because they said they were for color treated hair, but now I want to keep them.

Wouldn’t you know it? I got the exact same shade of Morgan Taylor polish that they sent me a year or so ago.

Hey Melissa! I def like in-your-face herbally/bold scents and I tend to lean a little weird in terms of smells that really grab me. Do you like softer fragrances?

You can 100% still use the hair masks! They are basically just super-powered conditioners. Hope you enjoy!

Luna

I don’t color my hair, and I have used one of those hair masks before (I can’t remember which one, but I think it was Brut Rose), and it worked perfectly well in my hair. Like you said, for the most part, a conditioner’s a conditioner (unless of course it does something specific like tone or deposits color to the hair… or is that shampoo?), so if you’re interested, you should try it out! 🙂

Sleek is junk. Every single item I have tried I have trashed.

2nd that sleek is uhhh… cheap looking, no pigments

I used to find hair ties disposable – they got stretched out and lots of hair stuck in them – but I’ve been using the same 2 invisibobbles for months. Maybe this clip will work the same, who knows?

I love my invisibobbles!

Love that shade of polish. I got that palette in Look Fantastic before.

I like the polish more and more as I wear it. I think it might be my summer shade. 🙂

I received a Sleek palette in a Target box (which was smaller), a few years ago.
Really not impressed to see it in a box that costs much more. I’d be downright mad to have got that in a $21 box.

Looks like the invisisibobble clip WAS in Glossybox Luna! 😂

I liked the little clip. I have to kinda twist my hair a little then put it in and it stays put. I’m glad we are getting another in the test tube.
