Dia & Co is a monthly plus-size clothing subscription box that is personally curated for you by a Dia stylist. Upon enrolling with Dia & Co, I filled out an extensive survey asking me about my clothing size/weight/height, price range, and also my style likes and dislikes. Every month my stylist selects five pieces that could be clothes or accessories to try out. If I like them, I have the option of buying them. There is a $20 per month service fee, but the fee can be applied to any purchases I opt to make. A 25% discount is applied if I chose to keep all five pieces too!

The items in my box are chosen personally for me dependent and reflective of my style and price preference, so the package you receive from Dia & Co may be entirely different than mine!

Dia & Co Subscription Box Review May 2019 - Envelope Top

Here is that adorable Dia & Co envelope I look forward to seeing every month!

Dia & Co Subscription Box Review May 2019 - Darling Message Top

Also enclosed is this darling message from this month’s stylist, Katherine. She mentioned that they couldn’t include any of the Betsy Johnson pieces I requested this go around, but that she would keep an eye out for me. I do appreciate that and am eager to see the items she selected for me!

Dia & Co Subscription Box Review May 2019 - Invoice Top

The other form is an invoice that has a detailed list of the brand, name, color, size, and price of each item she selected for me along with the grand total after the styling fee and 25% off (if I opt to keep all five items) is applied. My prices aren’t listed, but the total would be $270.50. After the $20 styling fee and 25% is applied my balance for the entire box would be $187.88! The savings would be $82.62 if I did decide to keep everything! That isn’t too shabby! That would be like getting the Daniel Rainn dress for free! What a deal!

Here we have a tropical-themed tank top perfect for summer! The top is lightweight and has a retro turquoise, pink, and white-on-black color palette. Truth be told, this top reminds me of one my grandmother wore in my childhood in the late '80s/ early '90s. It is making me sentimental; she was the queen of all that was pastel! I styled these with the matching shorts my stylist sent me, but this top would pair great with a black mini skirt, pink flats, and a grey denim jacket with a teal scarf tied at the neck for the cooler spring and summer nights.

These shorts. I want to like them, I really do. I don’t know if it is the cut or the color, but I am on the fence about them. Maybe I would have liked the same shorts in a red or orange shade? I don’t know why this teal shade is so off-putting to me. I love that my stylist sent me a complete outfit, but I feel these shorts may be a tad outdated and matronly. I do, however, like that they are a longer-length style, though — I can definitely wear them to work! I styled these with the Miranda pleat back top and my fave, pastel pink, mondo cat-eye sunglasses to add some retro flair! I can envision wearing these shorts with a roomy, popcorn-textured white sweater and flats at the end of the season.

This piece is definitely my favorite of Katherine F’s selections this month! The dress is light, but definitely has enough coverage that I can wear it to the office. This piece is light enough to wear in the spring and summer, but it can easily translate to fall and winter with tights, booties, a cardigan, and a knit hat. The floral pattern is so stunning—I love the cobalt blue with the pops of salmon, burgundy, and sage in the floral print. I also appreciate the elastic waist—it really adds definition to my midsection! I styled the dress effortlessly with some black chunky sandals for a look perfect for work or a date! I have worn this a few times to work already and I get tons of compliments every time!

This is another top I favorited on the Dia & Co site. I remember when the Nanette Lepore line came out at theCURVYcon a few falls back. I adore the mod-inspired, geometrical floral pattern on this blouse! The ruffle detail adds a delicate and romantic quality to this top. I opted to style this piece with dark denim jeans and vintage blue Candie’s I found at a prop warehouse sale a few months ago! This top would look excellent with a dusty pink or celery pencil skirt to bring out the colors in the blouse, or a mini-skirt and oxfords for a brunch/ museum date with friends.

This top was not one that I had check-marked, but it was a happy surprise nonetheless. The fabric has ample stretch and is rather comfy. I might not have selected it for myself, but I actually like the warm coral against the navy and green. The striped pattern adds depth to what might have been an overwhelming print otherwise. This pairs wonderfully with jeans, but I can certainly see this being styled with a grey or coral denim mini skirt and flats for an even more amped casual ensemble. I even can imagine it looking adorable with a pair of overalls as well!

Verdict: This month’s Dia & Co box had some hits and misses. I absolutely loved the Daniel Rainn dress. It was the showstopper of the box as far as I am concerned and is a piece I have already got a lot of wear from! I also enjoyed the Nanette Lepore and Gilli mix-print tops. These will be fantastic pieces to wear at my office job. The Rafaella Vernon shorts were my least favorite thing in the box along with the In Every Story Miranda pleat top. I just was not feeling that look; it just wasn’t me. However, next month is a new box and I offered a lot of feedback on the selections Katherine sent my way. I can’t suggest enough to provide feedback on each box—it is so crucial! I often send the link to my Pinterest for my stylists, but the neat thing about Dia & Co is they have an option where you can pin pieces you like on the Dia.com site to hint to your stylist what appeals to you. Did you know too, Dia & Co lets you select THREE of the five items in your monthly box as well? There are so many options to ensure you get a dream box from them now! Due to all the interactive feedback options, I am confident about June’s selection and am eager to see what my stylist sends me! Maybe a Betsey Johnson x Dia & Co collaboration dress? You never know! Tune in next time!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Dia & Co curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box has a $20 styling fee and includes free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $270.50. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 styling fee for the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $187.88 for the whole box. Ultimately, that is nearly a 30% off discount.

Mary

Ok, I think the shorts are super cute paired with that first top! I don’t like the waistband so I wouldn’t tuck a shirt into them, but I think the cut and color is fun and flattering!

Bonnie

That teal is off-putting to you because it’s only seen on senior citizens (75+) and hospital scrubs – the opposite of your young, fun, quirky yet retro glam style. Those shorts are awful. But I love your idea on how to style that top that you are showing with them – the black mini, pink flats, and gray denim jacket.

Beth

I love the black blouse paired with the skinny jeans and Candies…super cute!

Nicole Rieder

Thank you so much, Beth! I thought the Candie’s helped amp up the ensemble well.

Krista

Totally agree on the shorts. Maybe in a different color, but even then, not sure I’d be feeling those myself. The dress though. Big hit!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Krista! Yeah, it is a weird cut. I do like that they were fairly high waisted because I only do high waisted bottoms. Hahaha. Thanks again for checking out my review!

That dress 😍😍😍😍

Thank you, Cara! I am a fan of it too! I wear it often to work. Can’t go wrong with it.

You could make a cardboard box look great with your style!

Our grandma’s must have shopped at the same store as my grandma totally owned an outfit like the first one! Maybe from the Blair catalog 🤔

I really love that Nannette Lapore print and would love it in the same store dress as the Daniel Rainn dress which was also gorgeous😍

Everything else was okay, not great, not bad but okay…. Except for those shorts! Those were not good! The length… The odd bagginess… But reading your reviews this seems like a rare thing with Dia & Co.

I can’t wait to see the Betsy Johnson stuff!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Omg, yes, Jenn! My grandmother LIVED for Blair catalog items. Tbh, this is a dorky, but if I am thrifting and find a Blair item I get a little teary because I link that brand to her so much. That and Charles of the Ritz makeup line that is long gone. Hahaha. But yes! My grandma lived for that color combo, I swear!

And yeah, the dress was definitely the winning piece. I even would love to see that Nanette Lapore fabric used in a jumpsuit! An ultra 70s jumpsuit.

MzBev

omg! I love those denim Candie’s! I had a pair close to those, WAY back and wish I still had them now! Also, you look great! Every review I read of yours, I just think that you are probably so fun to hang out with! I wish I lived closer!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Awe, MzBev, thank you! Those Candie’s were a steal. I got them for $2 at a TV show prop warehouse sale! They are like a blue leather/suede like material. Best find! I wish Candie’s would make that style again because they are so timeless!!!

But thank you! I like to think I am good company. Always eager to meet new folks too!

AmyM

Agree on the shorts. The first word that came to my mind was “matronly.” Everything else is fantastic though. You received some outstanding florals and they all look great on you. I LOVE Daniel Rainn pieces both for their prints and the cool details, like that micro-pleating on the back of the dress. I also love how you suggest how pieces can span the seasons by changing up how you would style them.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks, AmyM! Yeah, those shorts weren’t the best. But I have faith that the June box will make up for those shorts. Haha.

And I am glad you appreciate my style suggestions. When buying a piece I always think how often can I wear this? Can it be we worn year round? I try to come up with at.leaft two or three ways off the top of my head it can be styled too to make sure it is versatile and worth the money.

Marion

Yikes, those shorts! I thought Dia & Co was founded to try & avoid plus styles like this.

Other than that, looks like a pretty good box. The mixed print shirt looks great with your hair color!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks, Marion! I am very pleased with the other pieces. I love a good floral and my stylist definitely got me some great ones!
