Cuddle Crate May 2019 Review
Cuddle Crate typically sends out a variety of toy types as well as (usually) one package of treats if you have the single pet type option selected. Let’s see what the cats got this month:
They’ve moved away from an information card listing the items in the box and instead are directing you to a URL where you can look up more information about the items.
Jackson Galaxy Twisted Kicker – Retail Value $7.76
This is a large toy (see some size context in the cat pictures below). Madison and Monkey just wanted to rub their faces all over it. But we have received several large toys like this in cat subscription boxes in the past, and even if there is no immediate interest, I have definitely caught kitties wrestling with these at odd times. I’ve put this in a spot where Monkey checks for new toys every now and then.
OurPets Bumpin’ and Groovin’ Instinct Toy 2-Pack – Retail Value $4.99
These are some small mouse toys with long tails. The tails were quite interesting to my crew, but I think they also liked the different textures of the bodies. These are somewhat noisy (they have a bell or rattle or something along those lines inside) so I’ve put them where Angus can play with them at night and not bother us.
OurPets Slowpoke Play-n-Squeak – Retail Value $7.99
You will receive a lot of toys from this product line if you subscribe to Cuddle Crate for cats for any length of time. This one is a bit bigger than some of the others. It comes with a little tab you can pull out and it squeaks (essentially the same squeak as the chicken toy from the same line). Madison and Monkey liked cuddling with this.
Ethical Pet Spot Shimmer Glimmer Turtle – Retail Value $2.99
This has some interesting textures that Monkey and Madison spent a long time investigating. (Angus wasn’t feeling his best when we were taking photos. We’re adjusting his IBD medication to try to help him feel better and so far, it does seem to be working.) It’s a bit crinkly but not too noisy. It’s somewhat bigger than the mouse toys but not particularly heavy so it can still be tossed around.
PureBites Salmon Cat Treats (0.39 oz) – Buy 0.49 oz for $2.99 (found here for $2.29)
This size doesn’t appear to be available any longer so I’ve linked to a slightly larger size. (Alternatively, this may be a new size, as Cuddle Crate has sent some very new-to-market items the past few months.) This is freeze-dried salmon. This wasn’t hugely popular, which was a little surprising since my kitties really dug some freeze-dried chicken the other day, and this was stinkier (in a “cats should like this” fishy kind of way). In general, this is a good brand. Mr. Kitty used to eat their freeze-dried duck liver (we still have so many bags of that left; it was the only treat he could have).

Sneaky did eat the treats. But I’ll bet no one is surprised by that.
Verdict: I didn’t calculate a total value for the May Cuddle Crate for cats subscription box because the treats aren’t available in the size received. The other four items added up to $23.77, which leaves about $6.18 for the treats. Seeing as a larger package of the treats sells for less, I think this box was just a little under the desired value this month. One extra item would’ve been nice to round things out. As far as the individual items, I’d say they were typical for this subscription and everything appeared to be new and well-made and to contain fresh catnip.
