Collections by Joya June 2019 Review

Collections by Joya includes a card in each month's box featuring a model style with several items from their collection. This same image has been on the past few cards I've received, and I'm eager to see if next month's will be something different—I love the styling inspiration they offer!

On the back is an advertisement for their upcoming gift show appearances. It's set up like a postcard so you can send it along to a friend to spread the word about this amazing brand if you so wish!

This month's items didn't come in the classic canvas pouch! They were just loose in the box with grey paper sizzle, which is how the jewelry arrived the first few months that I received this subscription. I don't love the idea of these expensive pieces being jostled around in transit, so I hope the pouch returns next month.

Half-Moon Bay Earrings - Lapis — Retail Value $69.95

Say hello to the lapis that I love so much! This bright blue color is such a beautiful cool tone that, even though it's a bright pop, goes well with so many different hues I might wear. I'm into this take on the geometric jewelry trend—it's not all that often you see a circular earring that isn't a hoop.

The circular pendants do slide around a bit on their wires, so they might take a bit of positioning when you first put them on.

After taking these earrings off after taking the above photograph, I set them down gently on my dining room table and one of the stones fell right out! Heartbreaking! This isn't the first time I've experienced Joya pieces breaking with light wear, but often times the fixes are easy. I will just superglue this back in, but if this happens to you and you'd rather have it replaced, the Joya customer service team is stellar.

Verena Medium Bracelet - Turquoise — Retail Value $59.95

Turquoise—my original love! I've been drawn to turquoise since I was a child and remember some specific pieces my mum got in Santa Fe that stood out to me. In the past, there have been times when the delicate bracelets Joya has sent felt a little too delicate for me, both in style and in function, but this beaded one is right up my alley. It can be really easily dressed up or down, and stacked or worn alone. I'm a fan of the toggle clasp!

Just lovely, isn't it?

Mayan Pendant Necklace - Onyx — Retail Value $68.95

What a cool, unique necklace. The onyx stone makes it feel almost medieval to me! As much as I do like it, I don't know how often I'll wear this in the foreseeable future because my 10-month-old daughter has a way of grabbing the necklaces I wear, and this could turn into a serious weapon fast, haha. I'm not sure whether I'll gift it to a friend or save it to wear when she's a little older.

And, finally, the classic Joya gift box and ribbon, to be used for any pieces you'd like to share these gorgeous items with someone else.

Verdict: I am thrilled to have received a variety of gorgeous stones in this month's Collections by Joya box! The lapis, turquoise, and onyx are all colors I will enjoy wearing and will feel very 'me' in. And, all three pieces will fit seamlessly into my wardrobe, even if I have to delay wearing the necklace.

This box costs $49.95, including free shipping. The earrings, ring, and bracelet add up to $198.95, which is on the high end of normal for the Joya subscription box. Incredible deal, isn't it?

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Order by 7/8 to get the July box! From Joya:

Orders placed by the 8th of the month will be shipped on the 10th of that month.  All subscriptions will ship on the 10th of each month or the next business day if it falls on a weekend or holiday.

Value Breakdown: At $49.95 for this box, here is what you're paying approximately per item:

  • Half-Moon Bay Earrings: $17.56
  • Verena Medium Bracelet: $15.28
  • Mayan Pendant Necklace: $17.31

Alternatively, each piece of jewelry has an average cost of $16.65.

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

The bracelet does look very wearable.

Idk about a $70 retail value for earrings that break after being worn for probably less than an hour.

Not more than ten minutes! Though, the break seemed to have less to do with the wear and more to do with the removal. It’s too bad, for sure, but I feel confident it won’t happen again now that I’ve used my own glue to fix it!

I love that super unique necklace! I wish we could’ve seen it on you though. I often like a piece and then realize I wouldn’t wear it once I see where/how it hangs. And the reverse happens too of course.
I like so many of the pieces in this sub but unfortunately I only wear silver 90% of the time. Plus, I’m not impressed with how easily these pieces fall apart. You’ve been fortunate (from what I can remember from your reviews!), Kristen, that yours have fallen apart early on and at home. I’d worry I’d be out somewhere. Or in your case, a little one or pet might find it. I have a cat that thinks he’s a puppy and chews on anything and everything! I just wouldn’t expect pieces with this kind of retail value to fall apart the minute (or very shortly after) you try them on. I don’t think I’ve really had much jewelry do that unless it was when I was young and shopping at Claire’s and the like.
