Crazy CatLadyBox June 2019 Review

CatLadyBox is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for June:

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Booklet Front

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Booklet Back

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box.

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Box

Fabulous Flamingo Catnip Toy – Listed Value $5.99

This was pretty fabulous – it had feathers, and the legs were some kind of paper/raffia product. Angus was violent with it but it is still in one piece, which is an added bonus.

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Toucan

Timmy the Toucan Catnip Toy – Listed Value $5.99

This is a handmade felt toy. It is small and maybe not as flashy as the flamingo, but it is a great size for tossing and it just the kind of thing that Angus likes to play with overnight (also sometimes Monkey goes into our home office to play with catnip toys during the day). It also seems well made.

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Towel 1

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Towel 2

Cat-Shaped Beach Towel – Listed Value $22.99

This month is shaping up to be quite tropical. I love the bright colors, and this pretty much has beach towel functionality while also having a novelty cat shape. I don’t really do anything outside but our neighborhood does have a pool and we have summer visitors coming who may want to use it, so it is good to have a few beach towels on hand so they don’t have to bring their own. Sometimes I also fold a towel up in the pet carrier when I have to take a cat to the vet, just so the bottom is a bit softer.

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Shirt

Cat Cocktails Tank Top – Listed Value $22.99

OK, nobody needs to see my triceps right now (but I am lifting weights and hopefully that will change at some point). But I can use this as a workout shirt; my basement exercise room is getting quite hot, even with the air conditioning on. The design is cute even though I don’t drink.

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Bottles

Cat Travel Bottles – Listed Value $12.99

I don’t travel so often (arranging care for chronically ill animals is difficult, can you imagine explaining Sneaky’s asthma inhaler to my 70-year-old parents?). However, I did have to stay in the hospital for a couple of nights after surgery in 2017, and then I spent most of the week after on the first floor of my house because stairs were a problem, and I can see the use of items like this in those circumstances, as well (decanting from the larger face wash and body lotion bottles to have a small supply of frequently used products close by, for example). I may fill one of these from a large bottle of hand lotion I’ve been having trouble using up and keep it in my purse, too. These are a TSA-approved size and have a texture that should be good for squeezing the last little bit of product out.

Angus has moved back from the dining room table to the stairs for playtime. Look at those claws! And he is channeling Mr. Kitty by biting the toy in the last photo.

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Madison 1

Here’s Madison with some of the toys from the box. He has apparently learned from Monkey the technique of rubbing his face on every item I hold up to him.

Here is the original face-rubber in action.

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Sneaky 1

Cat Lady Box June - 2019 Sneaky 2

Sneaky was disappointed there wasn’t food involved. That’s Sneaky for you. Sometimes she will play with toys, but she wasn’t in the mood this day.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $70.95 for the June 2019 Crazy CatLadyBox. I don’t travel much but I can find other uses for the travel-related items around my house, where the bright colors will definitely perk me up. The toys were hits this month with my cats, as well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Officially your subscription would start with July’s box, but way back when I signed up, I was contacted to say there were a few of the current month’s box leftover and asked if I’d like one of those. So it may be worth inquiring.

I think a 70 year old could easily understand an inhaler. I don’t know why but that comment struck me odd. My parents were very active and sharp until their physical health declined in their 80s. If anyone said something like that around them they would have been ticked off and insulted. My work has a volunteer who is over 90 and she can run mental circles around people a third of her age.

My parents literally couldn’t understand the cat inhaler. Even after having it demonstrated to them several times. They admitted it and asked my husband if he could just do it. They still work and have active real estate licenses (learned in their 60s) and run several businesses but the cat inhaler is just something they couldn’t do. (Also, understanding and being able to accomplish are slightly different and that does depend somewhat on the cat’s personality and I’m sure Sneaky was non-cooperative.)

I guess that just wasn’t in their wheelhouse then. Maybe Sneaky doesn’t want you to go anywhere so was deliberately difficult:)

I always enjoy your kitty photos and reviews of this box. I used to sub and I’m a little sad I missed out on this one. I love the towel and tank designs. While I can’t speak to quality of either because I didn’t get them, in my experience the clothing and other items included in Cat Lady box are of good quality. I’m admittedly a sucker for cat themed goods so perhaps I’m biased, but for the price I’ve been happy with what I received in the past.

Let’s be real here. Those values are seriously inflated. $22.99 for that thin little promotional towel is ridiculous. The poor quality is evident from the photo. Even a value of $5 would be a stretch for a cheap advertising item. The tank top is just awful. It is definitely not worth more than $10 and in my opinion that is being generous. The little bottles are cute but again not worth $12.99 The cat toys are the only thing worth anything in this box.

I’m curious – do you subscribe to this box, or are you just judging based on the photos? Photos aren’t a substitute for being able to hold something in your hands and feeling the quality – or lack thereof – of an item. I agree that the listed values seem a bit high, but tbh that’s been my experience with a lot of subscription boxes. (I also recognize that I’m out of touch with what things cost nowadays. That shirt would absolutely go for $23 on Modcloth).

Oh my gosh! I love those gorgeous kitty cats in your photos! I don’t even have a cat and this box looks fab!
