Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Box

Cat Claws Club is a bimonthly subscription box for cats filled with lots of toys, treats, and other surprises.  (They just use whatever box will fit the items, so it varies from month to month, hence the odd photo location, but it allows for some unusual item shapes, which can be fun!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

There’s usually a booklet with more information on the items. This month had a movie night theme. There was also a card asking you to share on social media.

Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Scratcher

Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Catnip

Peace Love and Catnip Retro Van Scratcher + Catnip – Estimated Value $30

Based on the pictures of scratchers with cats on them on this page, I’d put the value of this at around $30 (it’s a little bigger than the $25-28 ones). That’s probably a bit conservative because this is super tall. Anyway, I knew when we got a giant box this month that there would be a scratcher and pretty much every single one of my cats was interested in this. (I haven’t given a separate value for the catnip because that’s included with the scratcher. It was also quite popular.) It was time to replace a few of my older scratchers so this came along at a good moment.

Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Peace

Retro Peace Refillable Toy – Retail Value $4.95

This is one of two refillable catnip toys for the month. It has a fuzzy texture so it is different from the other toy. This one is lightweight and both Madison and Monkey wanted to rub their faces on it. They’re my old men now that Mr. Kitty is gone and I guess this is what old men do?

Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Ball

Refillable Beach Ball – Retail Value $3.95

I think we may have received this, or something very much like it in the past, but it is nice and lightweight and the kitties seem interested, especially when there’s fresh catnip in there. (There aren’t many photos of them with the toys this month because they all wanted to see the scratcher. It was much more interesting than usual.)

Gratuitous cat photos:

Angus spent a LONG time rubbing his face on this.

But he played appropriately with it, too.

And he was interested in the catnip, as well.

When I first put this in the bedroom, three cats were all trying to investigate it at the same time.

This is the most interested I’ve seen Madison in something for a while.

Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Monkey 2

Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Monkey 3

Monkey stuck his head all the way in the catnip bag…

Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Sneaky 1

Cat Claws Club June 2019 - Sneaky 2

Sneaky is bossy so of course, she was the first one to get on top of the scratcher. As for the catnip, I think she thought the bag had treats in it.

Verdict: I calculated a total value of about $39 for Cat Claws Club this month. This is about $5 above the month-to-month cost of the box plus shipping, which is pretty good for a cat subscription. My cats’ favorite item was clearly the scratcher although they did play with the toys after the camera had been put away.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, Cat Claws Club ships once every other month. Your first box would be August’s box if you signed up now. (But, many of the items are available for individual purchase from CatClaws.com.)

Value BreakdownThis box costs $33.90 (subscription plus shipping) so you are paying about the following for each item:

  • Scratcher $26.14
  • Peace sign toy $4.31
  • Ball toy $3.44

I seriously check out your cat box reviews just to see photos of your cats. 😂 I was a cat mom before I was a human mom. This cat box doesn’t seem as exciting as the other one that you reviewed.
