Bullymake Box May 2019 - Box

Bullymake Box is a monthly subscription box for power chewers. You all have heard about (and seen) some of Nyx’s exploits with plush toys from dog subscription boxes so when I heard about this one, I had to sign up immediately.  Nyx is definitely a power chewer! You pick your dog’s weight in 10-pound increments so this is a box for an 80-pound dog (Nyx weighs about 87 right now).

About Bullymake Box

The Subscription Box: Bullymake Box

The Cost: $39 a month + free US shipping. Save with 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions

The Products: Toys and treats specifically tailored for heavy chewing dogs (no plushes). You can enter specific allergy information for your dog on the checkout screen. You can also choose to receive a “toys only” box as I did because of Nyx’s dietary issues. You can also now customize the types of toys you receive–see more about how to do so below.

Good to know: if you want a toys-only box, you should select that during sign-up. Otherwise, you will get the default box, which does include some treats. Now you can also go into your account and change your preferences regarding treats, toy type, etc.

Ships to: USA (for free!) and Canada (for $8)

Bullymake Box May 2019 Review

There was a pirate/ocean theme this month:

Bullymake Box May 2019 - Booklet Front Bullymake Box May 2019 - Booklet Back

Not all boxes are the same due to the fact that you can choose your dog’s size in 10-pound increments, choose a toys-only box, and now choose the types of toys, and the newer information cards reflect that.

Bullymake Box May 2019 - Bones

Bullymake Nylon Crossbones Toy – Estimated Value $18

This isn’t available in the Bullymake shop yet, but there is something very similar, which you can find here. We recently changed Nyx’s preferences on the Bullymake site to get more nylon toys because those are really her favorites. This one is nice because the shape makes it easy for her to grab and hold with her paws while she chews.

Bullymake Box May 2019 - Goldfish

Bullymake Nylon Goldfish Toy – Retail Value $18

This is probably one of the featured items for the month since it is already in the Bullymake shop (but it is hard to tell now, with all the customization available). You can see some pictures of Nyx with this below. She enjoyed the unusual shape and chewed both the tail and along one side.

Bullymake Box May 2019 - Hook

Bullymake Nylon Hook – Estimated Value $18

Although this is not in the Bullymake shop, if you go there and look, all their nylon toys have the same price, so it seems a pretty safe assumption regarding the value. Nyx tended to grip the curved end and chew on the other end but how she used it is less important than the fact that she enjoyed chewing on it quite a bit.

Bullymake Box May 2019 - Rope

Petsport Twisted Chews Small Braided Cotton Rope Knot Ball (12”) – Estimated Value $4.79

I only found this on a wholesale site, but it gives an MSRP, so that’s what I’ve listed here. We leave the third and fourth toys a surprise in Nyx’s preferences and usually one is a nylon toy and the other is a rope toy like this. The nice thing about the rope toys is they are a little different every month (not always from the same brand, either, although we have seen Petsport in Bullymake Box before). Nyx enjoys tugging on this but also chewing on the ball part. It is not going to be as durable as the nylon toys but she will still get a few more play sessions out of it.

Here are some pictures of Nyx with the goldfish toy. (Yes, there are a lot, but I think she’s cute. Also, she does great puppy dog eyes.) She had a lot of fun with this.

Verdict: I calculated a total estimated value of $58.79 for the May Bullymake Box. I could see an ocean/pirate theme this month, even without an information card. This is one of Nyx’s favorite boxes to receive each month because she just loves the nylon chew toys, and she is a fan of ropes too. And *I* like that the toys are durable and I don’t have to throw them away after 20 minutes. Some of them typically last up to a couple of weeks, which is fantastic for Nyx, since she’s very destructive.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?  No, your first shipment would be June’s. You can sometimes buy some of the exclusive toys at the Bullymake Shop if something catches your eye (this month’s toys may take a few weeks to get put into the shop). Also, please note there are some box variations here so you may not always receive the same box as Nyx gets, even if you choose the same profile values when you sign up.

Value Breakdown: At $39 for the box, you are paying an average of $9.75 per item. Alternatively, you are paying approximately the following:

  • Crossbones toy $11.94
  • Fish toy $11.94
  • Hook toy $11.94
  • Rope toy $3.18
