This looks good. the super heavy items of the past I can’t GIVE away. That grill is just horrible and I can’t sell on ebay b/c no one biting AND it weighs a TON. Also that defroster! ugh and the scale, that too.

If anyone in NYC wants any of those, we can swap in person 😉

I bought one box in 2017 and was automatically charged for this box, I tried to cancel the next day and they wouldn’t do it. Anyone else have any issues?

I got a bunch of emails saying my payment had failed and to log on and update it. And even though I wanted the box because I have a problem and want everything I knew I didn’t really need it and I didn’t have very many spoilers so I figured I would just let it fail and then when I found the spoilers I would update it and get the box. But then they charged me and I got shipping notices. I’m not sure how they did it if my credit card needed to be updated but I never canceled so it’s OK. If you had canceled after the box you got in 2017 there’s absolutely no reason they have for charging you for a box now and you should really contact them again and tell them if they don’t refund you you’ll refute it with your credit card company.

Too funny – I had not used my chiller in months until yesterday – was doing yardwork and really wanted a cold beer. We only had some in the cupboard so out came the chiller – worked like a charm what a great invention. I love Breo for the things I would never have purchased on my own. The defrosting tray is also getting a ton of use. The Ember – sucks and I cant get it to work. However, fell in love with having my tea warm all the time so I bought a USB cup charger – it works like a charm and I have Brea to thank for the concept (just not the execution). Everything I dont use goes into my “present box” in the garage and I rarely find I need to purchase gifts outside of my box for anything other than major events like christmas.

I’m a fan of breobox…yet I was really disappointed in the winter box. I haven’t gotten over the disappointment. I’m a little shy of the box now. I’m on my seventh or eighth box and I found the last box to have some cool stuff that I think is innovative and useful… but if the reviews on wish are correct and this item is the same (the camera) I would be disappointed. Cold brew from oxo sounds great, but I have one already that bounces from work to home with me. I’m not positive. This is the most expensive sub box I buy. Usually I am super stoked about it, but that winter box actually hurt my feelings. I felt dumb for buying it and I hope that the curators have reflected on the negative response. The popcorn popper was cool, but not that cool… seriously. I’m not asking for a million dollars worth of goods. But I am asking that I hire you to scour the cool and innovative market and come back with some stuff that occasionally blows my mind. I hire causebox to go out and find ethical, creative and innovative items and they have. I never feel like they missed their mark or I didn’t get the value of my dollar. I hire margotelena to bring back perfumes and personal care items for gifts and myself… and I have never felt dumb for making the purchase (there was a weird kimono incident). Yet, a mortar and pestle and an electronic cup I couldn’t use the warranty on made me feel very used.

Very well said. I was beyond disappointed with winter and immediately planned on cancelling. I reflected and gave myself until the first spoiler which seemed different enough to stay subscribed BUT if that is the “high-end” valued item then that’s it for me and I’ll also dispute with my credit card. Sadly I think that’s what they planned.

Thanks for articulating my feelings on it so well — I also felt plain dumb after I got the winter box. The products were useless to me, and I literally haven’t even been able to give them away as gifts.

Did anyone else click on this because they thought it said “Oreo” box…because, cookies?

This is fantastic and exactly why I love Breo. It’s more expensive than other subs but full of interesting and useful items that I don’t already have. (Not that I need a reason to drink more coffee, but this will be really nice during the summer!)

I’m not a huge coffee drinker I only really like it cold and pretty sweet. Mostly it’s just over-sweetened blendy drinks from Dutch Bros and Starbucks. I keep a bottle of Trader Joe’s cold brew in the fridge. would using this item with fresh ground beans really be that much of a taste difference considering all the sweetener I’d add?

A thousand times yes. I was introduced to cold brew coffee over 20 years ago by my Brazilian neighbors and it’s my favorite way to coffee. The cold brew method eliminates a lot of the bitterness and acid so it’s easier on the tummy plus the taste is smoother and sweeter. Just keep in mind that cold brew is a bit concentrated so it will have more caffeine. I’m a bit of a caffeine junkie so I’ll usually do a 50/50 mix of cold brew and milk – it tastes like a coffee milkshake to me, even with little to no sugar added. I’m also a coffee snob so don’t normally use cheap coffee, but I’ve used pre-ground Folgers and it still tasted good.

Darn, we are house of non-coffee drinkers. And I’m on the fence about swapping that since it will be $$$ to mail.

Rachael

I’ve got the Ember mug UFS for the OXO (multiswap preferred)

Beth

I’m not a coffee drinker either. And this is disappointing since, as someone else commented, we already got a coffee press! But hopefully the rest of the box will make it up for me.

Reply ButtonReply

jenn

But we already got an OXO french press in an earlier box. I know this is different, but it’s way too similar.

You cannot make real cold brew coffee from a coffee press. Cold brew from a cold brew machine taste totally different….smoother, non acidic, richer. I didn’t believe it until I tried it myself. I have no idea why but it’s so different. I use it for iced coffee, coffee sodas, to flavor BBQ sauce, brownies, kahlua, ect….and hot coffee when mixed with hot water.

Amy

Sorry, but you can, in fact, make “real” cold brew using a press. It’s just a different method. Cold brew is made by brewing coffee with cold water. A fancy machine may result in a slightly different flavor, but it is not necessary to make it “real.” There are also many methods to brew hot coffee. They will all turn out a little bit differently, but none is less real than the others.

I don’t know this box used to be worth it but now I feel it would be cheaper for me to go and buy the things separately. Also I would t have to buy the things I wasn’t interested in. I feel lost or the point of a sub box is that you have some value there that you can’t get just buy buying the individual items. So far it looks like the camera is worth 17.99 and the coffee thing looks to be about 50. So that is a total of 68$. I don’t know what they could put in there to make it worth the price they are charging. I am much more pleased with Fab Fit Fun than Breo.

Jon

Where did you find the camera listed for $17.99?

Very excited for this box! They always have unique items and great customer service.

I have to say, I got their amazing first summer box that they’ve yet to even come close to duplicating and it had a Hyperchiller in it – I just last week had to replace it because the threading got all messed up and I was sick of dealing with it. I was withiut it for four days and they were miserable! For anyone that likes iced coffee and would rather not deal with something that takes up space or has too many parts I highly recommend the Hyperchiller. My replacement chiller I guess has improvements made to the threading but even getting almost 2 years out of the first one was worth it. I love it so much.

Megan

Totally agree about the HyperChiller! I use mine practically every day and it’s definitely worth it.
