Now, on to the items!

Tarte Be You. Naturally. Palette, 11.2 g - Estimated Value $36.00

(This is a variant item. Subscribers will either receive this or a Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Palette.)

It looks like this actually is a Boxy exclusive palette! I am guesstimating the value to be $36 because there are multiple similar palettes at that price and the included card lists its value to be the same. BoxyCharm is usually really accurate when it comes to their retail values listed n their info cards (something I really appreciate!). These colors are really warm and neutral, and should we wearable by most anyone. The pigmentation is good and the finish is smooth. Is there anything ground-breaking here? No. But I have been receiving a ton of vivid palettes recently and it feels nice to get back to basics. The standout shade for me would have to be 'Dusk' (third from the top in the swatch image below) because it is one of those shades I can just cover my lid in and go. It is just barely pink and has a slight coolness to it. 'Tropical' is pretty much the perfect brow bone shade for me as well, and any combo of these colors feels very cohesive and effortless.

Top to bottom: Sunbeam, Explore, Dusk (my fave!), Earthy, Tropical, Crystalized, Glacier, Daybreak

Here is the ingredient list.

Touch in Sol, 1.01 fl oz - Retail Value $23.00

(It looks like all subscribers are getting this item.)

This primer "essence" is really watery! I feel like most of the primers I have tried have been gels or creams, so this was interesting to try. It has a very small tip meaning you are less likely to waste any of this product and its runny texture means a little goes a long, long way! It did smooth out my skin's texture and minimize my pores. I also noticed my makeup just went on smoother and looked fresher for longer during the day. What more can I ask for?

Dominique Cosmetics Lip Gloss in 'Peach Tea', 5.5 ml - Retail Value $17.00

(It looks like all subscribers are getting this item.)

It seems like in fall and winter I bury my lips under heavy creams in dark and moody shades or reach for blood red stains. In the summertime, I crave glosses exactly like this! A true, effortless pink on my skin, I could see this leaning a little more peachy if you have warmer tones. It is quite sheer, so if you are expecting a ton of pigment, this isn't your gloss. It smells like cake and is a medium weight gloss with just the tiniest bit of stickiness.

A nice, natural, sheer pink!

Steve Laurant Jelly Highlighter in 'Cotton Candy', 7 g - Retail Value $26.00

(This is a variant item.)

'Tis the season for highlighters and bronzers! The first thing I noticed about this highlighter was that it was a very soft and pretty pink in the compact. It does lean less pink on skin, but still has a little hint which I find very pretty. I am very pleased that this highlighter is not golden, bronzed, or too warm for me! I have a feeling this would also be very pretty under my brows and in the corner of my eyes. Another thing worth noting is that t has a really interesting gel texture with a powder finish.

I will take this barely pink champagne shade over an orange bronzer any day!

Dirty Little Secret Lip Liner in 'Pale Pink' - Retail Value $15.00

(This is a variant item.)

This is the least exciting item this month for me personally, but it is still a good shade for me. It coordinated really well with the lipgloss I also received in this box, though it would work with much different subtle gloss and lipstick shades. It is called 'Pale Pink', but it has some heavy peach vibes happening that look very warm on my lips.

Here is the lip liner swatched.

Verdict: I liked this month's Boxycharm much better than May's. The Tarte palette is really pretty and totally wearable, especially for someone like myself who loves more natural makeup. The primer essence was interesting, and though I am not sure it is a product I would buy again, it was fun to try. It could possibly end up being one of those formulas I like more and more as I work my way through the tube. The lipgloss was a home run for me, a purse gloss that I can grab for and apply without a fuss anytime. Highlighters are not lacking in my stash at all right now, and I certainly didn't need this jelly version, but I find myself loving it all the same. Lastly, the lip liner was just ok, but still a pretty solid addition to this box. The retail value of this box is $117.00, which is a great value for a $21.00 box. Boxycharm has yet to fail me in terms of value!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! These boxes do sell out though, so if you love it hurry.

Value Breakdown: At $21.00 for this box, here is approximately what you are paying per product:

  • Tarte Be You. Naturally. Eyeshadow Palette $6.46
  • Touch In Sol Primer Essence $4.13
  • Dominique Cosmetics Lemonade Lipgloss $3.05
  • Steve Laurant Jelly Highlighter $4.67
  • Dirty Little Secret Lip Liner $2.69

Alternatively, the average cost of each of the 5 items is $4.20.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I recieved my first Boxy Charm box ever. I was excited until I opened the Tarte eyeshadow palette. There is a strong chemical smell coming from inside it. I have another rainforest palette and it smells amazing. This stinks of petrol gas and something else. Has anyone else noticed or I got a bad one?
I know they cheapen out for subscription boxes vs Sephora and regular line of products but this is bad.
I also noticed talc as the main ingredient also on the highlighter I recieved. Talc is banned now isn’t it? it’s proven to cause cancer especially ovarian so I am confused. I have ovarian cysts and endometriosis so I look out for it. Here in Canada I noticed they replaced talc with other ingredients.

Not sure why everyone is hating on the palette (and the highlighter one a few months ago, for that matter, which is one of my favorites). I’m wearing that palette today, and the colors show up great, blend well, and there is no fallout. I used daybreak in the crease, sunbeam on the lid, and glacier on the corners and front of lid. Looks beautiful!

The gloss is wonderful! I don’t find it to be sticky at all, but I live in gloss and lip balms, so I might be a little desensitized. It smells like cake, and is pretty and moisturizing. The lip liner is better than I thought, too. I got dusty rose, and used it this morning with the gloss. Looked naturally pretty.

Tried the primer essence on my hand last night, and I think I’ll like it. Was trying a new foundation today and didn’t want to use a new primer.

I just noticed something about the Tarte palette. It has stickers on top and in the middle inside. Did anybody notice that? I wonder what’s underneath. I would pill it off, but one of my friends asked me for it

Rose

I noticed too but figured they reuse palettes otherwise it is wasteful.

Ashley

I noticed this as well…. A lady on youtube peeled it… Its a sea volume 3 pallet packaging! I compared to my vol 3 I got in jan… They are different colors… I’m wondering if they just reused the packaging?

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

Yes, looks they recycled the old packaging. That makes me happy, tbh. Rather see them do this than create more waste.

I am thrilled with this months box! I am so tired of wild colored eyeshadow I will never use!! Thank you Boxycharm for doing a palate that is beautiful and neutral!!💗💗💗💗😍😍😍I was thrilled with last month’s box too! Even if I wont use the eyelash curler I got-I just passed it along to a friend that would and was thrilled with everything else! Keep doing what you are doing Boxy! For $21 this box is a steal!!

I love this month box. My variation was different ( I got the skin and co.) this is my second box and I’m in love.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

No you’re not alone!! I picked the eyeshadow pallet for the same exact reason you did and now I really wish I would have just gambled with the highlight and blush pallet bc these eyeshadows aren’t for me.

this is my second month for boxcharm….and I am still not getting what I want..what is the use of a beauty profile if they are not going to look at it…

Reply ButtonReply

MzBev

They don’t use the profiles yet. They keep saying they’re working on it. So far, it means nothing.

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

That’s why I gave up on Boxy. Too many try it and pitch.

Rachel

This looks like one of the best boxes in a while! That highlighter looks so pretty and I’m not a highlighter person. And even though that palette looks a little bland, we have been asking for cool toned neutrals lately and that more fits the bill.

Megan K.

I admittedly like super neutral shades so I was also pleased. I can see how this might have been less exciting if you like bolds though.

Hopefully this gets posted, MSS is notorious for not posting my comments, idk why….

I am sure plenty have gotten this question asked but this is my first month I subbed to boxyluxe yet I was still charged the $21 for the monthly box.

So essentially I am paying $50 for Boxyluxe!?!? Is that correct?

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

Boxyluxe is $50 ($21 for the regular boxycharm + $29 for the Luxe part). Boxyluxe isn’t every month tho

Reply ButtonReply

Lori H

Yes. The Luxe version is $50.

Reply ButtonReply

Rachael

Am I the only one who was disappointed that the lip gloss wasn’t lemonade scented/flavored?

Reply ButtonReply

Alexis

Ha! Same! I’m not receiving my luxe box until tomorrow but I already know that I’m getting the DC Gloss in “Peach Tea” as well, according to my spoiler email anyways…and then When reading the article I was shocked when she said it smelled like cake! WHHHHYYYYY doesn’t it smell like peach tea? Or at least just peaches?!? Lol. What’s even more disappointing is that I love peachy colors/tones (my fav!) , including lip colors… so I was thrilled to find out that I was getting the peach one, and envisioned myself applying it and smelling peachy scents… what a crime! Lol I must say though, this box is going to be absolutely 100% perfect for me as long as I get the Living proof spray and the skin/body mist, but even if not, I’m still excited for the variations 🙂 I guess being a member only since feb 2019 I’m not burnt out yet…

Megan K.

It did seem like a slightly missed opportunity, though at least it did still smell good!

The only thing(s) in this box that I could use would be the beautiful DC Gloss and it’s corresponding lip liner. They would be used to death…but the rest? I canceled Boxycharm months ago due to horrendous Customer Service (and product dismay)…am glad I did it too. Nothing has tempted me in the least since, and I say this sadly.

Reply ButtonReply

Barbara

Barbara? [The other] Barbara here. I have to agree with everything you just said as I too cancelled Boxy months back (in March) and haven’t haven’t looked back. Their Customer Service became horrendous for some reason and so I went over to IPSY PLUS. Now, THEY actually do use your profiles, although at times they do miss a product or two. Their Customer Service is some of the very best around and I actually love working with them So buh bye Boxy (for now at least).

Jennifer Martino

No not just you. It’s gotten so boring! All the same boring colors & all the same boring choices. Recycling products that they have had for awhile. The variations made me cancel. Ughs I’ll buy my makeup at the store & nit have to deal with old crap

Svetlana7e

I selected eyeshadow palette, what a boring invisible shades :(. I wish I selected blush, but I did not want gamble and instead of blush receive highlighter palette.
In anycase, I just canceled BC. This box is got too boring, same over and over brands. But it is just me, I’ve been with BC for two years.

Reply ButtonReply

Helen

I wasn’t able to to select what I wanted – how did you do that? I got the eyeshadow palette but I wanted the sculpt one. Also got the self tanning for the second month in a row and that was too much, so I canceled it.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

No you’re not alone!! I picked the eyeshadow pallet for the same exact reason you did and now I really wish I would have just gambled with the highlight and blush pallet bc these eyeshadows aren’t for me.

Does anyone have ingredient info for the Tarte/Boxy exclusive eyeshadow palette or the tarteist™ PRO glow cheek palette v3? I would like to make sure I can use them before getting this box.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Added an image for you Jamie! Hope it helps <3

Megan K.

Hey Jamie! Let me get a photo taken tomorrow and I can add this info for you. 🙂

Jamie

Thanks so much!

CHEYENNE

Both palettes are part of the Amazonian Clay collection so the ingredients would be similar to the collections online at Tarte.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Both palettes were made exclusively for Boxycharm, so there isn’t any info available on them as far as ingredients and whatnot.

Reply ButtonReply

Jamie

Yes, I’m hoping someone who receives them would be willing to post the ingredients if they are listed on the packaging.

Dianne

I didn’t get this month’s. Am cutting back. The lipgloss looks nice
