June 2019 Birchbox 'Fun in the Sun' Curated Box Review #2

This month came with a little folded card explaining the Birchbox philosophy of 'you time'.

Birchbox Curated 4 June 2019 beauty subscription box review poduct sheet Birchbox Curated 4 June 2019 beauty subscription box review products

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included and some tips on how to use them.

Finally, included is a card promoting their loyalty program.

Let's dive into our items!

Wilma Schumann Skin Care Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads, 2 pair - Estimated Value $7.20 (Buy 5 pairs for $18.00)

I go through cooling eye pads really fast in the summer! There is nothing better than popping some in the fridge for 30 minutes before you apply them on a sweaty day! These are loaded with collagen and feel like pure heaven. I tried just one under one eye to see if I noticed any difference and I absolutely did see less redness and an overall more plumped skin texture under my eye. These are a pretty affordable patch for being as effective as I found them.

too cool for school All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer, 0.35 fl oz - Estimated Value $7.16 (Buy a full size 1.76 oz for $36.00)

I love any K-Beauty products that contain yolk extract because they are always so hydrating and my skin just loves egg! This cream felt like velvet and absorbed very easily into my skin. It has a barely there creamy scent which really isn't noticeable at all. It is a medium weight and great for a sleep mask if you don't like to sleep in super heavy creams. My skin is super dry so I wore t during the day and my skin was hydrated throughout my workday.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle, 1 fl oz – Estimated Value $2.94 (Buy a full size 8 oz for $23.50)

I feel like I actually received this same sample (with different packaging) back in like 2015. I liked it then too! This detangler is so light and effective (and smells great!) that it doesn't surprise me that this product is still around and is a Birchboc Beauty Award Winner. Paraben and sulfate free, it makes a no brainer protectant spray, especially for color treated hair.

Arrow Boost Lip Balm, 0.14 oz - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $15.00

Summertime is balm season for me and this color changing tube is perfect as a purse balm. It starts out clear and then turns a custom pink, based on your skin chemistry. I love it because it is impossible to over apply, as the color always looks perfect on my lips. Along with the great color, it also brings a major hydration boost to your lips as you wear it.

This is the pink I saw after about 30 seconds.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo, 0.75 oz - Estimated Value $3.54 (but a full size 5.3 g for $25.00)

I wash my hair around 2 times a week, so dry shampoo is a lifesaver for me. This formula is effective and smells great! The size is perfect for a weekend bag or purse, and I absolutely love the fun geometric design on the bottle. It is also worth noting that this formula is talc free!

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner, 0.04 oz - Estimated Value $12.57 (Buy a full size 0.07 oz for $22.00)

Finally, we received a pitch black liquid eyeliner. The brush tip is really great on this one because you can get a super thin line or a major bold line with ease. When I drew it on thick, it did take a moment to fully dry, but when it did it was pretty smudge proof and one of the darkest I have ever tried:

Verdict: This box has an approximate value of $48.41, which is excellent for a $15 box. I really enjoyed each item in this box, though some are absolutely more useful to me in the summertime than others. The standouts would have to be the eye pads, lip balm, and dry shampoo. They really scream summer to me! I also enjoyed the egg cream and the detangler is an old favorite. I don't usually line my eyes with liner, but the Eyeco pen is such a great option I plan on hanging onto it for more formal makeup heavy occasions.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’m so glad I got this box! I missed my day to pick one and was praying for this box LoL Granted it’s a lot of repeats, for me it’s all things I use on a regular basis and for that- I’m thrilled! My mom was also over when I opened my box and now she wants to subscribe too, HELLO extra $20 (that I use with my points to get the big kits and LEs)

I use eye masks almost daily, my daughter is living in the pool bc of summer and her hair NEEDS all the help it can get. I’m not mad at a new little eye liner (I like to replace them frequently for hygienic reasons) I’ll never mad at moisturizer and I have yet to try the lip balm, but I’m a chapstick junkie. So if I don’t like the colour it will be a before bed chapstick.. and I use dry shampoo constantly and have been traveling lately so its perfect. Nothing new, but everything useful = a win in my book!

Yes, I received my June box sometime last week.

I like most of the items in this box but I’m so tired of the teensy sizes! They raised the prices of their subscription but imo they have done NOTHING to justify those higher prices.

I love this style of box! The contents on this curation don’t wow me, but I think that’s because they all feel like repeats

I swapped for points this month, but those drawer boxes look great. I can upcycle those easily ☺

The little drawers are great and useful. The tassel is just so itty and cute!

You’re right about the Beauty Protector Megan. They did change their packaging. I was able to get a shampoo and conditioner set from Birchbox at a great price when they were transitioning to the new packaging. I love their products. They’re effective and they smell amazing! They make body wash and I think body lotion now, so lots of other folks must love the scent too.

The smell is heaven, and totally not like things I normally like. Was the old packaging red plastic with black writing on it? I feel like I am time warping!

I had those eye pads before in a box a while back, and they actually burned my skin! The lippie is good though.

Eep! Sorry about that Diane. Makes me want to be extra careful with how long I leave them on. I enjoyed them but I tent to disregard instructions about time limits on sheet masks and eye gels. Bad habits!

I think this may be the first box I complain about about other than Oui Please when they were awful. lol

This is the 3rd Eyeko in a row from BB for me, I have a half dozen of those eye gels, two of the amikas and 3 of the arrow balms. I am looking forward to my year being over and if I paid anymore than the $5 or so I paid I would be quite unhappy. I am the most chill person ever but this box makes me sad every month which is the exact opposite of what a sub box should do. lol Live and learn.

I really hope they continue the drawer style box. I try to reuse as many boxes as I can and it would be nice to have some variety. The June boxes have been very nice.

Agree 100% Perfect for samples or jewelry, or anything!

I was subed to this box years ago and tired or repeats within the year I had it. I’m still seeing the same type or same products over and over again. Probably will never look good to me again.
Great info and review tgough… thanks.
