Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream, 0.5 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $5.20 (Buy a full-size 5 oz. for $52.00)
Once again, Oribe has done my finicky hair right with this moisturizing cream. I used just a small amount of it and combed it through towel-dried hair after my shower and then blow-dried as usual. While I still have my little frizzies, this made my hair incredibly soft and it smells so wonderful too!

Many years ago, when I used to never actually wash my face (GASP) I decided I needed to start and shyly slinked into Sephora. I remember the nice woman there loading me up with samples of cleansers to try and Peter Thomas Roth was one of them. It wasn't this particular one, but for some reason, he has stuck in my head as a formative cleanser brand. I was surprised at how delicious this smells (due to the grapefruit, peach, lime, and lemon extracts) and it made my cleansing experience that much more enjoyable. My face feels intensely clean after using this and I just adore it!

Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum, 0.17 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $12.50 (Buy a 0.33 oz. for $25.00)
This same serum came in one of the other curated boxes this month and I'm not mad at it. This is a great addition to the "Fountain of Youth" theme for this box and since I'm not physically getting any younger, I'm always looking to improve my skin. While I've always heard that retinol is great for skin, I don't know too much about it. I happened to find this article on Allure's website that goes over a lot of myths. Apparently, Murad's Youth Renewal Serum contains a gentler version called retinyl propionate which is less irritating. Score!

Specific Beauty Advanced Dark Spot Corrector Pads, 30 pads - Estimated Retail Value $19.00 (Buy full size 90 pads for $57.00)
I know it's not the same thing but these corrector pads bring me back to my pre-teen years of using Oxy pads. There is virtually no scent to these pads whatsoever and they really didn't feel like much as I swept one across my face. The package states that it's formulated to help even skin tone with ingredients like green tea leaf extract, bearberry leaf extract, and licorice root extract among other things. These didn't wow me in function or ritual but prolonged use is most likely needed to see results. I can see these being great for travel instead of bringing a bottle of something that you'd have to soak on a cotton pad, so that's a plus.

Philosophy Ultimate Miracle Worker Fix Eye Fill & Firm Treatment, 0.1 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $13.60 (Buy full size 0.5 oz. for $68.00)
Such a tiny bottle and yet plenty of product to pat around my eyes in the evening and when I wake up for a handful of applications. I love the silky feel of this eye cream and it feels extremely moisturizing. Eye creams are an essential part of an anti-aging skincare routine and I really need to get on board. Perhaps this one will motivate me!

Marcelle Xtension Plus Curl Mascara, 0.15 oz. - Buy full size for $12.95
With mascara, the formula is important of course, but the wand also makes all the difference. The simple curve of this one really helps apply the deep black color to my lashes with ease and I love the short bristles. I didn't find it to be particularly volumizing but it certainly delivered the length that it promised. It also does so with virtually no messy clumps and gives my lashes a clean yet polished look. Definitely a new go-to for my travel makeup bag!
Verdict: Birchbox's curated "Fountain of Youth" box delivered some great products to explore! I am over the moon about the cleanser, hair cream, and mascara, but everything will get used without a doubt.
