The Beauty Report Jet Set Box Review
Here is the info sheet for the box.
Vital Protein Sleep Collagen Shot, 2 oz – Buy a case of 12 for $36
This is new to me! It is a sleep supplement made with 7 grams of collagen peptides as well as sleep-inducing ingredients like magnesium and melatonin. The taste is supposed to be a lemon lavender blueberry, but wow it just tastes bad. I imagine sticking this in the fridge before consumption would improve the taste slightly, but overall it was not pleasant. I will say though that this definitely helped me feel more relaxed as I was trying to fall asleep, and I got a great nights sleep using it.
ThisWorks Sleep Pillow Spray, 0.35 oz – Estimated Value $4.06 (buy the 2.5 oz version for $29)
I have received some truly tiny samples of this pillow spray, so I am happy that New Beauty included the larger spray sample. I love this- I use some form of pillow spray almost every night because they definitely help me relax, and this blend of lavender, vetiver, and chamomile helps me to put my mind at ease.
ODE Olive Oil Lip Balm, 0.15 oz – Retail Value $9
This is an awesome lip balm - the texture isn’t very firm, and it provides so much nourishment that it actually feels like I applied an oil rather than a balm. Made with California extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, beeswax, and peppermint, this is definitely one of the better lip balms I have tried!
LivOn Labs Magnesium L-Threonate, 2 packets – Buy a box of 30 packets for $59.95 (currently out of stock)
This is a flavorless gel that you drink with a little bit of water, even though the gel won't mix or dissolve in the water. Magnesium is supposed to help with memory, learning, and relaxation in your brain, and it is recommended to take this supplement once in the morning and once at night for optimal brain support.
KohGenDo Cleansing Spa Water, 1.35 oz – Estimated Value $6.79 (buy the 3.38 oz version for $17)
This micellar water is made with birch sap and various herbs like rosemary and sage. I found it to be gentle and refreshing on my skin, but it didn’t blow me away enough to justify paying the premium price this cleansing water costs.
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle, 1 oz – Retail Value $10
I have tried the oat milk version of this dry shampoo and like it- it absorbs into my scalp without leaving a white cast, and that is really all I can ask for. This is made with nettle and is designed for oily hair so I will be passing it along to a friend because my scalp stays dry as the Sahara.
Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel, 1.35 oz – Estimated Value $10.32 (buy a 5.1oz tube for $39)
Since I am in the midst of my law school finals (my last, ever!), I have been turning to the group fitness classes held at the rec center to help get my mind off of school. While it is definitely doing wonders for managing my stress, it also is leading to some sore muscles. I love that this uses ingredients that both smell good and provide relief to muscle tension- the ginger and black pepper add a natural warming sensation, and the rosemary, lavender, and juniper oils provide a cooling sensation. I have been using this after my fitness classes right before bed, and I have been getting some great sleep.
Akar Restore Eye Serum, 0.3 oz – Estimated Value $84 (buy a 0.1 oz. bottle for $28)
Akar packaging just makes me happy - it is so beautiful! I have been interested in trying an eye serum, and I love that the value of this is more than the cost of the entire box. I find it to be incredibly hydrating and perfect for my night routine. The finish is a bit dewy, so it probably wouldn’t be what you want to reach for in the morning when you’re going to be layering sunscreen and makeup over it.
The Verdict: I will pretty much buy any box New Beauty releases- they always have great values, and I am always introduced into new products I fall in love with. I have been using the Akar eye serum every night since receiving this box, and I am reaching for the lip balm every chance I get. Value-wise, I calculated a total value of $112 for everything except the supplements, which is great for a $24.95 box.
