Stitch Fix Kids May 2019 Review

In our Stitch Fix Kids box, there were several bright and colorful information sheets, a set of cute stickers, and some information about their box challenge. I love that they encourage recycling of your box in such a fun way.

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $220, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $145.00.

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a note from her stylist Isabel. She made it especially personal this time by mentioning the city that we live in, which I thought was a nice touch! I love that they also make it more kid-friendly by adding a little maze to the outside of it.

Joe's Jeans Hadlee Frayed Hem Short, Size 6X - Cost to Keep $24.00

These jean shorts were a nice light wash that is perfect for pairing with summer tops. The frayed hem is fun and not too distressed looking and the quality is nice. These jean shorts also feature an adjustable waistband which is great for my skinny girl.

Here they are on her. They seem a bit short, but I don't know if that's just because she's all legs these days!

Sovereign Code Chloe Ruffle Detail Top, Size 6X - Cost to keep $16.00

This top is really cute with the fun striped pocket and a few ruffles at the sleeves. It is a bit baggy on her, but I think it's still cute and a good casual shirt.

RUMI + RYDER The Classic Tight Fitting Shorts Sleepwear Set, Size S - Cost to Keep $24.00

This is the item that she was most excited for. A pair of pink unicorn pajamas! They do fit her really well and are very cute, but I am cheap when it comes to pajamas and $24 for one pair is a bit much for me. The quality was nice, but not anything above what you would receive at your local Target.

Flapdoodles Harlo Short Sleeve Tee 2-Pack, Size 6X - Cost to keep $22.00

This next shirt is part of a 2 pack of tees. This one with the unicorns looked like it would be a clear winner. I love the little knot detail at the end of the sleeves, but she was not a fan of it. We have actually received shirts similar to this before and I think I have mentioned that Liv doesn't like them simply for that reason, but since it was probably a few fixes ago, so I'm sure that detail was easily forgotten this month!

Here is a closeup of the fun unicorn design and this pink shirt is the other part of this set.

RUMI + RYDER Peni Scoop Pocket Knit Short, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $16.00

These shorts are very cute and comfortable with pockets and a drawstring at the waist. I love the pattern and the colors, although I feel like they will be hard to match to a top. She chose to pair them with the pink Flapdoodles top and it doesn't quite go together, although it is pretty close.

Design History Bennie Sequin Graphic Tie Front Tank, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $18.00

She also chose this pairing, which doesn't quite go together either, but then again, she is not one to shy away from mixing and matching her patterns. This top is really cute with the little tie in the front and the sequin details on the cherries. It's a great casual summer tank.

The sequins are also reversible which is really fun, but also a pet peeve of mine when they don't lay quite right!

Sophia & Zeke Peasant Knit Top, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $22.00

This is my favorite item this month! It is so cute, especially paired with the denim shorts, and the yellow looks great on her! It was a little bit too big in the armhole area, though. I just love everything about this top other than the fit on her; the ruffle sleeves, the little tie at the neck, and the fun florals. I am going to be on the lookout for something similar because it is so cute!

Here is a closeup of the beautiful print and fabric.

Design History Korrey Ruffle Fit and Flare Dress, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $24.00

I love the style of this dress with the cute ruffle apron top and the scalloped skirt. The pink and white stripes are adorable and feminine, although I wasn't too stoked on the lips and eyelashes. They were fine, but not exactly my favorite print. This dress actually ended up being a bit too small on her. It's difficult to tell in the photos, but if she were to bend over, everyone would get an eyeful. It was also really tight trying to fit her arms into it, too. It does have buttons down the back which helped a bit, but it was still too tight to be comfortable for her to put on easily.

Here is a closeup of the fun fabric and that adorable hemline.

Chenault Girl Rosemary Short Set, Size s - Cost to Keep $30.00

I loved this outfit when I first saw it! The quality is great, the billowy shorts that mimic a skirt are so fun and the florals are so pretty! I also really love the halter style top, but this was much too big on her. She was absolutely swimming in it and the armholes were so huge on her this time that it gapped a lot and showed her chest.

Sophia & Zeke Jennifer Shift Dress, Size 6X - Cost to Keep $24.00

This dress is so cute! I love the style and the suede pocket and elbow patch details. This would be a perfect fall dress, but it is already much too warm here to get away with wearing this right now. It was also much too big on her. I considered keeping it for fall, but that is a long ways away and who knows how this girl will grow between now and then!

I do really love these camel colored details against the navy stripes!

The Verdict: This month's Stitch Fix Kids box was another mixed bag for us thanks to the sizing that was all over the place. There were a lot of fun and cute pieces that both my daughter and I liked and overall, I think her stylist did a great job. Unfortunately, we run into this sizing issue a lot since my skinny little four-year-old is as tall as a six-year-old. Although this month seemed a bit worse with some pieces that were much too big on her and some that were too small. While this fix wasn't one of our best, I still enjoyed the convenience of having some fun styles sent to our door and being able to try them on in the comfort of our own home!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what we got, but you will probably get something that fits your child's style and size even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $220. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $145. That’s a discount of around 34% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

We had major sizing issues with our stichfix kids box this month, too. Things were super cute, but just didn’t fit right.
